Chapter First of Many #7
I saw flashes of orange and black. I linked EJ, “You’re not going to believe this, but Tigers are about to attack us.” EJ linked, “I’m sorry they are Weretigers? They exist?” I snorted, “According to my mate they are actually Werebengals, and they do in fact exist. I’m looking at them.”
EJ asked, “What’s the damn difference between a Tiger and a Bengal?” I laughed, “Many things apparently.” EJ warned, “They are on the East border too. I’ve left men on the North and West borders. Stay safe, little brother.” I replied, “Right back at you, big brother.”
EJ linked the pack, and I instructed the Warriors on where to go. I could already tell these Tigers weren’t coming here peacefully. Oden said, “Freya doesn’t find it fair she can’t shift, but she does understand.” I wanted to wince, because it wasn’t fair.
I saw Bradford and linked him, “Take a group and get past the Tigers. I want you to see if more of them are coming.” EJ linked me, “Emmett has people coming up behind them.” I relayed that to Bradford, “Alpha Emmett and his people are coming, but you have a keen sense for this. I trust you to sniff them out.”
Bradford smirked replying, “I bet you’d never thought you’d say that to me.” He was right, I didn’t. I shot him a look. The man wiggled his eyebrows at me. This was just a different side of Bradford I will ill-prepared for. Oden hummed, “His wolf is better now too.”
I stood with Melanie at my side. I yelled, “One of you shift back and explain the meaning of coming towards Black Mountain’s territory like this. Do so now, or we will show you no mercy.” Oden scoffed, “I have little mercy as things stand.”
One shifted back and I snapped clothes on him. The man said, “Your pack is powerful enough. The time of the Bengal’s is now. We have come for one thing and one thing only. Once we have it, we will leave. We do not want to hurt you all.” He was lying.
I snorted, “I don’t know what rock you live under, but you will not defeat us.” The guy laughed, “You didn’t even ask what I wanted.” I admitted. “I don’t really care. You could’ve set up a meeting with us, but you didn’t.”
“You chose to be aggressive and sneaky about coming here. You intended to take us unaware and harm my pack. I can’t say I like you much.
Your intentions don’t matter. We have many things in this pack, but I’m not inclined to give you anything.
Particularly since I know you’re lying. Your motivations tell me that. ”
The man smiled boasting, “Bengals are sneaky. We want the White Wolf.” I growled at him. Oden snarled, “MATE IS NOT A THING! SHE IS A PERSON!” My dad said, “You came here and want to die for a rumor?”
The man said, “We have believed and been taught the white wolf was coming. We have been ready to unite and bring her home the moment she appeared. With her by my side, I will be powerful.” Melanie gripped my hand tightly. How dare he call my mate a thing and then say he wants her at his side!
Oden took over declaring, “Leave or die.” The man smiled mockingly saying to me, “Bad call.” He shifted back into his Tiger. Oden chuckled telling him, “I have skills you wouldn't believe.” Oden linked me, “They know Mate is the white wolf.” No.
I asked my wolf, “How do you know that?’ Oden answered, “Because Freya knows and she told me” I linked Melanie, “Stay by my side.” I’d tell her to run back to the house, but she wouldn’t. My wife nodded to me.
I studied her noting didn’t look afraid.
I knew Freya had to have told her they knew her identity.
Oden said, “Mate knows.” I turned to my Guard saying, “Illa vulnus in ea non accipit. oppugnabunt eam. Incolumem serva. (She does not get a single scratch on her. They will target her. Keep her safe).” My mom asked, “Quare (Why)?”
Melanie answered, “Oppugnabunt me quia sciunt me lupum album.
unus dentium remotus est. Ador est, ut lupum album agnoscat.
Familia eius per generationes iain debet.
Freya alica cognoscit. Est aliquid facere nosmetipsos incolumes servare.
Scientes quod venturi sunt nobis. (They are going to target me because they know I am the white wolf.
One of his teeth has been removed. It was spelled to recognize the white wolf.
His family must have been doing it for generations.
Freya recognizes the spell. It's something we can do to keep ourselves safe. Knowing when they are going to come for us).”
My dad linked me, “Well, at least we know we need your cousins and Aunt to study that tooth.” I added, “And Paige.” I linked EJ, “They are here for Melanie.” EJ linked, “Yup, we got that speech. Their leader must be on your side.”
I growled, “He is. Oh and he has some spelled tooth that tells him that Melanie is the white wolf.” EJ sarcastically grumbled, “Well isn’t that just great.” Red Run popped in. I felt Jason now standing behind me.
One of Melanie’s friends that lived in their pack must have told them about the attack since they would’ve seen it on the watch. Tristan had already shifted and was beside Melanie growling. Melanie looked completely calm unlike the rest of us.
