Chapter 2 The Negotiation Table
I never thought the day would come when I'd sit at a negotiation table with Han Zheng.
We weren't talking about feelings. We were talking about money.
I had helped Han Zheng secure his position, but after Han Yiheng died, the actual authority in the Han family had always been with me.
This position was one he could sit in only because I wanted him to.
But now, he wanted me to leave.
The lawyer handed me the documents. "Mr. Han, please take a look. Is this enough assets?"
I ignored him and stared motionless at Han Zheng.
I only cared what he thought.
But there was no expression on his face. It was so cold it chilled the heart.
"Sign and take the money to leave. If you don't sign, I have ways to make sure you don't come back."
"Gege, let's not make it ugly."
Make it... ugly?
A dull pain hit my heart. I quickly lowered my eyes to hide the redness.
Actually, if I took a gun and gave an order, most people in the gang would follow me.
It was Han Zheng who was sure I couldn't bear to turn against him.
Han Zheng had never been innocent. He had the same ruthlessness as his father, something I had always pretended not to know.
My throat felt blocked by a wet cotton ball. In the end, I didn't utter a harsh word.
I picked up the documents and glanced through them casually. They weren't too bad for me. The assets were generous.
At a time like this, what pissed me off wasn't how he treated me, but that he thought our relationship could be settled with money.
Like paying off a stranger.
After a moment of silence, I picked up the pen and signed.
Afraid I'd lose control, I didn't say a word until I left.
But when I walked to Han Zheng's side, he grabbed my hand.
"Gege." He called me.
My hand stiffened. Instinctively, I wanted to hold his.
But the next second, I heard him say:
"The stuff at home... are you taking it back?"
A bitterness rose in my throat. I pursed my lips and smiled self-mockingly. "In a hurry to make room for the newcomer?"
I controlled my voice to sound calm, laughably trying to preserve the last bit of my dignity:
"No need for the unnecessary stuff. Just throw it all away."
"Also, since I'm not part of the Han family anymore, don't call me Gege from now on. Call me Jiang Zhong."
