Chapter Nineteen

Wraith

My stomach is angry at me and I feel like it will consume literally anything including foods I don’t like such as Macaroons.

I despise those little shits, but my stomach would be grateful for it if fed one.

After waking up at dawn when the suns rays starts to poke through and decorate the night sky Grey Eyes and I went back into the cabin to sleep on the couch.

Not long after I had just a single breakfast bar which I wasn’t too fawn of, but I ate it, nonetheless.

We haven’t been to the cabin in quite some time so the kitchen was never restocked and I think it’s safe to say the entire gang is starving.

Which is why we’re currently at the grocery store.

People look at us funny and with scared expressions on their face, some of them can’t seem to take their eyes off me which I don’t really mind.

They do, however, cross a line when their stares linger on Grey Eyes for a second too long.

I’ve had the urge to grab him by the throat and claim those lips in front of everyone, letting them know that they’d be crossing a boundary if they so much as make a move toward him.

We’re really at the grocery store for two reasons though, one to get some much-needed food and two Dad told me and Frani that we were meeting with a guy he hired who is supposedly good with the dark web and finding people who don’t want to be found.

The dark angel in me grinned and fluttered his wings at the thought of me finally getting my hands on that bastard Jamie, especially now that he’d blown up my motorcycle.

The anticipation has yet to leave my body and I don’t think it will any time soon.

It’s like I can feel it humming and buzzing through my veins.

I grab a loaf of bread and throw it into the basket.

“We may need another basket.” Grey Eyes chuckles.

I look at the basket and smile. It’s filled to the brim, but we’re feeding a gang, not a little prissy family that lives in a luxury penthouse or mansion and goes to a Country Club every Saturday like a miserable ritual, we need food.

“Do you see the people we’re shopping for?” I ask. “We’re big men along with Frani and Halah. Those girls can eat... especially when it’s their time of the month.”

All of a sudden I feel a pain in my gut as Frani places a box of caramel in the basket.

“Let me see how you can handle period cramps and just period pains in general.” She remarks. “Eating makes the pain go away... at least for me.”

“Did you really have to punch me?” I ask, rubbing my belly.

“I could do a lot worse but I don’t think you could handle it.” She says.

I flip her off before continuing to push the cart. She just gives me a polite smile before blowing me an air kiss.

“Do you want anything else Grey Eyes?” I ask.

He looks at the cart and I use one hand to cover his eyes.

“Don’t think about the money or the space, we’ll figure it out, if you want it you best believe you got or I’ll die trying.” I state.

He smiles and pulls my hand away from his face before looking at me.

“No.” he responds. “I’m good.”

I look at my sister.

“And you sis?”

She too examines the cart as she shakes her head.

“No, I think I got everything I need.”

“Okay.”

We head to the register and we run into Brunelle, pushing her own cart of food. With her cart next to the one I’m pushing it makes me look like I’m a greedy motherfucker or I’m going to solve world hunger or some shit.

“That’s all you’re getting?” I ask.

She looks at her basket.

“Yeah.” She replies. “Also this is all I can afford right now.”

“Oh, did you want something else?” Frani asks.

“No I’m fine, this is just a temporary trip right?” Brunelle asks.

Frani nods after a while and my phone buzzes in my pocket. Pulling it out Grey Eyes takes the cart and pushes it to a line while I look at my phone. I got a text from Dad.

Dad: When you’re done drop off Harshal and his friend at the car and you and your sister come to the back of the store.

“Did dad text you too?” Frani asks as she pockets her phone.

I nod.

“I’m thinking the guy is here.” She says.

“Same here.”

After checking out we do what Dad instructs us to do, leaving Grey Eyes and Brunelle in the car with access to weapons if a situation calls for it.

Frani and I even have guns and a knife strapped to our hips as we make our way to the back of the store.

In an alley with cameras that are outdated and don’t work we spot a grey colored car and the gang huddled up, talking amongst themselves.