Blue Moon popped in next. Dylan cooed, “Lucas, you are so late! I had Lacy tell you ages ago what was going on. We need drills on drills about urgency! Travis, up your schedules. It’s not my fault everyone was being slackers.”
Lucas huffed at him. Dylan replied, “I told you the exact border. You don’t need to drop everyone off together and show up where the party is last. This is because you’re an Alpha Sleep Tyrant. You need more sleep and to let me plan all the things.” Several Tigers chuckled.
Yellow Hills was coming up behind them, but they didn’t seem to notice. The Bengal’s snarled and lurched forward. Hundreds of them came out of hiding. I used my pushing power as my mom started using her own powers.
I saw Bengal’s being pulled into trees and smiled, knowing Julian came to the border with me. Melanie had taken out a knife from her shoe. She was killing people left and right. This was a terrible plan. Then I heard several howls of warning.
Melanie took off like a shot. I looked and threw people away with my wind. I nearly faltered as I saw what Melanie was running towards. My dad yelled, “DYLAN, NO!” Finn shifted back and screamed, “DAD!” I popped to Dylan but was thrown back.
I growled, “FOR GOD’S SAKE!” Melanie tackled a Bengal about to take out Dylan’s throat, but I knew what had caused that to happen. Dylan was an amazing fighter, but Emma Frost was hurt. Dylan had thrown himself in front of her. The two were surrounded now, but my mate was in there with them.
I realized what they were doing. I linked my pack, “THEY ARE COMING FOR THE MATES! THEY WANT MINE SO THEY ARE TRYING TO FORCE EVERYONE IN A POSITION OF POWER FIGHTING HERE TO NEGOTIATE. THEY ARE AFTER THE LUNA’S AND BETA FEMALES! THEY WANT US TO TRADE!”
Melanie linked me, “No, they aren’t… that’s…
umm… so… they want to kill them, to weaken those in power.
” I snarled. I linked the pack, “I want ten Warriors on the field with every Luna and Beta Female. My Luna believes they are going for the kill to weaken us.” Wave after wave of these people came at us.
Emmett lurched into action trying to get his twin sister, but Emma was on the other side of the barrier with Melanie and Dylan. Dylan was in bad shape. Lacy’s wolf was pacing right outside, whining. Melanie was administering aid to Dylan. They were talking but we couldn't hear them.
Melanie checked on Emma and pulled a claw out of Finn’s mate. Emmett’s wolf roared in anger. Lexi was screaming. Chase was trying to get back to them while his wolf snarled. I shifted back asking, “Emmett?”
Emmett cried, “I don’t have the Hackura bond you do to your siblings, but Emma is my twin. I know she’s been poisoned, and I know what it is.” Gage groaned, “Don’t say it.” Emmett growled, “It’s Mintor poisoning.” My eyes widened.
Melanie linked me, “I’ve got this, Emma will be fine.” How could she have this? Mintor poisoning was a death sentence to a Hood member. My mom and I needed to get in there to save Emma. My mom had grabbed Lexi who was throwing herself at the barrier trying to get Emma.
My dad was trying to get to Chase, but he was having trouble. I threw people out of his way and dad took off. I announced, “My mate says Emma is going to be fine.” Emmett growled, “That’s not possible unless you get in there, or your mom, and we all know it.”
Sierra and Abigail each snorted. I disagreed, “I don’t think that’s a thing all of us know. Some us clearly know other things. I myself and somehow not a part of the us that knows. Other than my mate told me it would be fine.” Emmett raised an eyebrow.
Oden offered, “Freya said it will be ok.” Maybe Freya could heal Emma since she was a wolf. Melanie pulled a syringe out of her watch and stuck Emma with it. Valentina shimmered herself and Sierra out. What the fuck?
I linked Julian, “Where did they go?” Julian answered, “To get more of the serums Melanie has. They will be right back.” Where the fuck were all these Tigers coming from? Emma sat up and took a deep breath.
Finn sank to his knees while my mom brought the rain. Jayden formed a tidal wave around Finn to keep him safe. Valentina shimmered back with several duffle bags and Sierra had more. Emmett shifted back into his wolf and took off.
Melanie handed her knife to Dylan then ran off because she could just get in and out of all the dome’s and bubbles. I growled, “MELANIE, WAIT!” My mate was on a mission though. The bubble around Emma and Dylan came down.
My mom instantly went to Dylan. She told Lexi, “Emma is fine.” Emma said, “I actually do feel fine. Better than fine actually.” Finn ran through the water surrounding him which dropped to the ground and started to send Bengal’s scrambling for footing. They couldn’t get their feet steady under them.
