832 PUNISHMENT FROM THE ALPHA
When Cane said that Abby was having a romantic relationship with Liam, Iris was surprised, but she felt like she already knew about this. She picked up Cane’s habit and had her own observation. The news was surprising, but it didn’t really shock her.
However, it was not the same when Cane told them about Abby’s pregnancy. Iris was utterly speechless, because this was the first time she heard about this.
Even though Grace couldn’t do much with Abby, since her constitution was the same like Iris, but at the very least, she could check on her and tell them that she was doing well and her body was in progress of healing.
That was the time when Grace discovered Abby was pregnant, a month long when she learned about it, which meant now, she was almost two months long.
At first, Grace was going to tell Cedric and Liam about this, but then she went against it because this piece of information was valuable and the alpha could use it for his own advantage, especially when the secret of the lycan was laid in the open.
Cane needed every piece of card that could benefit him.
Despite fighting alongside each other for the past few months, the shifters and the knights were not really standing on the same side. They had their own opinion and differences.
That was why, Grace didn’t tell them immediately and bring this piece of valuable information straight to the alpha, in which Cane asked her not to say anything.
From that information Cane could deduce what happened between Abby and Liam and this strengthened his theory about the father of the Serafim’s child.
"You are lying!" Abby screamed. She backed away, tears welled up in her eyes when she stared at Cane, as if the alpha was going to kill her or hurt her, but all she could see was the alpha’s stoic expression.
"You can call the healer if you want to make sure of it," Cane said calmly, he stood up and looked at Cedric and Liam, the two knights were pale. They were not able to utter a single word.
"The healer? The healer from your pack? Can you guarantee that she will not lie to my face?" Abby hissed her words became more hostile, as her body was shaking. She was overwhelmed with emotions and didn’t know how to navigate her feeling.
"That, or you can wait until you are showing." Cane didn’t look flustered when he was facing the angry Serafim. "You can wait for another two months."
Cane remembered when Iris pregnant with their children, her stomach started to show a little bump around that time, but because she was wearing thick dress, people wouldn’t be able to tell.
Abby balled her fists, her face turned very red, just like her hair and a tear streamed down her cheek. It was not sure whether she was angry with Cane or she was only confused of what to do, but these emotions were like a broken dam and she didn’t have any idea of how to handle it.
Seeing how the conversation turned out and how it deviated from the main topic, Cane excused himself and Iris.
"I think you need time to think about this matter carefully, I will let Grace knew if you needed her professional advice." He took Iris with him when he walked out of the room.
With this, Cane could buy time to think his next step of how to deal with the people in the Holy Kingdom carefully. He could use this piece of information to strike a deal with them, but for now let the information sunk in.
"Why didn’t the healer tell me since the beginning?" It just clicked in Abby’s mind when she saw the shocking look on Cedric and Liam’s faces, which meant they didn’t know about this too.
Cane glanced at her over his shoulder. "This good news should be informed to the mother, not to be relayed to someone else." He then added. "No matter how you feel about this, I want to say congratulation for your pregnancy."
Cane was not mocking Abby when he congratulated her.
And after saying that, he walked away with his mate, whose became very silence, she didn’t utter a single word until they went to the carriage that had been waiting for them to take them to meet with alpha Derick and Cezi.
Cane dropped the report that he was reading because he could feel how gloomy Iris was and caressed her earlobe to get her attention. Iris shook his hand away, but still didn’t say anything.
"What it is in pretty head of yours?" Cane tapped her forehead with his forefinger. "What is bothering you?"
Iris avoided his eyes, she looked struggling to voice out whatever thing in her mind right now and Cane patiently waited for her to open up.
But when she didn’t seem wanting to talk about it, Cane gave a little bit push.
"Is it about the baby?" Cane asked this carefully, this was a sensitive topic for both of them and albeit Iris looked like she was doing fine, he didn’t know how much she could handle to talk about this topic with him.
"Cane." Iris lifted her head and looked at him in the eyes.
"Yes?"
"What if I couldn’t give you another child?" she asked.
From the sound of it, Iris felt guilty for not being able to protect their children and more so, there would always be this gnawing feeling of responsibility to give birth to the alpha’s child, despite Cane told her over and over again that the blame was on him, because he was the one, who had problem of fathering a child and got her pregnant in the first place.
However, what this realm expected from the woman had messed up with Iris’s mind, when the women were expected to give birth and continue the bloodline, this way of thinking had been the core obligation of every woman in this continent.
