Chapter 19
Cole
Delaney was bent over my desk as I thrusted into her over and over. Should I have heeded my friends warning? Sure, but we were caught up and having so much fun sneaking around. We’d thrown caution to the wind a long time ago and had been carrying on like we were teenagers without a care in the world for months. I had lost count how many times we’d snuck into a closet, her office, my office, the car on lunch… the list went on.
“Turn around baby, let me see you.” I pulled out and she stood and turned toward me, making me grab her hip, running my hand down her leg and bringing it up around my waist. “God, you’re beautiful and feel so damn good.” My cock was throbbing just sitting against her at that point. “Hold onto me.” She wrapped her arms around my neck, and I lifted her up and carried her to my supply closet which was behind a curtain.
“Tired of the desk, Professor?” She said with a giggle.
“I just wanna suck these tits while I fuck you so this counter will do perfectly, Dr. Anderson.” I nipped at her lower lip as I set her on the counter. The counter wasn’t too high that I couldn’t easily fuck her. It was perfect. Everything was perfect. She was perfect. She moaned as I thrusted into her.
“Cole, your cock is so thick. I feel so full. Oh my god.” She tossed her head back as I pumped in and out of her. One of her arms still draped around my neck and the other holding onto the counter. “Don’t stop. Harder.”
She was going to be the death of me. If so, I would die a happy man inside of her. “Fuck, Laney girl. You’re so wet and tight.”
Just then, we heard someone come in and yell, “Coley! You here? We gotta go or we’ll be late.”
Fuck.I had forgotten Carter was coming to pick me up. “Fuck. It’s Carter.” I pulled out of her and started tucking myself back in my clothes and she did the same.
“God… I can’t believe this.” She said, her tone filled with worry.
“It’s fine. Come on.” I stepped out and Carter looked at me with the most shocked but not shocked look on his face if that was possible. Delaney came out behind me right as she was buttoning the top button on her shirt.
“What if I had been a student? Or another fucking professor? Or the dean? You two aren’t kids. Pull your heads out of your asses before you blow your whole life up. Delaney, it’s good to see you again. Cole, I’ll be in the car.” Carter turned and walked out.
“This is embarrassing, Cole. He’s right. We fucked up.” She went to my desk and grabbed her purse.
“Hey, come here.” I tried to reach for her, and she took a step back. “Whoa, what is that?”
“Cole, I think I need space. This freaked me out. Carter is right. He is so right, and we’ve been so careless. You make me careless. I’m a mother. I can’t be careless. I need this job. I’ve said it over and over.”
“I make you careless? You mean I make you happy. We just made a mistake. We won’t let it happen again.”
“I mean, I’m glad it was Carter and not someone else. How mortifying would that have been? Can’t expect anyone to take me seriously if I don’t act like I have some damn sense. We made a mistake. Yeah. We need to cool it for a while. I’m sorry, Cole. I should’ve followed my gut a long time ago. I can’t risk it. Oh my god, imagine if Miller got wind of this. He would take Amaryllis from me.”
“Baby, stop. You’re spiraling. Miller doesn’t know shit and never will. And he will never take Amaryllis from you.” I tried again to move toward her and reach for her and she took another step backward.
“Stop. No. We can’t do this. We can’t.” She had tears in her eyes. “I love you, Cole. I do. I love you, but I can’t do this. Carter was right.” She wiped her cheek where a tear slipped and said, “I have to go. Please, don’t call. Just give me some space. Please.”
She turned and walked out, and I was left there stunned. Everything was perfect, and then it wasn’t.

Opening the car door and getting in, I looked straight out the window and said, “I think Delaney just broke up with me. So, thank you.”
“Look, thank yourself. You’re lucky it was me that walked in. I’m sorry she broke up with you, if that’s what she did, but Cole, you can’t lose your job, she can’t lose hers.”
Leaning my head back against the headrest, I closed my eyes and blew out a breath. “I don’t wanna talk about it. Where are we going?”
“Look. You two are perfect for each other. Just be smarter. She’ll come around.”
Turning my head to him, I didn’t acknowledge his comment. Instead, I asked, “Where are we going?”
“Men’s Warehouse. Vinny is already there. Hudson is waiting for us. He wanted us to knock the tuxedo fitting out together and be done.”
“Right. Ok, let’s go.”
Carter put the car in drive and took off. We rode to the store in silence. He didn’t bring what happened up to the guys and I didn’t say anything about it either. We were there for Hudson as part of his wedding planning, and I didn’t want to take the attention away from that. It was a big deal for him.
I was going to figure out what to do about Delaney. I had to. She’s it for me and I was determined to figure out how to get her to see that.
***
It had been weeks since I’d seen Delaney and Amaryllis. I hadn’t heard a damn thing from them, and it was depressing. I was depressed. It was all work and home. Had the occasional drink with the guys but Delaney had completely iced me out. After multiple unanswered texts and calls, I finally stopped reaching out.
At one point I saw Delaney talking to some guy at the campus Java Café. She was sitting with him, and they were laughing. She looked up and caught me staring at her which made her stop laughing and she quickly looked away. It had made me sick with all the thoughts that went through my mind about them. Were they talking talking? Who was he? Did she let him kiss and touch her the way she let me? He looked nothing like me. He was a smaller build than me, he looked soft. There’s no way he could take command of her the way I did, pick her up, lay her out over a desk and remind her who her pussy belonged to. There was just no way. I didn’t see the appeal and it wasn’t because I was jealous. Jealous of that guy? No. I was pissed.
So, I did the most logical thing any man would do. I walked up to them. “Dr. Anderson, I didn’t realize you came to the Java Café. It’s great to see you.”
“Hi, Professor Taylor. It’s um good to see you too.” She stuttered, perfect.
I looked at her with an eyebrow raised and then looked at soft guy and said, “How rude of me. Nice to meet you. Are you new here?” I reached my hand out to shake his and just as I suspected, his hands were too soft. Probably hasn’t done a single day of manual labor.
He cleared his throat and said, “Hi. I’m Dr. Andy Phelps.” Andy, his name was soft too. “I’m a new advisor. I just got here this week. Dr. Anderson has been kind enough to show me around.”
I smiled and nodded. “She is very kind. You’re learning from the best.” Giving another smile and turning my head to Delaney, I said, “I’ll see you around.”
She nodded but didn’t say anything. As I walked past her, I set my hand on her shoulder and squeezed gently. That small touch felt like electric currents running through my body and I hoped it had done the same to her because I needed her and no matter how much she wanted to deny it, I know she needed me too.
