825 THE WAR OF DARKNESS AND LIGHT (10)

Hearing what Cane said, hurt Iris’s heart. She cried even more and rested her head against his chest, while Cane caressed her head. He needed some time to regain his strength.

Everything that happened, had drained the alpha and the weird memories he just walked through left him exhausted emotionally.

"I have never done anything right for you.

The thought of me making you cry repeats in my head.

" Cane ran his fingers through her hair, while his mate was crying.

"I am sorry for making life difficult for you.

Giving you more trouble to endure. I am sorry for giving you pain which was so uncalled for. "

Iris shook her head. "Please, stop. You are hurt too... don’t apologize to me..."

She couldn’t imagine what kind of pain that Cane had to go through to be here and the alpha also felt the same thing, he was very grateful Iris was strong enough to endure everything.

Both of them had been hurt and had gone through their own hell. Life was not fair and they knew that so well now they had walked every milestone in each other’s lives, they knew their own mate better than anyone else. They knew their pain.

"I am sorry, Cane... I am sorry for leaving you alone when you needed me." Iris cried her heart out.

The mate bond between them had broken, but the feeling they had right now was genuine. They cared for each other. They loved their own mate even without the mate bond between them...

"You never left me, Iris. You are always by my side." That was why he was still alive.

In their lowest point, Cane had promised himself that he would end his life the moment Iris was gone. Therefore, she had never left, or else, he wouldn’t be here too.

Iris bit her lip, she clutched his clothes tightly, afraid she was going to lose him. The sound of his heartbeat was really comforting.

It was a bright afternoon and this long battle had not yet ended.

Iris and Cane poured their heart, but this was not the right time, their moment was interrupted when there was this vicious roaring from the distance that shook the ground.

"Luna! The dragon!" Zale shouted, he pointed his finger at the sky, as all of them watched the dragon had healed and was ready for more attack.

"Sorry for the interruption, but can you heal me? This is fucking painful," Lou groaned, he had never this injured before, the thought that devil got a chunk of his flesh made him sick and right now, his vision had blurred. If he didn’t get the help that was needed, Lou was sure he wouldn’t be able to see tomorrow.

What a ridiculous way to die....

Iris lifted her head and straightened her back, she wiped tears from her cheeks and kissed Cane. "I will be right back."

She then went to check on Lou’s condition. She frowned when she saw how bad he was injured, but at the same time, she also knew that she could heal him.

"You look more beautiful when you are worry like that." Lou grinned, but Iris told him to shut up. "Oh, you are crying..." Lou pointed tear that streamed down Iris’s cheek.

"I told you to be quiet," Iris groaned because this merchant talked too much.

"I hope you are crying for me," Lou said and then closed his eyes.

Zale was stunned, he stared at the luna and the merchant back and forth, and then watched how Lou’s wound healed very fast, but the merchant didn’t open his eyes at all.

"Luna... what happened with him...?" Zale asked after Lou’s wound had fully healed, he was afraid Lou was dead. He didn’t like him, but he didn’t want him to die either.

"He will be fine."

Zale whipped his head and saw the alpha came approaching them. He looked a little bit pale, but his complexion looked better now his wound had healed.

"Stay here with him," Cane said and then shifted into his beast form.

Iris knew what Cane intended to do and give the same order to Zale. He needed to stay with Lou, until someone fetched them. Lou would be fine, but he needed to rest. He was not only injured, but had drained his strength after he used his magic power excessively.

After that, Iris climbed on the top of the black beast’s back. She did it naturally, since she had done it very often.

Both the alpha and the luna was heading toward the Silver River pack’s gate, where the dragon had started its attack on their fortress.

Fire could be seen at the north part of the pack, while the monsters outside of the fortress were waiting to be able to enter their last fortification.

Iris prayed, they wouldn’t be too late to save everyone.

From the look of it, there was no way they could fight the dragon, unless this creature descended from the sky and they did the same trick like the lycan had done before and climbed on its back.

However, dragon was a smart and cunning creature, it wouldn’t make the same mistake twice, more so, there was still Dexter, the magic user, who rode on its back. This devil pawn was reeked of vengeance after he witnessed what Cane had done to his woman, Aria.

He wanted nothing else, but did the same thing to him. But, before that, he was going to burn down the entire Silver River pack! He was going to kill all the people by Cane’s side, so he would know what kind of pain he was going through right now!

"Take cover!" Zephyr roared. "TAKE COVER!"

Fire was everywhere and not only at the fortress area, but the dragon easily burned down the pack member’s houses. This majestic creature spared no one in its wrath.