"Iris, I have you and that’s enough." Cane didn’t bother to explain to her about how it was his fault, since he had done that a few times and she simply didn’t want to listen. She knew the problem was with him, but she kept insisting to take the blame. "Let’s be happy together, only the two of us."
Cane was there, he watched closely when Iris gave birth to their children, coupled to the experience when his son was being taken out from his mother’s womb, he couldn’t say those memories were something he would look back fondly.
Cane was done with this. He wouldn’t put Iris through the agony of giving birth again and more importantly, there was no way for them to have their own children now Grace couldn’t concoct the same medicine when they didn’t have enough water magic stone.
"Cane, you know very well that a child is very important..."
Cane cut her off immediately. "You are important.
You are more important." He remembered the smell of blood, how thick and sickening it was to think that a lot of blood came out from your petite mate. He remembered how Iris was about to give up because the pain was unbearable. He didn’t want to let her go through that experience again.
More so, the situation was not safe. He didn’t think neither he and Iris could bear it, if something happened to their baby, if by some miracle they could have their little one again.
The conversation about the Serafim’s pregnancy must be something that triggered Iris. Cane should have been more careful when he talked about it.
"But, Cane..."
Cane kissed her lips to stop her complain, he nibbled on her lower lip when Iris insisted she wanted to talk and then put his hand on the back of her head to deepen the kiss. He only stopped when she seemed not to bring the topic up again.
However, when Cane moved away from her, Iris covered her mouth with her hand to prevent him from kissing her again, so she could finish what she was going to say.
"If your aim is the throne, you still need an heir, what are you going to do about that?" Iris asked behind her hand. "Let’s say we can survive this crazy Decratic and everything is going well according to your plan."
Meanwhile, Cane could only stare at his mate’s stubbornness, she became very cheeky now. Usually, this method was enough to stop her, but as it turned out, Cane had to think of another method.
"We can raise a child to take the role." Cane had thought about this matter carefully and for now, this was the only way.
Iris was not really happy about this, but she didn’t refuse the idea right away, she frowned a little and Cane put down her hand to caress her lips.
"I only want you, Iris. I don’t care about a child." To be honest. He didn’t even want to try it anymore. Losing three children were more than enough, this was the kind of pain that would stick with you until your last breath. "I only want to be with you."
Iris sighed deeply and hugged Cane. She said nothing, but when she rested her head against his chest, her blue eyes flashed with complicated feeling.
She didn’t want to give up yet and she knew Cane only said that because he couldn’t afford another heartbreak and disappointment, but if the miracle could happen once again. ..
Iris’s gaze became so deep, as she moved her hand to caress his chest and slowly move down to his stomach before she carefully brushed her fingers against his member.
"Iris..." Cane caught her hand and his mate lifted her head to kiss her.
Iris pushed him down and laid down next to him, but her hand didn’t stop touching the lower part of his body.
Her kiss became wilder when Cane tried to stop her from touching him, but Iris was persistent and when she slipped her hand to touch him directly, Cane couldn’t resist her anymore. The feeling of her small hand that wrapped around his erected member was heavenly.
Their breathing became erratic and the carriage became a little bit shaky. The people outside could see that and smell of it made all of them turned awkward.
Ethan and Aliana, who were sitting on the coachmen seat, seemingly became very interesting with the scenery, as they ignored the soft moan from inside.
Meanwhile, Redmond felt like he wanted to kick the door of the carriage. He was glad that the two of them were in good terms again and Iris was back to her normal self, but wasn’t this too much? They were not alone, for God’s sake!
The carriage they were using was not the one with Haco’s magic, therefore you could hear it as clear as day, especially when you have great senses.
Until this point, Iris had not yet learned about Haco’s death, since no one brought this up with her.
This journey became very insufferable for the warriors and they wished they could reach their destination faster. Thankfully, they stopped and spared their sanity midway.
Unfortunately, it took them six more hours to be in their meeting point, where alpha Derick had been waiting for them, he only came with his beta and gamma. Inside the carriage must be Cezi.
"We are here, alpha, luna," Aliana informed them and Cane was the first one, who came out. He told her to check on his mate and then strode away to meet alpha Derick first.
Aliana was confused at first, but when she entered the carriage, she could see why and this make her chuckled.
"Are you being punished by the alpha for being naughty, luna?" Aliana teased her when she saw how the alpha gave her hickeys, which she frustratedly tried to hide.
"Help me," Iris wailed.
