Chapter The Dance

The Dance

Alexander popped to the dungeons. I sighed when I took in the survivor we had. EJ linked me, “He doesn't look that old. Nor does he seem like a bad person like his brother.” I asked out loud, “How old are you?”

The kid answered, “I’m fifteen. Werebengals shift at fifteen and my birthday was a week ago.” Marvelous. Oden huffed, “Sarcasm noted.” I told the kid, “Look, I’m going to honest.” The kid replied, “You’re a Fairy. How else could you be?”

I answered, “Evasive. The truth is, I don’t want to kill you but if you are a danger to my mate, family, or pack; I will.” EJ asked, “What’s your name?” The kid sighed, “My name is Irfan. I am no danger to your mate.” I didn’t know if I believed that just yet.

I asked, “Have you guys been hiding around here?” Irfan answered, “Just for the last few weeks.” I asked, “You shifted here then.” The kid winced, “Yes, in a bunker. I didn’t get to run in Tiger form like I wanted.”

“As for some background, we are from India. My brother always brings me along with him if he leaves our area. He brought those that agree with him, but not all of us agree with their ideas. We know our true purpose. They tried to corrupt it for power, but most do not agree with him,”

I surmised, “Then there are more of you.” Irfan nodded and admitted, “My sister should lead us. Our brother imprisoned her and her mate. All so he could lead us down this path to our destruction and death. It’s not like there are many of us, and he led a lot to their slaughter today.”

I asked, “What exactly was the plan?” Irfan sighed, “Obviously to get the white wolf. In his delusional state, my brother planned to take out your mates so we could take over the area. He believed with your wolves of rank weakened, and grieving with the loss he inflicted, that it would be easy to overtake you all and take over.”

I pointed out, “That doesn’t make sense. Particularly since none of you had any intention of killing my mate.” Irfan shook his head, “No, but we didn’t know the white wolf was your mate until we were talking to you.”

“Only my brother knew for sure, but he linked us once he knew. Which meant you were off limits and no could even try to kill you. Which I tried to tell him would make his plan impossible, but no one listens to me.”

I snorted, “If I wasn’t dead, he would not take this area.” Irfan agreed, “I know that, but he was just blinded by his own greed.” I asked, “Why did he want my mate?” Irfan explained, “We were told the story of the white wolf. You call it legend, but we never did.”

He sounded awe struck telling us, “We knew she was real and would come to unite us. We are meant to be her protectors, but my brother corrupted some of our people on that point. Our stories say the white wolf will unite the shifters.”

“The white wolf will stand for all as her people no matter if they shift into a wolf or not. Our ancestors had us living in secret so that when the white wolf came onto the scene, we could be her secret weapon. It was supposed to be something sacred that would be an honor and protect her.”

“I would be honored to be your mate’s guardian. That is what most of us believe our purpose is. Obviously, her power and what she could bring to her mate was too much for my brother. His heart was turned to ideas of rising to dominate using that power.”

EJ questioned, “Then why would your brother order Alexander to be kept alive? That doesn’t make any sense.” Irfan blushed, “Umm well the texts we have say the white wolf cannot have pups with anyone but her mate.”

“I know that your legends say she is taken advantage of and killed when a pup who is also a white wolf isn’t born; however, we are not sure where that even came into play. What we know is that she can bear no mark but her fated mate. She would never be able to choose a chosen mate either.”

I snarled at the thought of my mate with someone else EJ gripped my shoulder.

Uncle Logan linked me, “I’m here and I’ll just point out, Melanie never wavered in her love for you.

You were always her choice. Everything she has done has been single minded on protecting you.

Laxenread is huge and had to take her years. ” That did calm me and Oden down.

Irfan continued, “Your Luna can also only be impregnated by her fated mate. As she is a fierce fighter, immune to the effects of drugs she is practically impossible to take advantage of in that way.” EJ hummed, “Unless she’s in heat.” Oden huffed while I growled.

I linked my wolf, “Join me in my anger.” Oden said, “Freya said it isn’t true.” Ok? Irfan shook his head saying “No, not even in her heat. Luna Melanie has the ability to electrocute people. Any male who touched her while she was in heat, with the intent to mate her, would be shocked.”

“Not killed but the only males who can touch her are her mate or those with the intent to get her to safety. Her body will accept no other than her mate. It’s her protection as her smell for her heat is three times that of a normal Werewolf. As she is a goddess in her own right.”