"Take cover!" Kian helped the pack member to take cover from being burned into ashes by the dragon, but aside from this, there was nothing they could do.

And if the monsters managed to enter through the gates, they would be done for. There was only a miracle that could save them all.

Meanwhile, the two magic users could no longer use their magic. The magic stone with them had ran out and the Sylph that the Serafim summoned had disappeared, since Abby fell unconscious. She had drained her energy and right now, her condition was also very concerning.

The knights surrounded her and Liam stayed very close with her.

"Cedric! Bring your knights to the sideline and help the pack member! What are you doing taking a shelter over there?!" Aliana growled angrily at Cedric.

Cedric didn’t heed what she said. They lost so many knights and now their number dwindled to only around a hundred left, but at this time, Cedric prioritized the Serafim, he was trying to find a way to escape this hellish situation.

To keep the Serafim saved until the help from the Holy Kingdom arrived.

They needed to bring the Serafim out of this continent. This situation was out of their hand. And now, Abby was unconscious, the decision of their movement rested on his shoulders.

Because no matter what, their main duty was to keep the Serafim safe.

There was this feeling that crossed the knights’ mind at time like this; if only the Serafim was strong enough, they would win this battle and these shifters wouldn’t look down on them, neither they would dare to order them around recklessly.

On the side, Grace just finished healing Lil Thing’s ear, the white bear looked pitiful without one of its ear and looked uncomfortable and confused, probably because it couldn’t hear its surrounding clearly, but Lil Thing was lucky to survive.

"We need to leave this place! The dragon aimed to burn down the whole pack!" Redmond roared to Jace. The beta had healed and currently was discussing their best shot.

"Do you really thing we can outrun that creature?" Jace glared at Redmond. That was the problem. They couldn’t outrun the dragon, no matter how fast they were.

And the fact there were pack member of Silver River pack, made it more impossible for them to abandon this fortress.

"Yeah, but we can’t fight that creature too!" Redmond retorted. He had his point, that was also true.

And now, they were stuck between rock and hard place.

Above them, fire blasted and flames licked everything that could be burned, while the gates were shaking. It wouldn’t be able to hold out the monsters out there for a moment longer.

"That’s the alpha and the luna!" Joel informed them, he climbed up the fortress with the other warriors, in hope they could catch a chance to climb on the dragon’s back, but with no luck.

However, they caught two familiar figures in the distance.

Under the light of the sun, Iris’s auburn hair making her looked like she was on fire, more so, who wouldn’t recognize the black beast that she was riding.

Even from afar, there was no way, they wouldn’t recognize the alpha’s beast.

"The alpha and the luna are here!" Finn shouted, he announced all the warriors, who was taking shelter from the fire. His face flushed with excitement, his eyes lit up with new hope.

"Are you sure that’s the alpha and the luna?!" One of the warriors asked.

Finn growled at him. "Do you think I am blind not to recognize my alpha and luna?!" he snapped back at the warrior, who doubted him, shut him down.

"What we should do now? Open the gates?"

Now they were facing with a new dilemma. Opening the gates would make the monsters entered the pack. They were already having a hard time under the attack of the dragon, let alone with additional of a bunch of monsters, but if they didn’t open it, their alpha and luna would die.

"We need to open the gates!" Joel shouted sternly.

"Are you crazy?!" One of the knights opposed the idea. "Are you going to kill all of us?!"

Once again, the argumentation broke between the warriors and the knights, but out there, Iris and Cane were already close enough for the monsters to notice them.

After trying to take down the gates with no avail, their attentions were shifted toward the two of them and without missing a beat, those monsters charged toward the woman and the black beast.

However, the black beast didn’t even slow down, if anything, the beast dashed toward them like an arrow, while the woman on its back used her power to purify the black magic that tied the monsters down, preventing the lycan to control them.

One of Lu’s power was to control the monster, in which he shared the power with Na, in extent to Iris, but because these monsters were under the spell of black magic, he couldn’t do that.

Iris needed to purify them all first before Lu could take control upon them.

Iris felt this surge of energy when she gathered her divine power. She became more and more better on holding onto her power right now and could use it as she liked, as if this was in her nature to be able to do so.

Once the monsters were freed from the black magic spell, all of them stopped emanated killing intent toward Iris and Cane, they actually let the black beast to use their body was the support to climb on top of the fortress with Iris on its back.

Iris tightened her grip on the beast’s fur when it climbed the fortress by using the monsters, leaving all the people, who witnessed this speechless.

At the same time, the dragon returned and made an attempt to attack them, but Iris used her protection shield to block the attack.

The heat of the fire burn the tip of her hair and her dress, without the barrier, both Iris and Cane would have turned into ashes.
