Liv's POV

I ran as fast as my feeble legs could carry me through the woods. At that point, I didn't care if my bare feet were being torn by contact with the ground.

The naked thorn and bush brushed against my clothes and tore some parts away.

'Kill the Alpha.'

I had witnessed a treasonous event.

Any word of it that got out and it meant death.

I knew that if I lingered there any longer, the Luna would have caught me.

I knew she would have killed me on the spot so that her plans wouldn't be revealed.

But either way, I wasn't planning on tattling either.

I just wanted to get the fuck away from there.

I was in a den full of wolves, and I was just a mere prey in their power struggles.

The party was still in full bloom when I got to the Mansion.

The guards didn't even care to give me a second look as I went into the maid's quarters.

I used the entrance from the maid's quarters to branch into the mansion since they were connected and I ran straight to my room. I didn't have much money with me, but I had to make sure to pack my essentials so I could hold up as long as I could.

I heaved my bag onto my shoulder and walked to the door when I stopped.

"You are going to leave just like that, after learning that?"

It had been a while since I had heard my wolf speak to me.

It took me some seconds to recognize the voice and I sighed.

"You saw what happened there. I'm powerless to stop them, I'm just a weak Omega," I replied.

I could still see the poison in the sachet as it glittered in the moonlight.

"I know we are powerless, but when we are aligned with people—"

I started laughing and dropped my bags.

"Are you mad! Who would want to align with an Omega?" I screamed.

"They would execute me the moment I blurt those words out," my head was hurting.

"Besides, the alpha is strong. Poison can't kill him," I said. My words weren't even convincing.

My wolf sighed. "We both know that the poison will kill the Alpha. Think about it, if he dies, who do you think will take over the pack since the boys are not old enough?"

I frowned. I hadn't thought of that. "Rebecca will," I replied.

"Now think of what will happen to people like you and other lower-ranking wolves," it echoed.

"Then we will have to stop her, but how," I said slowly.

"Just follow my instructions, I will take care of it," it replied to me.

My wolf instructed me to change my clothes, to go to the party, to intervene and try to stop it. Luckily, I had a slim-fit evening gown that was black and simple. That way, we won't stand out from the public.

I cleaned my wounds covered them with my long hair and applied makeup on my face, although it wasn't glamorous like Erisa's.

I walked out of the room and joined the line that was going to the hall where the party was taking place. I slipped in, and I was surprised at the number of people attending.

All the higher officials in the pack were present, although I couldn't get a good view of them at the high table. I knew the Alpha would surely be there, but getting close to him unseen would be the problem.

"So I'm in the hall, what should I do?" I asked.

Soft classical music played from the stage.

"You will see soon enough, someone will come and help you," my wolf said and fell silent.

"What do you mean? Who is coming?"

I didn't get any reply. I might have been abandoned again. I shouldn't have trusted my wolf to help me, but I had no choice.

I had to stop the alpha from being killed.

A bulb lit up in my head.

I had to find the triplets, if I convinced them, they would help me.

I walked between people who were enjoying themselves at the formal party, looking for the triplets.

I scanned the high table, but they weren't there. I looked up at the balcony, but they weren't around.

My anxiety was getting the best of me, my palm was becoming clammy while my heart pumped blood faster than usual.

I turned around, looking for at least one of them.

I was also trying my best to avoid the guards because I was scared Rebecca had warned them to be wary of me.

I felt like I was in danger.

I wanted to—

Someone grabbed my hand and I almost gasped.

I turned around and Frank was cocking his eyebrows at me.

"What's wrong Liv?" He asked me. He looked nicely dressed, in his royal wear. His hair flawlessly done, causing him to look even more appealing and I'd say irresistible because I felt something in my throat. Those were my words struggling to come out, but I'd been too astonished to push them out.

"N—nothing," I held my hands as he released them, entirely stunned at what he was doing at the party.

"You're lying, your scent is laced with chemicals, and you smell of blood," he purred, taking a whiff from my neck area.

