Callum's POV...
I uncocked the bottle of alcohol, pouring it into the empty glass I held in my hands.
I dropped the bottle of alcohol on the table and placed the glass in between my parted lips.
I gulped down everything in one go as my throat burned and I choked on it.
I flicked my tongue in between my teeth and walked towards the balcony in slow steps.
I looked through the balcony as I heared footsteps retreated towards me.
By the over powering scent which snapped through my head, I knew who it was so they wasn't any need for me to turn my back in search of who was either ways going to appear before me sooner or later.
I thrusted my other hand into my pocket and I patiently waited for her to stand beside me.
Just as I had thought, Luna Rebecca stood beside me but my gaze remained at one position.
"You are smart enough to know why I'm here" she said and I scoffed.
"What if I tell you I really don't know why you are here?" I replied with sacarsm laced through my voice and I casted a glance at her as I removed my gaze from her.
"I'm your mother, so it's my duty to give you a reminder and bring you on track. Why are you so against joining forces with the dark sky pack despite knowing how powerful they are but for some foolish reason of yours, you are overlooking that fact?" she voiced, her voice echoing through the air.
I could see the fury in her eyes and her expression showed it all that she was unsettled.
She desperately wanted to know my reason for declining to join forces with the dark sky pack.
"I made my decision and no one has the right to question me about it. Also I don't want to talk about it, I'm really tired of having to drag things for too long especially when it comes to the affairs of the packhouse" I informed.
"Is your decision related to Liv? Callum I want to believe that you aren't going to put our packhouse in danger because of whatsoever feelings you have for that girl" she retorted and I swallowed down my frustration as rage pulsed through my veins.
The last thing I wanted to hear was her voice and now she's just bent on irritating me with the mention of Liv's name.
What had Liv gotten to do with my reason of not accepting the request of joining forces with the dark sky pack?
But, were her words really true? I asked my self frantically as so many questions imploded my head.
"The person you are referring to as that girl is my mate and the soon to be Luna of our packhouse so I'll appreciate it if you show her some respect" I let out in a low voice.
"She will never be welcomed in the packhouse and don't forget who you are talking to!" mum stated and her voice commanded respect.
A sly smile curled up my lips and I responded "Don't forget you are meant to listen to the alpha of the pack and no one else mother. You shouldn't question the alpha's decisions and no one knows that better than you" I answered back as a grimace creeped up my face.
She had really become a nuisance in my life and there wasn't any sign of her stepping back.
I could notice the anger that surged through her body but she was trying very hard to keep her temper in check, otherwise it might flop her plans for her.
She cleared her throat and glanced up at me with a stern gaze.
"Callum you are one of the alphas now and you are expected to work with your brothers so you all can protect our pack" mum suggested.
Her words irked me and I slammed my hand on the wall as I bit hard on my lower lip.
"You keep ranting about protection mum but if I may ask can I know what we need to protect our pack house from? is it from outsiders or from you? I really want to know!" I questioned but my words rendered her speechless as she stared intently at me.
I knew something was amiss when she brought up the topic of joining forces and if that wasn't enough, she decided to use the excuse of protection just so she could fool us but her plans were never going to work at least not under my watch.
Protection was just an excuse for her to hatch different conspiracies.
"Your brothers have given their consent so it's left for you to drop your pride and let's work together"
"Max and Ryder never agreed to your silly suggestions. You forcibly put words into your puppet's mouth so my brothers had to go with the flow and I'm sure you understand better." I announced.
"You are filling your head with thoughts that aren't true" mum lashed out at me.
"I shouldn't be blamed if you can't handle the simplest of truths and even if they do agree, don't forget I'm the lord of degree and no law is going to be passed without my involvement" I expressed as a feeling of power consumed me.
"I won't easily let you get away with whatever you've made up your mind on and that arrogant attitude of yours won't take you anywhere, it will only destroy you!" mum fired back at me and she walked away with anger thrummed inside of her.
"This attitude of mine has brought me this far and I won't be leaving it behind just because I acquired a position" I voiced out.
I knew she heared me loud and clear. My words must have left a foot print in her head as she will search for ways to get back at me.
The anger I had been building inside of me erupted like a dashing wave and I slammed the glass I was holding in my hand against the wall.
The glass shattered into tiny pieces and fell onto the floor. I rubbed my palms against each other.
"If you will permit me alpha, may I come in?" a voice asked and I turned to see a guard standing at the door.
"Come in" I ordered as he walked towards me and bowed his head in respect.
"Did you carry out the task I assigned to you?" I queried.
"Yes alpha just like you instructed me to do. I kept an eye on Liv in the dark sky pack, It was hard because the security was tight but I made sure I tried my outmost best to bring the answers you want"
The guard continued "I don't think she is safe there. She was very sick and it looked like Luna Jennie of the dark sky pack had a hand in it" the guard divulged as I balled my fists in anger.
I gave into Liv's persistent demand of staying in the dark sky pack because I felt that she wanted it and staying there would make her extremely happy and get rid of her worries.
I made preparations to keep an eye on her so my mind would be calm due to the fact she wasn't around me but the news that reached me wasn't pleasing to my ears, not at all and I couldn't stand her being harmed.
"I have one more task for you" I said.
"It will be my duty to serve your alpha. Please may I know what task you have for me?" the guard queried.
"I want you to bring Liv to where she truly belongs, the dark moon pack because this is her home. I don't care how you do it but before sunset I want to see Liv right in front of me" I uttered with a menacing look on my face and I sneered with disdain.
