Chapter 9 His Bursting Tears
If Han Zheng had not pushed me away, I probably would have fainted on him.
I shook my head. I pulled out the knife and tossed it aside. I leaned on the seat panting.
"I am crazy."
"Han Zheng, my chance of dying is much higher than yours."
"If you keep tormenting me, I might die before you—"
Han Zheng slapped me across the face before I finished.
"What the fuck are you saying?"
The slap turned my head to the side.
Something hot landed on my face. I shuddered.
When I turned back he had let go. He took the medicine and gauze from the car to treat my wound.
Even though injuries had been worse before, he seemed especially panicked this time.
He lowered his head. His hands shook badly. He spilled the medicine several times.
In the past I rarely showed pain when hurt. I did not want to worry Han Zheng. But now I suddenly wanted to see him care about me more.
"It hurts," I groaned softly.
Han Zheng's hand paused. "Hurts?"
I noticed his voice sounded off. I lifted his face. I saw tears falling from his eyes like a broken string.
Han Zheng's suppressed emotions exploded instantly. He covered his face. He could no longer hold back his hoarse sobs. He said brokenly.
"Sorry... sorry... Jiang Zhong, I'm sorry..."
His crying tightened my throat. I regretted it almost at once.
"I lied just now. The wound is not deep. It does not hurt. I watched the place... really..."
I wiped his tears. The more I comforted him the harder he cried.
He gripped my hand tightly. It hurt me a bit.
But I felt it was not enough. I wanted him to grip tighter.
Best if he never let go again.
Actually Han Zheng's acting was bad.
On the night we separated, when we did it he kept wiping his face. His kisses were more passionate than usual.
He said he liked someone else. But he could not hide the tremble in his voice.
It felt like a farewell. Yet he thought he acted well.
The asset transfer he had me sign almost gave the whole Han family to me. It looked like a will.
Now I saw what it really meant.
Han Zheng's eyes would not lie. They seemed to say he loved me.
He loved me very much.
