820 THE WAR OF DARKNESS AND LIGHT (5)

Aliana watched how one by one the warriors met their demise and the roaring sound from the monsters became even more vicious. She was trying so hard to compose herself, thinking of a solution of how they could get them into the pack without endangered the people inside.

Meanwhile, behind her, Joel, Eron and Dyne were still having an argumentation with the knights.

"You can decide that easily because it’s not your people out there!" Joel was furious. The young warrior was ready to throw a punch or two to these knights.

"Don’t you feel embarrassed to hide behind our back and retreat safely, while my people still out there?!" Dyne couldn’t hold back his anger and Eron said the same thing. He wanted to snatch the lever, but three knights blocked their way from coming closer to it.

"If you don’t move aside, I am going to kill you before those monsters killed my people!" Eron snapped.

"Don’t you hear what I said before?! We can’t open the gates!

The monsters will enter the pack too! You will risk a lot of people’s lives!

" Cedric was frustrated. His eyes were bloodshot red and to be honest, he was indeed embarrassed because his knights couldn’t help much in this battle.

He indeed realized, he and his knights had been looking for shelter from the warriors during their retreat to this pack without even they realized it.

"Then you and your knights could prove your worth for once! Go out there and fight them all!" Joel’s rage was not something that you could see every day.

Thankfully, before the situation escalated even more, as Otis came to join with altercation, Aliana noticed something in the distance.

It was hard to see it among the dust and countless monsters, but under the bright of the sunlight, its white fur was indeed eye catching enough, especially when this bear brought more bears with it.

"Lil Thing?" Aliana muttered. She remembered the last time she saw this creature, it was only the size of a stuff animal, but right now, Lil Thing had returned to its huge size.

Not only that, it brought around hundreds of bears with it too.

Bear was a mere animal, not a monster, but their strength could be compared to some of the monster, especially when this animal became very aggressive.

During the winter they would hibernate, this season was when they came out from their hibernation, but it would always be a mystery how Lil Thing managed to gather this huge number of bears with it.

"Stop it! Open the gates!" Abby suddenly appeared to stop the argumentation, she looked a little bit pale after she took care of Redmond’s curse, which thankfully was within her mean to expel it, but it drained her energy so much.

The salamander was in her arms, the size of this creature was as big as a puppy now.

"Serafim! We can’t do that!" One of the knights protested, he started to tell her what would happen if they opened the gates and she shouldn’t make a rush and an impulsive decision.

"I am the one, who gives you an order and you must obey me!" Abby roared, while Liam walked behind her, he didn’t say anything, but the look on his expression would tell you that he was not happy with Abby’s decision too, yet he kept silent.

"Serafim..." Cedric came forward and tried to persuade her, though he could feel his persuasion would meet with rejection. The determination in Abby’s eyes was very clear, she didn’t leave a room for a negotiation.

"I said, open the gates, now!" Abby enunciated every words clearly, she could feel the salamander coiled its body in her arms.

Right at that time, Aliana shouted from the fortress, telling all the warriors to retreat to the gates, as they were going to open it. She watched as the beasts moved back, though it was not easy, since the monsters kept fighting them.

After that, Aliana went down to where Abby and the rest were. "Open the gates!" She demanded when she saw Cedric was still hesitated. "There is reinforcement!" she said urgently.

"Reinforcement?"

All of them stared at her as if she was saying something very silly.

They didn’t have reinforcement. The only reinforcement they had was more knights from the Holy Kingdom, but they wouldn’t be here until a few weeks later and alpha Colter’s warriors were still trapped inside Diandem pack with Kellan’s warriors surrounded them.

"Look out there!" Aliana shouted, telling them to climb the fortress and see for themselves what happened behind the gates.

After that, Aliana took the leadership and gave orders to all the warriors to be ready at the gates, as they needed to kill the monsters that managed to enter right away.

"Where is the magic user!?" Aliana looked around.

Four magic users came forward. One of them had died during their retreat and even though four magic users wouldn’t make a significant contribution, but they could buy them some time to deal with the monsters.

"Serafim, please make a good use of the lizard," Aliana said, she had seen what the lizard could do, it would be a great help if Abby could use it as good as the luna did.

"Okay," Abby replied, but she frowned slightly. This was a salamander, not a lizard though...

Within less than three minutes, everyone was already in their position. From behind the gates, they could hear more vicious roars, as if there were more additional monsters that came out of the portals.

However, that was not the case, only Aliana and some of the people, who currently looked out from the fortress that realized what kind of reinforcement Aliana meant.

"Open the gates!" Aliana roared her order and then shifted into her beast.

