The Enforcers #6

Mom was in pain in our bond. She whispered, “This is my fault.” Melanie felt horror. My mate gasped, “What? No….. No it’s not. I did not say that… everyone heard… that I did not say that… right?” I assured her, “We know that.”

Grandpa Titus said, “Princess, this wasn’t your fault.” Mom argued, “They came for Arion because of me and who I am in the fucking prophecy.” Melanie quickly questioned, “Do you blame Cassie for them coming for Alexander?”

Mom answered, “Of course not, but …” Melanie cut her off, “Then by your own logic…. this is not your fault. If you want to get technical, I think Alania would be the most to blame. In the realm… of no… well all realms.”

Uncle Bjourn encouraged my wife, “I like that thought, do continue with why it’s Alania’s fault.” Melanie explained, “Alania knew Aiden, Arion, and Haley were the promised siblings. She could’ve prevented Arion’s death by letting him bond…. with Haley… when she was a child.”

Melanie rambled, “Obviously, they could’ve had the dynamic that… EJ, Alexander, and Cassie do. It’s not the same for them…. since they aren’t the promised siblings; however, there are elements… that are the same for them.”

“Alania had to tell someone that it was you guys… or someone told her… but it tracks that either way that went down… she told the wrong person. Until then… Arion would’ve been fine. Your life would’ve been hard… because the O’Toole’s poisoned everyone against partial Fairies.”

Melanie waved, “Ultimately…. Alania caused this though. You guys could’ve been protected. You should’ve been put together… instead of separated. Arion literally wouldn’t have been able to help himself from bonding with Haley over something if you’d spent more time together.”

“Someone needs to get Alania to tell us who she told that you guys were the promised siblings. She seemed to be under the impression…. that Haley could discover you were the promised siblings so your powers could activate.”

“Then the crazy sight seeing Fairy…. seemed to think Haley would keep it to herself and no one would know. The ironic thing is she told someone… which put you all in danger. So, Alania isolated you guys from each other for… well…. no reason.”

“I’d bet someone told her this was the best way though.

Which, for a Fairy, I can’t believe she fell for…

I mean, she couldn’t have asked who it would be best for?

Alania obviously inferred to herself it was best for you guys…

or her…. When… in reality, it was best for the person she confided in and the Ring. ”

Everyone was silent, absorbing this information. I told Cassie, “I’ll repeat, the Ring won’t hurt you by hurting me. I won’t let them.” My wife’s feelings in the bond agreed with that emphatically, along with anyone who wanted to hurt me was dead at her hands. Oh god. Oden snorted.

Uncle Aiden said, “So, for my nephews and nieces the next group so to speak was Haley’s first set of triplets; however, it doesn’t have to be triplets that carry the traits we have, but we are stronger than them. We will have to watch my great nephews and nieces to discover who is who.”

Melanie said, “Yes, then there’s the layer of protection for those pups. Which is the fact that the Enforcer, and his mate, can give birth to more…. Enforcers, to protect the family and make them more insulated.”

“The Ring and the O’Toole’s… wanted Arion to die before he had children. They are attacking Megan because part of Arion’s strength in the Beyond… is coming from her. Your brother is…. Well, he’s becoming a god, but Megan’s… a very powerful Witch.”

“The mate of the Enforcer is powerful in some way. I’m the White Wolf… but I think they thought I was just good at fighting. Megan is one of the strongest Witches around. I bet if Lila trained with weapons, she’d be quick to pick it up and quite skilled.”

“They don’t want Xander and me to have pups… because the Enforcer that could turn Cassie and Cayden’s daughter evil will be in their family… but Xander and I can have more than one pup who are Enforcers.”

“The Ring wouldn’t be able to turn anyone in our family line evil… but with more lines of defense for the Truth Seeker… and the family in general…. It means that they have to work harder…. and clearly working hard is not their thing.”

Melanie didn’t seem to know Megan and Arion had a son from the Faerie orphanage. Megan had wanted it kept quiet, but she’d raised him. I’d bet Jarrod was also an Enforcer. Oden told me, “Freya said mate does know about him.” Interesting.

Mom said, “That doesn’t explain why they would still be attacking Megan.” Melanie blushed. I thumbed through the pages and found the highlighted passage that explained. I actually gasped, “You have got to be kidding me.”

Melanie said, “I mean… that’s what the book says and…” I kissed her. Uncle Aiden questioned in a strained tone, “Care to share what you’ve both now found? I don’t see it in my printed and highlighted information,” It was on the last page I had.

