Isis #3
The sound of a soft click suddenly whistled and filtered the air as I looked around.
Solomon was standing in the center of the dining hall giving out the signal through his teeth.
Noticeable to the trained ear, you could see several students suddenly get up as more followed.
Just about every siren quickly gathered their things as the officers eyed him.
Solomon stared back as he motioned for the sirens to leave out the front door.
Asha nervously looked at Souxie who nodded.
I could see other sirens looking to her for confirmation on whether she was leaving with them or not.
“Shit…man,” she muttered, balling up her sandwich wrapper. “Y'all keep me in the damn loop, please. If y'all hear from Maggie, let me know.”
“Will do,” Souxie and I said as we watched her walk out prompting several others to get up and follow.
It was a bold stance against the police and Solomon didn’t dare to back down.
He kept his eyes on the uniformed men until everyone of his people were out before he walked out of the dining hall with the doors closing behind him.
“The inability to think for yourself is something I hope to never experience,” Harvey said with a posh yet masculine tone. Souxie rolled her eyes while I smiled. He was absolutely perfect for her whether she knew it or not. He bit down on his fry before looking at Souxie.
“Don’t you agree?”
“Not at all…I think group think can be a form of protection and security.”
“You can protect and secure yourself,” he snorted.
“Yes, but to be surrounded by those who truly mean you no harm and want nothing but the best and will make sure you have the very best…. There is something to be said about a man that can manage an entire multi tribe of mythics…It’s…sexy, right Isis?”
I almost choked on my drink as I began coughing and hitting my chest.
“What?” I coughed.
“Isn’t there something sexy about Solomon?” She asked with a teasing tone.
“He’s not your type,” Harvey cut in. Souxie’s smile faded as she stared at him with annoyance.
“Tell me, why are you sitting by me again, Harvey?” She asked. “After a man just walked over here and basically made me look like a fool?”
“Does that make you upset? I’ve told you, whenever you’re ready to be in a relationship with me, just say it. If not, I am free to have sex with who I want, same as you.”
He stared at her in mid chew, waiting for her response but she simply turned her head with nothing else to say. He seemed to have cracked the code.
“Besides,” he added. “Whatever this is, I want in.”
Souxie whipped her head to look back at him as I sat up, curious myself.
“What do you mean?” I asked.
“The stupid cops searched me and my brother’s place when we weren’t there. The dean seems to think we pose a threat, my brother and I have already been given a warning.”
“A threat?” Souxie asked as he showed her his phone to read the email.
“A baseless one at that,” he retorted as he started to eat again. “I am only attending this idiotic school for one reason. I don’t necessarily need this so, whatever this is? I want in. What do you know so far about the missing women?”
Souxie looked at me as I shrugged.
“He could be useful,” I silently mouthed.
“The witch who was attacked by–––”
“Xavier,” he replied. I froze as Souxie’s mouth fell open.
“Did you not gather that from what the dean said? A student who she’s had a problem with before?
Xavier was attacked. One of the men I deal with told me he heard he was attacked outside of the school, drained of his blood and everything.
My guess is he’s going to use this to his advantage and with your friend gone…
and out the way? It leaves room for someone to step in her place. ”
“What place?” I asked. “She never had a place. Maggie is our friend.”
Harvey leaned forward as his eyes blacked out and remained fixated on me.
“Have you not been watching the news? The fall of Dr. Marvin T. Holmes is being televised. It’s all the media can talk about, breaking apart this man’s life and wrong doings.
There is no other First Family that is stepping up or coming to his defense.
There is no one except for her. She is the last one remaining.
Whether that’s true or not, it doesn’t matter.
If she’s truly gone…she’s left it wide open for others to step in.
My guess is this is just the start. My suggestion…
you all should not be sitting so close to one another every time. ”
“Why?” I asked.
“Because you all will become targets next. Whatever you do, move in silence from now on.”
“You sitting next to me makes you a target, Harvey,” Souxie said softly while touching his ear. “Is this not dangerous as well?”
His eyes blacked out completely as if he had empty eye sockets and turned to look at her. Souxie grinned as she playfully leaned back but you could see her eyes darken briefly, fluttering like she struggled to keep the lights on.
“Who is going to step to me at this school?” He asked, voice deep, bordering on demonic when he spoke. There were layers to his tone where you could hear the threat until he cracked his neck as his eyes blinked back to natural dark brown.
“It is only a mere suggestion,” he said with a scrunch of his nose as he pushed his glasses up. Souxie stared at him, clearly turned on before gently patting his thigh, and exhaled name with a sigh.
“Oh Harvey…Harvey…Harvey…”
