Never a Dull Moment #4

“Haley brings two of the strongest Supernatural groups into an alliance with Eric. Not to mention she’s a much better person than most. She’s pure of heart…

. and yours is black and ugly from the inside out…

you are rotten to the core. Luna Emmaline could confirm that…

or Aria.” Luna Emmaline agreed, “You are right.” I knew that. I punched Lena right in the face.

Freya snarled, “Take her canines. Her wolf is obstinate and they both need to be taught a lesson. No one talks about mate or his family the way they did. Let’s send a message.” Dang. Someone on my level… plus… I mean…. the Hackura were totally killing Lena now.

I really liked the way my wolf thought though. I easily pinned the woman and ripped Luna Lena’s canines out. The pathetic woman actually looked at me with horror. Freya surfaced and snarled at her. Then I put her daughters on the ground when they came up behind me.

I complained, “That… was truly pathetic. One… because you came up behind me… like cowards…. and still didn’t land a hit. Get yourself some training. You guys could be good Warriors. Don’t let your dad’s backwards way of thinking hold you back anymore.”

“Always remember… it’s your life. So, start living it. Ask to travel…. and for all our sake’s, go to a pack that will actually train you. Maybe you’ll even… I don’t know…. find your mates. Stop living in the shadow of what two greedy people… who happen to be your parents, want for your life.”

“It’s well past time for you both to grow up.

Just because your parents are hateful and spiteful…

. doesn’t mean you have to be too. They made bad choices…

and it’s best you see that. This is where you’re heading…

bitter… probably dead on your mom’s part…

and searching for a woman he wouldn’t claim as his… on your dad’s.”

Both women looked stunned but seemed to consider my words.

They had a chance. Hopefully, they took it.

One said, “You literally told the room he wasn’t my dad.

” I disagreed, “I said he wasn’t your biological father, which you knew.

The man has known, the whole time, you’re not his daughter…

but he raised you. He’s your dad… That he raised and loved you…

as his own… is literally his only redeeming quality. ”

Alpha Sail came in. Instead of addressing me he addressed Xander.

Freya chuckled, “You smelled our mate.” I did but it irritated me when I knew it shouldn’t.

I knew that Alpha Sail would appeal to my mate…

because said Alpha didn’t think he should have to address any woman.

I pointed out his daughters shouldn’t be here.

Freya agreed, “That’s true. They are not mated to Alpha’s, nor are they Luna’s.” Yes… well, Alpha Sail was sexist about who should be here. Seriously. Alpha’s Mates were allowed here. That was in the bylaws.

My eyes flickered to Trenton. I linked him, “Do you care if I goad your dad into a challenge?” Trenton laughed, “Please do.” I like how he didn’t even comment on how I could link him. Trenton was a good person who came to several workshops I did.

Getting Alpha Sail to fight was much easier than it should’ve been. That was the problem with Alphas who didn’t know how to be Alphas. They were easy to manipulate into fights. I really hoped Trenton took over the pack soon.

Trenton, and his future pack leadership were all ready to take over. Alpha Sail bemoaned about one small hit. I swear this family was ridiculous. Tristan linked me, “Tell me you aren’t about to fight an Alpha.”

I replied, “Well, that would be lying and I’m bad at that so…

I don’t think that’s a good day.” Tristan growled, “For god’s sake, Ladybug.

Fuck! Alpha Sail has a weak left side. Use it.

” I admitted, “I knew that… but thanks.” Tristan snorted, “Just like you know all the dirt on every Alpha family here.”

I reasoned, “Well… one needs to know… the shady things people do… for reasons. Like blackmail… I try to get people to do the right thing… and I’ve asked nicely…

but typically people respond to blackmail…

they get mad too… like I didn’t ask nicely…

in the first place.” My brother snorted out a laugh.

I needed a fighting outfit which Xander thankfully snapped for me. My husband had rules for my fight. I’d never had rules for my fights. This was definitely new. I linked Freya, “Xander doesn’t want Alpha Sail to land a hit. As in a single one?”

Freya confirmed, “That’s what mate said.” I argued, “That’s absurd! Letting someone land a hit is…. a fighting tactic… to observe your opponent and their moves. It makes the fight end faster… that has to be the goal… right?” Freya agreed, “Definitely.”

Elise linked, “I’m pretty sure Alexander is dead serious about not taking a hit, Ladybug. Sierra seems to think you’ll do it anyway.” I argued, “Ok, so here’s the thing… that's a ridiculous stance to take. You know sometimes…. you let them land a hit to see what you are dealing with.”

