Never a Dull Moment #5

Freya hummed, “Just prepare yourself for our punishment. I, myself, am looking forward to it.” I snorted, “You agreed to take the hit from Alpha Sail… because you wanted Xander to punish us?” Freya linked, “Duh. Don’t you just know it will be amazing?” Crazy, horny wolf.

Alpha Roguer walked into the meeting room we were in. I frowned because…. I didn’t know much about him, but I knew plenty of people weren’t his biggest fans. They couldn’t prove he swindled them, but plenty Alphas whispered about it.

Just because other people couldn’t prove it…. didn’t mean I couldn’t. Those people weren’t me. It wasn’t actually bragging to say I was better at finding things than other people were. Those were just facts. Freya agreed, “You are correct.” Exactly… so I asked Xander for my laptop.

Cayden linked me, “What are you doing?” I answered, “Finding the truth. This business proposal’s numbers are… well, for lack of a better word…. wrong. Not much noticeable, but here and there the numbers… just can’t be accurate given the market for what he’s talking about.”

“I have an expansive profile in my investments. His numbers are wrong… and I find it hard to believe he doesn’t know that. Particularly given the rumors that surround him. People say he cons them… but they can’t prove it… I can.”

Cayden snorted in response. What? What did I say?

My calculations were right… which meant I was right.

Freya agreed, “You are and Cayden knows it.” I shoved the snorting out of my mind and got to work.

It wasn’t hard to prove what Alpha Roguer had done.

He was still giving his pitch too… unsuspecting that I was ready to come at him.

I decided to hack into Dalton and Dakota’s meetings for the day. I sent Tristan a list of what was coming so he could separate the good deals from the bad. I went ahead and hacked the schedule Toby set up for EJ and Alexander.

I winced, knowing… Toby would probably be upset again, but…

I wanted to make sure they were getting good deals.

I easily picked them out and commented where they could make amendments and the deals they shouldn't even bother with.

Alpha Roguer was still talking so I hacked Malachi and offered suggestions there too.

Tristan linked me, “What the hell? You hacked me?” I reasoned, “I hack everyone… and you knew I hacked you already. So… the comment seems odd.” Tristan admitted, “This is good information. Did you get this all legally?”

I replied, “Plausible deniability is…. a thing, big brother. In fact, it’s probably a thing you all want to …

. hang onto here. People’s bank records are not things…

. one should have or ask… where one got them.

They should just say thank you… and use said information internally amongst their pack.

Did you get my information about Alpha Roguer? ”

Tristan snorted, “Uh yes. Does Alexander know this yet?” I replied, “Interrupting a presentation is rude. You… mom…. dad… Jase… and everyone in our home pack said so… when I used to tell people they were wrong… so Xander doesn’t know yet.” Tristan snorted.

I used my watch to send a text to Phil. My friend’s mate linked me, “What the actual hell? Does Alexander know this? Sierra seems to think he won’t yet. He needs to know.” I sighed, “What is it with you …. and my brother?”

Phil groaned, “T knows?” I explained, “He read his email… so yes. As far as my mate… I’m going to tell Xander. I’m just waiting for the presentation to end…. It’s polite…which is what I’ve been told my entire life.” Phil sighed, “Now I’ve got to hunt Toby down, he’s going to be upset.”

I linked, “He might be more upset I hacked him again. Well, not again. I’ve already hacked him so….it doesn’t count.” Phil started laughing really hard. I closed our link when Alpha Roguer finished his presentation.

Freya urged, “Get him.” I planned to. I asked the man leading questions and gave him the opportunity to be honest. It was hardly…. my fault…. Alpha Roguer did not take the opportunity. Freya agreed, “You did try.” With my wolf on my side… I cut him off at the knees. Metaphorically.

Alpha Roguer would not take advantage of my brother in law or my mate.

I dismissed him, but he didn’t take the hint.

He tried to bring up the rules of the Summit.

I knew the rules of the Summit backwards and forwards.

Alpha Roguer was the one who broke them in the first place… which meant I could do what I wanted.

Dylan wanted to make a statue of me. At least mine would probably be flattering like Haley’s.

I definitely didn’t want one like Eric’s…

. or Xander would react badly. I was already hacked into Beta Dylan’s email so…

. I’d see it if he planned to go back and forth with the manufacturer like he did with Eric’s.

