792 I DID WANT TO KILL HIM

Cane thought he would feel something when he finally met with alpha Derick, some kind of nostalgic feeling when he met the person, who once close to him and his family.

However, that feeling didn’t come, because when he saw alpha Derick again, he felt nothing but unfamiliarity.

He remembered him, but the closeness was nowhere to be found, yet he was glad he didn’t need to deal with that unnecessary feeling. He had a lot on his plate to deal with and the state he was in right now made thing easier for him.

"Cane, we don’t need to go further with this unnecessary fight, we can work together and take down Alan.

Prince Kellan has a plan for this." Alpha Derick moved closer to Cane.

He still saw him as a young man that he met years ago, though physically he noticed a lot had changed.

"Right now, we can work together. Josh will be so proud of you to continue what he was fighting for. What we were fighting for."

Cane let out murderous intention.

Kellan wanted to take down Alan? Was that the garbage he fed alpha Derick, so he was still blindly loyal to him, thinking Alan was still the same stupid crown prince in the past?

It didn’t take a genius to tell that Kellan already knew who was the true ’current Alan’. Decratic must be the one, who healed his legs and now, he wanted to feed him with the same narration that he gave to alpha Derick?

"That’s your fight alone, alpha Derick, I am not on your side." Cane wanted to kill someone when he heard the mention of Kellan’s name. "Where is Kellan?"

Alpha Derick didn’t seem to be impressed with the way Cane addressed Kellan without his title. It was rude and impolite in his opinion.

"What changed you, Cane? What narration that alpha Colter said that made you take his side?" The warmth on alpha Derick’s face faded away, as he looked at Cane with sharp eyes. "Choose your side wisely, Cane. You are treading a dangerous path. Your father will not like this."

"My father is dead, you don’t need to worry about him." Cane had said the same thing when someone kept trying to make him walked the same path and chose the same decision like his father.

"Cane!" alpha Derick roared, but there was nothing that he said after, because what Cane said was simply a brutal truth that he needed to deal with.

There were only the two of them there, while a little bit further, Cane could see Cezi, while he took Jace with him, who kept a safe distance, enough for the beta not to hear the conversation between Cane and alpha Derick.

"If there is nothing else do you want to say, you can go back to your warriors and prepared to meet your demise, or you can come with me and I will show you what kind of vile person the prince you adore so much."

It would be hard to fight the warrior from Celestial Moon pack, because all of them were born to fight. With the position of their pack and there was constant monster attack, their strength and prowess in a battlefield were top notch.

However, for Cane there was no way back, it was whether they won this war or they died.

Alpha Derick narrowed his eyes and now Cane could feel the anger rolled off his body after what he said.

He was not at all happy with the fact that Cane degraded his loyalty to prince Kellan.

"At first, I thought prince Kellan made a mistake when he had this suspicious that you wanted to kill him by giving him a poisonous wine, but now. .."

"I did it," Cane admitted readily, without even waiting for him to finish his words. "I did want to kill him." Now the situation had changed so much, there was no need to hide his intention.

Alpha Derick’s expression went from anger to shock and then enraged. "CANE!" he barked so loud, Jace and Cezi could hear him and this put the two of them on alert. Whatever the conversation they were in, it didn’t go well. "How dare you to do that to the prince?!"

"Derick," Cane addressed him without his title.

"If your intention to come and see me is only to get me to your side, you can get lose and if you want to get the antidote for your daughter, I don’t have it.

" Cane tilted his head and nodded at Cezi.

"I thought I have made it clear last night with Cezi. "

Alpha Derick didn’t have any idea that Cezi was having a meeting with Cane last night. He turned his head and glared at Cezi, who could feel his father’s wrath was directed at him, but he didn’t have any idea why.

"I will see you in the battlefield tomorrow, Derick." Cane held a little bit hope that he could talk to alpha Derick and convince him for the sake of his friendship with his father, but now when he saw him in person, he knew the alpha had succumbed to deep to believe whatever he said about Kellan. It would only waste his time and energy to explain things to him and he didn’t even want to start it when alpha Derick was very riled up when he didn’t even address Kellan properly.

He was a lost cause.

At the very least, with this meeting, Cane knew he had tried and he had nothing to regret or was being bothered by the question ’what if’ when he really met him in the battlefield.

"CANE!" Derick screamed, he charged forward, wanting to grab him and stop him from leaving.

He had been torn to fight Cane in the first place, thus suggested this meeting in order to convince him to surrender.

It was not they were going to let Alan ruled the kingdom, but prince Kellan had a plan to snatch what belonged to him in the first place.

Prince Kellan would have all the support he needed to usurp the throne if Cane agreed to cooperate, more so, there were people from Holy Kingdom and also Red Claw pack behind his back.

These forces were enough to take down Alan without him being able to do anything major.

It would be an easy battle to put prince Kellan as the sovereign.

However, who would have thought Cane would openly reject the idea, he didn’t even think twice when he disagreed with it.

"CANE! STOP RIGHT THERE!" Alpha Derick barked his order, he used his alpha’s voice against Cane, which unfortunately didn’t work at all, thus he needed to stop him from leaving physically.

Alpha Derick grabbed his arm, but Cane had a great reflex, as he twisted his hand and pushed him away, which caused the old alpha stumbled and Cezi immediately rushed to get his father and Jace did the same.

The tension was very thick in the air when both men reached their respective alphas and growled at each other.

"Cane! This is supposed to be a civil discussion!" Cezi snarled at him.

"Take your father back to your campsite, Cezi." Cane’s voice was very powerful, his eyes were very sharp and dark when he spoke. There was a glimmer of hatred and anger in those golden eyes. "Unless you hand over Kellan, I will not cease the attack."

And after saying that, Cane turned around and left with Jace, leaving the father and son alone.

Alpha Derick shrugged off Cezi’s hand from him and then glared at his son. "Did you meet with Cane in secret last night?" he asked in stern voice.

Cezi was startled when he met with his father’s rage, but he knew he couldn’t escape from this, thus he faced him directly.

"Yes, father. There is something I need to tell you."

====================================

It took them a day and half to be out of the territory of Chrystal Moon pack, but they still needed another two days to reach the Cane’s campsite.

Right now, this was the first night Iris was out in the open area with Eron and Dyne.

The two of them just finished built a small tent for their luna, despite her insistence to sleep on a simple sleeping bag, the two of them didn’t allow her, since the wind was still cold and the ground was still wet.

The winter just over, but the weather was rather cold for Iris, who had low tolerance for coldness.

They moved only the three of them because it would be easier and faster. More so, the monsters were reported had moved to the north, they had never seen a monster again around the south, even in Goffa mountain, at least that was what the report told them.

This weird phenomenal was pale in comparison to what was happening, thus it didn’t bother them so much.

When Dyne explained to Iris about the route they would take, they heard a commotion and Eron’s loud voice, who was cursing at something, or... someone.

"What is that?" Iris stood up and Dyne immediately jumped in front of her in protective position.

"Eron?! What happened?" Dyne shouted, they could hear the ruffling sound of leaves and hasty footsteps. There was another voice now.

And before their figures could be seen, Dyne was already growling in annoyance.

"I found him following us, luna!" Eron grumbled, as he showed Zale when he emerged from the dark. He carried him by the hood of his cloak, leaving the young boy hanging.
