Max's POV...
I stepped forward and poured myself a second glass of wine.
I drew out a chair to sit down and I leaned back, closing my eyes to finally relax.
I took several gulps of the wine and stretched my legs out.
I felt a shadow behind me, I tilted my head to see Mother who appeared before me.
"There's no need to stir up a conversation. I'm not in the mood to talk about anything" I announced in the most calmest tone ever.
I pursued my lips, dragged my gaze away from her and looked back at my glass of wine.
Deep down inside of my heart I was angry and no one knew about the pain I felt after suddenly loosing my dad.
There wasn't any sign of a sickness eating him up from within because if there was any of that sort, I knew for a fact I would do anything to save his life.
I woke up one day to hear about my dad's sudden demise and it left an unfading mark on me.
If possible I would make sure that the unfortunate date ceased to exist.
The incident leading to his death was very suspicious and alarming for me as the thoughts of mother being the reason behind his death pondered in my head.
"Being stubborn won't help either of us and I won't be leaving your room not when I haven't laid out my reasons. There is something I need to talk to you about" she said and her stubbornness irked the heck out of me.
"I'll appreciate if you respect my wish and understand this simple fact, I don't want to talk to you and there's nothing that will change my mind" I stated with the feeling of exhaustion creeping within me.
"Not even about Liv?" she voiced out and I looked up at her in a questionable gaze, her face mirrored the suprise look on my face.
"What has this got to do with Liv?" I asked with a bolt of curiosity, my voice almost inaudible.
She walked up to me and stood behind me as she placed her hands on my shoulders. Her fingers worked it's way up my spine and she gently massaged it.
"You need to relax Max. I'm your Mothee. I can always feel it when you are tensed" she said as I tried to stand up but she held me back and gently pushed my back on the seat.
It was of no use trying to talk to her. I would have known better that she used Liv's name to get my attention. I can't be blamed for feeling exhausted by her presence.
"I'm aware you miss your mate and there's a way you can get her back" she informed and I got more interested in her idea but I made sure not to show it so as not to give her an upper hand.
I kept mute without saying a word as mum let out a soft chuckle.
She continued "I know how to help you secure Liv for yourself. She will become yours only and no one else's" mum revealed.
"I know for a fact that you don't want to share Liv with any of your brothers. Do you know we were alike in many ways and I wouldn't want to share the love of my life with someone else either" she spoke and I listened carefully without interrupting her words.
"My other sons are the complete opposite of whom I raised up but you are just like me. You are her mother's son and I have no idea on why Callum and Ryder are thinking of sharing one girl amongst your selves" she blurted out and I could hear the feeling of disguist laced through her voice.
"All I know is whatever you are saying to me is being directed to one source and I want to know what it is? I stated.
"I can bring Liv to you without informing your brothers" she said and I huffed at her words.
She must have controlled fools all her life that she got so used to it to think that everyone surrounded by her was indeed a fool but I was definitely not a part of them.
Did she really think she would convince me using Liv as a target? Everyone knew how much she despised Liv so where did the change of heart suddenly come from?
"I can recall vividly well you hate Liv so why do you want to bring her back to our pack house?" I questioned.
"it's true I hate her as a girl who reeks of an omega's blood but I can always reconsider about everything since she's the woman you love and you need to start standing up to be the alpha your self because for as long as your other brothers are alphas they will always contend with your words" mum declared and for the first time in my life I agreed with her words.
I had never really thought of being the alpha myself. All I ever thought about was having Liv to myself, I believed with her around then everything could work out for me.
Liv was the key to unlock the happiness I desperately craved to experience.
"I'm not stupid not to understand that you won't decide to help me without getting something in return. What do you want?" I asked.
I stood up abruptly with my hand tightly holding onto the glass and I gazed intently at her.
"I need you to accept dark sky pack as an alliance"
"That won't be possible. You were present in the hall room and you heared whatever transpired" I pronounced.
"This is what I'm talking about Max. You don't need to hide yourself away from everyone. Don't forget you are also an alpha and you should try to convince your brothers. If it isn't working in your favor there's just one thing left to do" she voiced out.
"What is that?" I queried.
"You will have to stand up against your brothers" she declared, casting her most dangerous gaze at me.
"What are you even saying? Ryder might be calm but Callum definitely isn't. He looks the complete opposite of what he truly is, what about him then?"
"Forget about Callum and try to convince Ryder because at the end of the day, two heads are better than one" mum said and turned away from me, her footsteps faded into the darkness.