Melanie squeaked, “So… through a series…. of events…. Arion is powerful enough to take physical form for… well once he practices, at least an hour… probably… well in this realm. Faerie… would likely be longer… but like, it doesn’t go into detail… and those are my possible projections.”

Uncle Bjourn concluded, “So Arion and Megan can still have more children. That’s why Megan has never run across a second chance mate.

Because she can still have children with Arion.

” Melanie hummed, “I think if Megan takes back her rejection… maybe even if she doesn’t…

they… well yes… they can still have more pups…

if they want to.” Aiden started laughing.

Melanie muttered, “I don’t know why he’s laughing. Considering… your uncle is the one who is going to have to tell Arion about the whole taking physical form thing.” Mom snorted, “No one will have to tell Arion a damn thing because he is here. We can sense him.”

Suddenly Uncle Arion appeared before us.

Melanie screamed and jumped in surprise.

Elise asked, “Is that…?” Uncle Arion smiled greeting, “Hello, everyone.” Then flickered out.

Melanie said, “So I guess he found the page that explained how… he can take form. It’s in my office.

I was going to give it to Haley and Aiden to get to him…

but he must have found it after listening to us talk. ”

Uncle Aiden agreed, “It’s a safe bet my brother used a charm to find the piece of paper he needed and read it.

” Mom whispered, “Arion can really come and take physical form? He can be with us?” Melanie answered, “For an hour at most… in this realm… and he’ll have to practice.

Once Arion does though, he could appear once a day…

and my projections say longer in Faerie. ”

Mom burst into tears and dad started rubbing her back.

Uncle Aiden hugged her. Mom wiped her tears saying, “I should call Megan before Arion appears and scares the shit out of her.” Melanie told her, “Umm… Arion won’t be able to appear again until…

tomorrow… well here… which… Megan’s not in Faerie…

. which I totally don’t know…. For a fact… or anything.” Oden snickered.

Mom smiled then whispered, “This means Arion can come to Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, and even birthday parties.” Aiden snorted, “Our brother can also have a child, should he and Megan wish.” Grandpa was studying my mom.

Mom ran over and hugged Melanie tightly and whispered, “Thank you.” She ran out of the room to call Megan with dad right behind her. Mom’s feelings of guilt I’d never known she carried, had lifted all because of my mate.

Grandpa Titus announced, “I’d like to speak to Melanie. Alone.” Melanie actually gulped. I kissed her on the forehead and linked, “My Grandpa would never hurt you.” My wife replied, “I know… but he might not have wanted all that information shared.”

I looked at grandpa before telling Melanie, “I think he wants to thank you. My mother has carried the burden of killing my uncle for twenty plus years. Now, she feels much better about it.” I squeezed my mate’s hand as we all left the room.

Cassie jumped on me and burst into tears. I held her tightly before saying, “Cass, none of us will let anything happen to your pups.” Cassie whispered, “What about you?” I snorted, “I’ve got my Guard, my big brother, you, our siblings, our family, and an incredibly determined to keep me safe mate.”

I paused then added, “Not to mention, I am not easy to kill. Literally by a prophecy definition. I’m an Enforcer.

I’m a fierce fighter, little sister.” Cayden warned, “Melanie will have a plan, Alexander.” I admitted, “I know she does. It’s likely to use herself as bait.

” Cayden replied, “I’d put money on that. ”

I turned to Uncle Bjourn. I asked, “Did Hastein reiterate to Kingsley Melanie wanted to talk to her?” Uncle Bjourn answered, “He did. She got time off at work unexpectedly, Hastein wanted her to tour our realm.”

I shrugged, “Melanie said it’s not unusual for Kingsley to not check in.

My wife just seems to have something important to tell her.

” Uncle Bjourn said, “I’m sure they will get to it.

Hopefully, it’s nothing as dramatic as your Fairy uncle being able to take form to get his rocks off.

” Elise gasped and Cassie started laughing.

I said, “I think my mom has plans for holidays and birthdays along with the sex my Uncle Arion can have now.” Uncle Bjourn commented, “If I was Arion, and thank Aesir I am not, my first hour long attempt at staying in physical form would be with my mate.”

I inclined my head, “Of course it would.” EJ said, “That would be what we all did.” Elise slapped his chest gasping, “Don’t you dare talk about dying.” She promptly burst into tears. I linked my big brother, “Why would you say that near your pregnant, hormonal mate?”