I heard a squeal. I didn’t even have to ask who that was. I turned as Dylan Frost came into the light of the dungeons. Oden said, “Fang is delighted.” Naturally. My brother’s father in law dragged a chair over and sat down smiling.

Dylan said, “Irfan, my buddy, my pal, my source of information, we MUST compare notes. I’m the resident Werewolf version of the white wolf expert.

You know things I do not, and I like to know things.

Let’s share deets.” Lacy came over with Dylan.

Not that I blamed her, if what had just happened to Dylan happened to Melanie I’d be right by her side too.

Irfan frowned and told him, “I am telling you all what I know.” Dylan smiled replying, “And I’m recording it.

See the man I share DNA with but don’t claim as my father had a theory about the white wolf’s heat, but he could not find proof.

You and yours clearly have some other facts, mine was missing.

To be fair, you seem sane and my DNA sharer was not. ” I rolled my eyes.

Irfan said, “Yes, well when Alpha Alexander’s mate goes into heat it might send the surrounding area into chaos until he gets her out of here.

” Dylan clapped, “That sounds fun. Back to things that will help settle the Alpha’s.

To make it perfectly crystal clear, MelAshley can’t be hurt though, right? ”

Irfan shook his head, “No, she cannot in the way you mean. A heat does hurt until their mate takes away the pain though.” Dylan smiled, “Well, then I like this cub. Do you guys call yourselves cubs? I’m a man of the people. I switch around with names.”

Irfan said, “I was a cub until I shifted, yes.” Dylan cooed, “And what a cute cub you are. That’s going to be such a good time when MelAshley goes into heat. Such fun will be had. I might get to see an exploding head or two.”

“It’s been too long since I’ve seen that. Plus, we could just round up some bad guys and be done with them. No paperwork or waiting for them to mess up. They would just get their head exploded by Mini Moody SGAP.” I growled.

Dylan smiled at me saying to Irfan, “See? He’s very uptight for a Fairy. The Conners boys just want to be the youngsters of our generations in an early grave. There’s a pool about if they will die before they turn three hundred.” Oden scoffed, “There is not.” I got the feeling there was.

Dylan hummed, “Don’t worry, I’ve enrolled them all in Yoga to work on their inner chi. I have someone coming to teach them about meditation and breathing techniques. I’ll get them to three hundred and five. I feel I can squeeze out five extra years for them.”

EJ snorted, “Joy.” Irfan smiled, “He is funny.” I dryly explained, “He’s also serious.

Someone is absolutely going to show up and tell us to meditate.

” Dylan cooed, “Of course they are. The question, and element of surprise, is when my person shows up. It will be when you least expect it. I have learned from the Creepy Ninja Assassin ways. I am but an apprentice continuously trying to be a master.” Christ.

Dylan turned back to our prisoner, “Anyway Irfan, do you know more of what the white wolf can do?” Irfan nodded, “As the guardians intended for the white wolf, we do know quite a bit about her.” Dylan asked, “And that would be what? Detail it out. Tell Dylan all you know and purge your soul. You’ll feel better. ”

Irfan explained, “Well, the original White Wolf has many powers. Powers of the goddess that she is.” I said, “I’m sorry my mate is a goddess? She doesn’t just have a piece of a goddess with her in wolf form, but an actual goddess?”

Irfan nodded and continued, “Yes, she will ascend eventually, as will you as her true mate.” Dylan shrieked, “WHAT?! THEY WILL ASCEND?! HE’S AN ACTUAL GOD NOW?! OH, CRUEL UNIVERSE! That’s just par for the course of knowing the Conners. I will be sending your dad my therapist’s bill for this.”

Irfan laughed, “It’s not just the two of them.” Dylan shouted, “Oh dear goddess! Is it all of them?!All the Conners? Someone say no! HELP! I’M TRAPPED IN SOME WEIRD PLACE AND I CAN’T GET OUT!” Lacy rubbed his back while gawking herself.

Irfan told him, “You should talk to the promised siblings. It was written that the White Wolf would be part of their family. We don’t know much about them.

” Dylan smiled asking, “Is my goddess really a goddess? I manifest things and speak them into being. In truth, I have been calling her a goddess since we met. I so did this.”

EJ linked me, “This is weird.” I shot back, “This kid just said I’ll be a god. He’s implying we all will be, so I think we’ve passed weird.” I linked Oden, “Did you know?” Oden said, “I mean my name is Oden. You not knowing is kind of on you.” I snorted at him.
