Isis #2

“Looking for Maggie…they can’t…I can’t find her,” she said before sitting up as she pushed her hair off her shoulders. She smiled and winked at a guy walking by before looking back at us. “Ayira is missing too.”

“Missing?” Asha repeated. “Knowing her she probably just went above ground. Okay and? She’ll be back, right?”

Souxie started to say something before tilting her head to the side.

“You haven’t heard…have you? About the attack?”

“At the pool? Yeah, that was my class…Nobody knows what the fuck that was about. I do know that teacher is probably gonna be fired,” she said as she pulled out a sandwich already pre-made and wrapped.

“That was your class? I had to draw water from a student that was silently drowning but…” I shook my head trying to make sense of it. “It was something else.”

“Yeah, it was crazy,” she said in mid chew. “Namir had to jump in there and save the girl. I’m like where the fuck does he learn how to swim like that? He’s a wolf I thought?”

“Y'all really don’t know,” Souxie said as she looked at the two of us. “Where is Quan?”

“I last saw him with Namir.”

I knew that expression all too well. Souxie’s mind was working overtime, but she suddenly masked it with a smile when a guy came up behind her.

He wrapped his arms around her waist for a deep kiss on the neck and cheek.

They spoke under their breath before he walked off and her eyes lingered on his.

“Someone was attacked by the First Family,” Souxie said with her eyes still fixated elsewhere. “They’re searching for Maggie who just so happened to disappear around the same time, and I think Ayira is with her.”

“She didn’t do it!” Asha blurted out with bits of bread spitting from her mouth.

“Obviously I know that.” Souxie stated with an attitude. “The problem is how it looks. Someone was able to penetrate the school barriers and send a message out to witch-born, and those of witch ancestry.”

Her eyes were still wandering, staring at each student that walked by, but her mouth continued to move.

“A Witch has been attacked on the Grounds. They want me to stay silent. Their fear of the First Family comes before the safety of the Underground. No more… The same message kept repeating over and over on the board written in chalk. The dean was just in Maggie’s house looking for her with two police officers. ”

I gasped as I gripped the edge of the table like I would fly off at any given moment. “Okay so what are we going to do?” I asked. “Do we just wait for her to return?”

Souxie smiled just as someone slammed their hands on the table. I looked back to see Clementine leaning over with her eyes peering at each of us with suspicion.

“I know you all heard the rumors,” she said with a snotty attitude.

“Just so you know, I don’t believe Maggie would do such a thing but it's quite suspicious, don’t you agree?

I have a little bit of witch ancestry in my family tree, so I was able to see the messages.

The First Family attacking a student? Here I am thinking she’s the last one outside of Dr. Holmes…

Where is my Soror, if I may politely ask? ”

Souxie leaned forward with a smile.

“You may not,” she replied with a sweet tone. “That is our business.”

Clementine smirked before looking at Asha who was strangely her target every time she wanted to be vulgar and rude.

“Too good to eat the free lunch the school provides? You know, the low income, and less fortunate types of lunch,” she said with a pout of her lips. Asha took a bite of her sandwich before nodding with a cheek full.

“You know rug burn,” she started with lettuce spilling from her mouth. “I think I’ve gotten used to you being up my coochie. Since I won’t allow you to be in my face or in my ass, you’ve settled–––”

Clementine rolled her eyes and walked off in mid-sentence just as the doors opened with several officers in uniform walking into the dining hall.

The chatter and noise of students suddenly leveled to whispers as they began to walk towards the double doors that led to the second dining hall.

A tray was placed down between Souxie, and I as I looked up to see her man she apparently couldn’t shake, Harmless Harvey.

His round glasses, crisp white shirt with the tie made him look neat and professional when he sat down beside her.

His cologne smelled sweet but the eyes darkening every other minute was his incubus nature always itching to come out. Such sexual deviants.

I didn’t even notice Solomon walking in until he quickly came over to our table and leaned in towards the center. Our eyes nervously locked for a moment before turning away as I cleared my throat.

“Hit my phone tonight,” he said before walking off.

“Who is he speaking to?” Harvey asked, confused.

“Any of us…there is no difference,” Souxie said softly just as a man walked by our table, almost as if he were in a hurry and came up behind Harvey’s chair and crossed his arms over his chest. The maroon hoodie barely clung to his thin body as the man looked Souxie up and down with disgust. Then glared back at Harvey, waiting for his undivided attention.

Even Asha had to stop eating and watch because what exactly is going on.

“So this is what we’re doing Harvey?” The man let out before gripping the back of his chair. “I’ve been calling you and texting you, but this is what the fuck you’re doing?”

Harvey continued to eat before leaning back in the chair to look at the man. Just the move along caused the man to spazz out.

“Mothafucka, I will air this bitch out and tell everyone you sleep with men,” the man threatened in a low voice through his teeth. “Do not play with me because you sitting next to this saddity bitch–––”

“Well,” Souxie let out as she tucked her hair behind her ear, “I do try.”

“Baby, this is a gay man,” he let out before suddenly letting it be known out loud.

“This man right here is a liar! He’s a liiiiiyerrrr!

Harvey got these girls thinking he likes women but he in fact, sleeps with men!

I was just with him the other night, kissing fucking and sucking and he acts like he can’t message me back! No phone call! No note! Nothing!”

Asha’s mouth dropped while I clasped my mouth in complete shock. I could see people looking around as Harvey turned to focus back on his food. He was irritated but I bet it had more to do with the fact that Souxie was smirking in his face than the man outing him.

“While you’re running around pretending to be straight.

Don’t play with me. I don’t play those types of games.

We could have had a good time but you–––You got the right one,” the man said.

I could see the manic and almost obsessive black haze in his eyes.

He was obsessed after one night, but this is why I always say, werewolves and incubus, are a no for me.

Entirely too much energy spent on a man and his sex. I could never.

“I never called or text you back because the sex was trash,” Harvey said as he leaned back in the chair to look at the man.

“I’m not pretending to be anything. Straight, bisexual, I don’t play into those pointless titles,” he said with a dismissive tone.

“Gives people like you a reason to use it against me, or whatever the fuck this is you’re doing now.

I fuck what I like and like what I fuck.

Your sex was trash. That’s why I didn’t respond to your calls. I’m no longer interested.”

The man’s face fell flat as the embarrassment began to spread. He suddenly turned and walked off as if he never walked towards our table. “Oh?!” Harvey shouted. “You’re leaving now! Your head was trash! That’s why I never hit you back!”

“Harvey, enough,” Souxie said as she gripped his knee.

“What purpose do you have coming here to threaten me with a sexuality preference? I’m a grown ass man.

I’m very well aware of what I like, and with who.

Why would I hide that? Not one of these little pussy ass boys sitting around me,” he suddenly snapped.

The snickering jokes and whispers around us about his preference came to a halt.

“I’m not one of them; I will beat the fuck out of you. ”

Whatever chatter or noise was suddenly changed like a channel on a TV.

The men who were heard making jokes suddenly spoke about sports while others turned away.

Even Asha was about to say something before deciding against it.

Harvey pulled his chair back to the table and began eating again as he smiled and winked at Souxie.

“Hi beautiful,” he greeted gently. “You like that ignorant shit, don’t you?” She rolled her eyes before turning red as she looked away. “Yeah you do…”