Elise told me, “I don’t disagree; I just don't know that Alexander can deal with you getting hit again.” I mean one time wasn’t that big of a deal. Freya snickered, “Definitely not. It’s even in some of his videos he offers as advice based on your memory.” Exactly!

Alpha Sail was heavy on his feet. I watched him come at me and blocked all his shots. I saw my way to end the fight though. I’d take like…. half a hit. Surely that wouldn’t count. Freya concurred, “You should take the hit. You’re right, it’s how to end the fight. When you’re right, you’re right.”

I replied, “You seem really excited about that.” Freya snickered, “I like fighting.” She did… plus, my wolf also liked winning. Freya said, “Because I don’t lose, and neither do you. Off you go now. End the fight.” My wolf was still feeling very victorious about something, and it wasn’t the fight.

I pinned Alpha Sail after a very lackluster hit on his part. I told him, “Hate breeds hate. Just because people are different from you doesn’t make them bad…. or less than you. You should remember that. You chose to be hateful and bitter.”

“Heck… you could’ve been happy, but you couldn't get out of your own way. You cared more about your fated mate’s rank…. than both your happiness. Now she’s finally out of your shadow and she’s happy… even when your mate goes missing… you won’t get her back.”

“Your chosen disrespected the Hackura’s Princess… plus the Fairies would be upset about the display she showed. You made both your fated and chosen mates…. miserable… for nothing. Trenton is a good person though, so there’s that.”

“Your son…. will change your pack for the better and give your name a legacy… well worth having. Trenton can turn your pack into what you could’ve… but you let prejudice get in the way.” I let him up. Alpha Sail looked really sad then he left the room as if he were on fire.

Freya said, “Our mother in law is wrong, what you did was necessary.” I knew that and I let everyone else know that it was. They were on notice. I was here now…. and I wasn’t here for their bull crap. The room erupted in cheers after my impromptu speech.

Seriously…. this was a room of grown adults. They needed to get it together. People… tended to complain to their friends… that was normal. Brazenly talking about other Lunas…. and calling them unworthy, in a large group, was unbecoming and crazy.

Freya snorted, “Your tables tell you Blade will be closer to these events now.” It did. Probably Haley’s full Guard would be here now, listening. Two would never fade in unless someone was disrespectful. They also told me Lena… was dead.

It was decided I was going to the Alpha meetings.

I linked Olivia, “I really wanted all of us to get drinks by the pool.” Olivia snickered and answered, “Well, there’s always tomorrow.

” I linked Valentina, “Take Olivia out to the pool…. and get drinks. I don’t want her around these catty women without all of us.

She’s probably had enough…. for one day anyway. ”

Valentina teased, “Oh, darn. I have to go sit by the pool and drink. You ask such hard things of me, Mel. Such hard things.” I stuck my tongue out at her as she led Olivia out of the room.

Olivia linked, “It seems I’m getting that drink.

” I encouraged her, “Have fun!” If anyone was to mean to her…

I’d kill them. Freya snickered out a laugh.

Maverick linked me, “Thank you. I know you got my mate out of here and somewhere they can just hang out, without the obligation of talking to someone.” I replied, “Yes… I mean… you’re welcome. Olivia’s doing a lot better now that she’s with you. I just…. don’t want to overwhelm her too much.”

Maverick answered, “Neither do I.” I smiled at him. He warned me, “Alexander isn’t going to be happy you let Alpha Sail hit you.” I replied, “It was a… practically a hit a pup would throw… when you think about it. I barely felt it.” Maverick chuckled, “My brother won’t care.” He should.

Dad linked me, “You are still very impressive to watch in a fight, Ladybug. I’m proud of you.” I blushed and replied, “Thanks, dad.” Peter linked, “That was damn impressive, Ladybug.” I squeaked, “What? You? You’re…. you sound proud… are you proud? No… don’t answer.”

Peter replied, “I am proud.” Now, I was going to cry. My goal of making him proud…. Which was apparently crazy since he was the whole time… felt like I’d realized it… and I was going to tear up. I saw the Red Run group filter out of the room, and the rest of our group went to the Alpha meeting.

Several people had tagged along. Why did everyone think I was going to make this more interesting? Freya linked, “Because we tend to make everything more interesting.” I commented, “You still seem really jazzed about something.”
