Callum's POV
I suddenly withdrew from Max, as soon as those words had left his lips. I understood Luna Rebecca was into numerous dubiousness and she had an eye for power and all, but killing her to make Liv stay with us was extreme. I had my way and that was far from it
"Be careful Max," I replied, checking his eye for signs of transformation. He looked normal and had an aura of stillness around him which was quite unusual.
"I mean it, let's kill her," His voice held desperation as he spoke. The look in his eyes showed deep hatred and rage just thinking about her. I saw it in his eyes, he truly meant every word he said.
I stood up, clenching my jaw. "Max, you are letting your wolf control you again," I spoke slowly studying his reaction. I suspected it had to be his rival wolf.
"I mean every word I say. You know it, Callum, you know our mother is more dangerous, even more than we believe. Damn it, Callum. Don't chicken out on me," he was determined enough to do it.
I had to reason with him. Doing this was just going to get him killed. "I understand your view and the angle you are seeing things. But we don't need to kill her. There should be a way to make her powerless, a way she wouldn't be able to do any—"
"You know there's no way we can stop her without killing her. If you have another plan, feel free to tell me," Max interrupted me.
I opened my mouth to talk, but nothing came up in my head. "Y—you know I'll surely come up with something else later," I stuttered.
As painful as it was, he was correct about me not having a plan. The only standing option was to kill, but I wasn't having jt
Max walked around me to the center of the room and faced the window.
"Think about it. Remember what she used to do with us if we missed our lessons," he said to me.
I looked back at him as the memories kept playing in my head.
Of course, I remembered.
How she used to inflict psychological damage on us, things I didn't want to remember for a second.
Once she had Max beaten to a pulp by the guards for daring to defile her and we all had to watch. One little whimper from us and we were next. She wanted us molded into perfect strong Alpha figures and so did we become, but with so much hatred buried in our hearts for her
I understood why Max hated her as much as he did.
She had done enough to be left unpunished, but killing her was something I never thought of
"Look, Max, it's your wolf talking. You need to be the one in charge and not your wolf" I pushed further, probing to remove the thought from his mind.
He clenched his jaw, moving closer to me "It has nothing to do with my wolf. I am calm and you know it, Callum"
"You also hate her. I think you even hate her more than the rest of us. Help me stop her by killing her. Liv would never make anything up. If she says she tried to poison the Alpha. You know it's true," Max pushed further.
"Think for a second. Father didn't believe it when Liv slumped at that party. Even if it wasn't actually poisoned, Frank did a good job of making it look like it, but Father is fucking blinded. What do you think will happen if you kill her and he finds out you did it? Son or not, you are facing judgment"
Max shook his head.
"I have made up my mind. I will tell Ryder, I know he will agree to—"
Was he not listening to me?
He was so blinded by hate that he failed to see the reasons.
"You really need to think about this. She is not someone you could just__" I snapped my fingers.
"Get rid of that fast"
I pulled away from him, leaving the room for him too.
If I let Max commit treason and he got caught, he would go to jail or be executed.
But first, I wanted to know why there wasn't an investigation going up against the Luna. Even though there was no poison in the glass, which we only knew, she should have been locked up.
I went to the general hall, where my father was attending to his duties. Two guards stood at the door, but when they noticed me, they left the way for me to pass through.
I met him talking with his council members but I still barged in.
"We need to talk," I said, not bothering about any form of greeting.
The groan that left his lips showed his disapproval, but I wasn't having it.
It was either we had this conversation or I was not leaving.
"Pick another time. I'm in the middle of something" His green eyes descended sternly on me, but yet i didn't move an inch
I stood there, rooted to the ground to show my seriousness.
A sigh left his lips as he glanced from me to his council member. "For your sake Callum, this better be good"
I clenched my fist by my side.
Of course, it was. Something that should have been spoken about, but it was swept under the rug for some reason.
"Gentlemen, this meeting has been adjourned till further notice," he ordered.
The councilmen stood up and bowed their heads in respect to the Alpha, a sort of custom.
They walked around me and left the room quickly.
I waited till I heard the sound of the door closing before I took a step closer.
He stood up from his chair rested against the large table and looked at me.
I clenched my teeth and held my knuckles tight.
"Why did you let her go?"
He furrowed his eyebrows. "Let who go?
"Your Luna" I gritted.
He scoffed, staring at me in disbelief.
"That Luna you are speaking about is your mother, do you realize that, Callum?"
He wasn't helping the situation. His blindness caused rage to eat deeply inside of me. He should have arrested her since that was enough proof for him.
"Why did you let her go? The drink was poisoned, you saw it and you know it"
Father frowned at me while watching me closely. "And you expect me to believe the words of a stranger? A lowly Omega for that matter? Despicable!" He slammed his fist into the table.
I snarled. "Oh damn right, I will speak like that because your Luna committed treason!"
Father stood up, his eyes deep in rage, his body shaking from it and his eyes reddened in anger. "Watch your mouth before I teach you how to" It was a silent whisper, but the authority in his voice didn't go unnoticed
"Wow," a voice said from behind.
I turned and I saw the person in question.
The witch herself walked down the stairs slowly as she clapped her hands, chuckling amusingly.
I felt raw anger burn within me, the sound her heels made against the floor was fanning the embers of my rage.
"You don't expect Arthur to believe the words of an Omega over me," she spouted. "That Omega made everything up, can't you see she's using you?" Her words were laced with concern.
"She has bewitched you, son. Open your eyes. Omegas are very manipulative darling, she must have gotten Callum," she shook her head staring at Arthur.
I bit hard on my bottom lips in anger. Staring at my father and how blinded he was, there was no way this was ordinary. Any reasonable person couldn't act the way he acted. He was more like a puppet, acting according to her will and worshipping her feet at her command.
I turned to the door and kicked it open in anger. I couldn't breathe the same air as them for a second longer.
I felt the darkness stirring within me, a surge of frustration welling within me, frustration because I couldn't do anything about. I could remember my mother laughing at me, that woman I have hated as long as I lived.
I felt a strong desire to cause harm, maybe Max was right after all.
We had to kill her.