The disconcerting thing was, the one Dylan ended up choosing was actually one of the tamer choices. It could’ve been a lot worse. So, people could say what they wanted to…. but Dylan didn’t go full on nuclear with his choice.

Dylan slid it in that he was selling statues on his website. He didn’t mention that Eric’s statue wasn’t for sale on his website either. It was just Haley’s. EJ tried to get into the details of how I’d known all that about Alpha Roguer.

Seriously… these people needed to understand more about plausible deniability. Freya teased, “You tell people that a lot.” Yes… well Caine and Dax couldn’t ever understand I was helping them. It was a thing…. and all of them should absolutely embrace it.

The rest of the meetings were boring since I’d already gotten the information we needed. I had kept my laptop, so given the fact my work wasn’t needed, I sent Caine and Dax information about their meetings… since it was their first summit…and they totally expected the email.

Then I decided to work on recipes for mine and Karina’s Bakery. Before we broke for the day, I sent her my ideas. If Karina liked any, she could try to make them and test them out at the pack house. They loved being our taste testers.

Xander let me use the pack’s Ipad’s for surveys. Most people actually used them to respond. So far there wasn’t anything they didn’t like. I didn’t know if that’s because they were Werewolves…. who were generally always hungry, or because of the food alone.

Karina and I were discussing a human test group as well. We had enough humans mated into the pack. We were going to get them together to test our food to get their honest opinion. Bradford had smirked… but I was being diligent with the bakery along with my partner.

I noticed Alpha Emmett take off like he’d been shot out of a cannon during our break. I sat down and pulled up my computer. I frowned because…. I didn’t have anything. Eric linked me, “You didn’t miss anything. It was some random rogues and a car accident.”

I snorted, “Are we sure it was random? Car accidents… tend not to be.” Eric snorted out loud then replied via link, “Sometimes a car accident is just that. If you don’t have anything on it; I’m inclined to believe it was a car accident.” It wasn’t.

I asked, “Who was in the car?” Eric replied, “Keaton. Keith has the rogues. They will be questioned. My Angel will make sure they are telling the truth for Lexi. I’m confident this was just a car accident either caused by rogues or that happened and they took advantage of.

” Of our honorary Resistance member?! This was just a spit in my face.

Freya said, “It’s not.” It felt like it.

I asked Eric, “Is Keaton ok?” Eric snorted, “Yes, one of his classmates stumbled upon him. She fought off rogues impressively according to Keith. She doesn’t know about Supernatural’s though, so she took him to a human hospital.

” That would be his girlfriend, Katie, then.

I asked, “How do you already know all that?” Eric smiled answering, “Sources.” Probably former Alpha Chase.

Or a Warrior of ours was on the border and went to offer Yellow Hills assistance…

with the rogues… who definitely wanted me to kill them.

Freya snorted, “They are probably dead and we have priorities. Like getting punished by our mate.”

I went to help Alexandria while she waited for updates. We all knew Keaton was fine. I showed her his chart, “Keaton only has a concussion. Ok, no… his shoulder was also out of place. They popped it back in… though.” Someone hurting my honorary Resistance member was making me mad.

Sierra linked, “You literally proved Keaton’s fine.” I retorted, “People really… just want me to kill them.” Sierra argued, “They do not and the rogues have been taken into custody.” I huffed, “Custody should mean their CORPSES! He’s MY honorary Resistance member… rogues can’t cause car accidents.”

Sierra reasoned, “Yes, they can.” I reasoned, “Not that take Keaton by surprise… he has Alpha and Hood reflexes… which means this was a blindside hit.” Sierra argued, “Those happen sometimes. People get lucky.” It felt wrong to let this go, but Eric and Sierra thought I should.

Eric would also look into. I suppose I could see how this played out…

but I was right. Next time… I’d kill people…

and no one would stop me…. because this data point would prove my way to be correct.

Alexandria nudged me saying, “I like you, even if you are terrifying. Would it kill my husband to send that update on my brother in law?” Melanie said, “In my experience… men don’t think about things like that. I’m sure Lexi will text you though.”

No sooner had I said that then Alexandria’s phone buzzed with a text from Lexi, who offered a lot of details. Including the fact that Katie was the student who stumbled upon Keaton… like I’d guessed. Apparently, Katie said she felt like she had to be on that road.