My throat felt dry, I didn't want to tell him anything.

"What are you up to? I hope it isn't anything crazy," his questions were probing. I had to be careful, I couldn't trust anybody yet.

I pulled Frank towards me and I held a dancing pose as we danced to the music.

"Whoa?!" Frank exclaimed. He seemed a bit flustered by my actions.

"I was looking for who to dance with," I lied. All that time, I kept my eyes scanning for the triplets, Erisa and the Luna.

Frank chuckled. "Okay, easy, don't step on my shoes,".

"Is that all you care about?"

He inched closer, grabbing my waist. "Yes" he spun me. "And you, the moment I saw you walk in all scared and and confused"

My breathing hastened. He just said he cared about me. "I'm not scared, nor confused" I was contradicting both him and myself. I was both the things I just denied.

He shook his head. "What are you up to Liv" he pushed further, squeezing my waist, making me gasp.

What was he doing?

"You know doing that isn't going to push me to say anything"

"Really?" He smirked

I rolled my eyes at him. "And I should ask you the same, what are you doing here?"

"My sisters have a special day tonight" The corner of his lips went up in a smile, staring at me intensely as though he was waiting for a kind of reaction.

I looked around and my eyes met with three ladies seated at the high area.

All three of them dressed in wealth itself.

From where they sat, I could already perceive their aura, the kind that poised power and allure.

Just like Frank. There was also a bit of resemblance between them and I immediately knew they were the ladies he was talking about.

"What about them?" I said turning to Frank who kept watching me closely

Leaning closer, he whispered. "I don't want to ruin your day"

I hated how he was trying to keep in the dark. "Tell me" I gritted.

"Why don't you ask your loving mates" there was a hint of mockery in his voice and that disturbed me.

"If you know something, there's nothing stopping you from telling me"

He shook his head. "It'd be too much for you, I promise"

I got even more frustrated, glancing from Frank to his sisters, as if the answers would descend from the sky onto my very laps

"Don't get distracted, look!" my wolf's voice, brought me back to the main reason I was there in the first place .

I saw Erisa as she went to one of the maids who was serving drinks, poured wine inside a glass and gave it to her to serve. My eyes widened. They were too far for me to stop them. I had to do something.

"Frank, I—I have to—"

"And our three favourite people are here," Frank suddenly announced with a hint of contempt in his voice.

I followed his eyes and I saw Callum and Ryder enter. They looked rough as if they had been fighting or running. Callum had seen us and I saw his facial expressions changed to murder.

Where was the third one?

I tried to pull away but Frank pulled me closer to him. His sweet scent filled my nose and I felt flustered by the sudden action.

No, no, I was getting distracted. The drink!

I pulled away from Frank and my eyes were on the moving maid. I had to stop her with all I had, I had to—

Someone had clamped down on my hand. I looked back and saw Max glaring at me. I peeked at the maid and back to the high table. My eyes and the Luna Rebecca's clashed. They frowned at me and looked around for the guards.

My heart was in my mouth, I had been found. I had to act fast. I tried pulling away from Max but he wouldn't budge.

"Max, let me go," I pleaded.

Max looked at me and then back to Frank.

"Yeah, you don't have to be a prick to get a woman's attention," Frank walked up to Max and sized him up face to face.

Oh no, I didn't have time for their male mating sessions. I had to move now!

I turned again and I saw the Alpha had taken the drink from the maid and he was smiling at the Luna. Rebecca's eyes weren't off me, and I could see that she was worried that I was there.

Damn it!

I forced my hand, but Max wouldn't let go. He looked as if he wanted to hit Frank. Callum and Ryder were already rolling up their sleeves as they walked towards Frank.

I had no choice, I couldn't make it in time.

I looked at the Alpha again, and he was putting the glass to his mouth and I panicked.

My mouth went into overdrive.

I screamed. "The Alpha's drink is poisoned!"

The music stopped, and the crowd fell silent and directed their attention to me.