============================

When Lu marked Iris, he created the connection between them. After all, mate bond was another form of connection between two shifters, who supposed to be with each other until their last breath.

Mate bond was a sacred thing, but the sanctity of it was tainted for decades.

A male shifter should only live for one woman, but it didn’t happen in this continent.

The previous kings had changed the tradition and if you drew a line back, you would be able to see that the influence of the Decratic’s worshipers had been around for a long time to destroy the sanctity of it.

Deliberately used this continent as the place he would be revived again one day.

This continent was very filthy, where abominable and loathsome act were treated as a common thing. Most shifters lost their morals and minds, creating a perfect place that suit Decratic the most.

Especially now when the five divine swords that Na had created had gone, since she could no longer preserve the purity in her heart and started killing people, when she succumbed so deep into the darkness, where hatred, sadness and misery and all the negative feelings involved.

That was why, this was the last resort for Lu. He forced the connection between them again. fixed the bond that he had created.

Iris screamed in pain when Lu bit the mark on her neck again. The pain was almost unbearable and she struggled in his arms, but Lu didn’t let her go, despite the dagger in his chest, he didn’t let go of her.

Na...

Lu kept calling for her.

While Cane tried to reach his mate.

There was this blinding light that erupted from Iris’s body, sending a great shockwave to her surroundings that Decratic didn’t even expect at all. The devil was thrown away because of the magnitude of it, so did Lou and Zale, as the rock where they were hiding was broken into pieces.

The merchant desperately used his protection spell to protect the young boy and himself from the effect. This was even greater by a hundred folds than the backlash from Abby.

Lou couldn’t see clearly, neither he knew what was going on and why the backlash happened. Yet, he didn’t have time for that, because he needed to focus on saving himself, or else, he would die in the tangled of this strong energy.

Dang! Iris was very powerful!

But, it didn’t go unnoticed by him when the howling wind mixed with Iris’s scream, she was in so much pain and it hurt Lou and Zale to hear that. They had this impulsive urge to come and look for her, but it was not easy with their current situation.

Iris felt this pain. She was struggling to get away from Cane, but she couldn’t. His grip on her body was very strong, despite the wound on his chest.

Iris blinked her eyes and saw her surroundings for the first time.

All this time, she felt like her body moved on its own, while she was hiding behind a curtain. The world around her was not clear, she felt like she was going to sleep, yet she still could hear what happened, though all of those noises didn’t make her wanted to go out of her slumber.

And this excruciating pain snatched her consciousness, forced her to open her eyes for real and she saw how the world had turned into blinding light, while someone kept calling her name.

This was a familiar voice. The sound of it could calm her nerves, she could easily say, this was her favorite sound.

Gradually, Iris could feel the warm of the body that hugged her. Calmed herself down and brought her back to reality.

Yet, there was this disturbing feeling that gnawed in her heart the more her world became clearer and she dreaded to face it.

"Iris..."

That voice called her name again and this time, she looked for it...

At the same time, the same thing didn’t happen to Cane. He felt the world caved in on him and his surrounding turned into a darkness.

The commotion and the howling sound of wind gradually dissipated and vanished. It was very silent here. He didn’t know where he was and why he was here, but slowly, as he walked away to look for something that he didn’t even know, he heard this soft sobbing.

Out of instinct, Cane followed the sound and it led her to a little girl, who curled her body on the dark floor. Everything was so dark, but weirdly, Cane could see this little girl clearly, as if her little body emanated her own light.

This girl had her curly auburn hair covered her face. Her hair was so long and a little bit messy.

The sound of her sad cries hurt his hear. Eventually, Cane knelt down and caressed her head. She looked familiar, but he couldn’t remember where he saw her, or if she resembled someone important in his life.

"Why are you crying?" Cane asked. He caressed her trembling back and the little girl put down her hand. A pair of blue eyes that stared back at him was the most beautiful eyes that he had ever seen. But, those pretty eyes wetted with tears.

The little girl blinked her eyes and a fat tear streamed down her chubby cheek. She pouted her lips and looked around her. She flinched when Cane wiped away her tears.

"Why are you crying? Don’t cry." Cane found himself talking very softly to this adorable little girl.

"People hurt me," she said. Her voice was hoarse, it filled with sadness and fear. "Are you going to hurt me too?"

"No." Cane immediately shook his head. "I will not."

The little girl pursed her lips and scrunched her brows. "You are a liar. You also hurt me." She pushed away Cane’s hand. "You hurt her."

"’Her’?" Cane frowned. "Who?"

"Her." The little girl emphasized her word.

And their surroundings changed. It was no longer the darkness and silent, but they were inside a room. Someone was screaming, begging the other person to stop.