Dad spots us and his face brightens up as he raises his hand to beckon us.

We weave our way through the gang and stand on either side of Dad.

“Julian this is my daughter, Neon.” Dad gestures to her before gesturing to me. “And this is my son Wrath.”

“Nice to meet you.” He says, shaking each of our hands.

“Likewise.” Neon says with a smile.

I just grunt in response.

“Guys this is Julian, he’s going to help us locate Jamie.” Dad said.

“How’d you guys meet?” I ask, crossing my arms over my chest.

“At the fire actually.” Dad says.

“I don’t remember seeing you there.” I state.

“Uh that’s because you were busy knocking out a policeman.” Neon smirks.

I resist the urge to flip her off and instead ask,

“Did you see him at the fire?”

“Uh, no, I was too busy trying to make sure you didn’t get jumped while also watching your precious boy.”

Julian’s eyes ping-pongs between my sister and I before he smiles.

“I was driving by, saw the fire, and called the fire department.” He says.

“How nice of you.” Neon said.

“I hear you’re good with tech.” I said. “The dark web.”

He nods.

“The guy is good.” Aziz says, lighting a cigarette.

“Hm.” I hum. “You’ve seen him in action?”

“Yes, actually you guys were in the store shopping when he was showing what he can do.” Aziz says before blowing out a puff of smoke.

Aziz isn’t really a smoker, it’s rare to find him smoking and honestly I can say that about the whole gang, but when one of us is smoking I’d advise one to tread lightly because we just may be on the edge and one wouldn’t want to see us as/if we fall off said edge.

“Cool.” I say. “So when can we get to work?”

Julian and a few of the other guys laugh.

“I like him, no sweet talk, straight to the point.” Julian says, pointing at me.

“More like a pain in the ass.” Neon rolls her eyes before whispering with a smirk, “Sometimes.”

This time I flip her off and she slaps my hand away from her.

“Uh, I can meet up with you guys tomorrow, just let me get prepared mentally and physically and I’ll be on this fuckers ass like white on rice lickety-split.” Julian said.

Dad looks around at the group asking us if we are ready with just a lift of his eyebrow.

“Sounds good Prez.” Ghostin says.

“I’m on board.” Chill Pepper nods. “This asshat needs to die just like his damn father.”

“This will be my third time finding a mafia boss and let me tell you when they go into hiding it’s no joke trying to find them, it’s like trying to pry yourself from the traps of a hungry gator so it may take some time.” Julian informs us.

Dad sticks his hand out for Julian to shake.

“You’ve got a deal.” Dad said when Julian takes his hand.

They shake and Dad reaches into his pocket to pull out a hefty wad of cash. He hands it to Julian.

“I don’t need to remind you what’ll happen to your ass if you betray us, do I?” Dad growls, his voice eerily calm yet threatening.

“No Prez, I do not need to be reminded.” Julain responds. “I’m well aware of the consequences.”

“Good.” Dad smiles.

“Fuck yeah!” Aziz hoots.

Fuck yeah indeed. It’s time we finally end this petty shit this fucking family seems to love having with us.

They made a mistake causing a war with us because there is no tie in war.

In the end one of us has to come out on top and let me just say, Jamie will have to kill me and trap my soul somewhere sacred to keep me from haunting him till the day I can get my hands on him again if he’s the one to come on top.

“And he cooks.” A voice I know so well by now says from behind me.

Turning away from the stove I see Grey Eyes leaning against the door frame of the kitchen. I smile.

“I may not know how to make eggs but my dishes for dinner are out of this world.” I comment.

“Is it?” he asks walking to the counter.

He sticks his finger in the spicy sauce for the Tteobokki dish I’m making.

I smack his hand away and he giggles before lifting his sauced covered finger to his mouth, licking it clean.

My eyes follow his tongue and my dick stirs in my pants.

He then pulls his pretty plush bottom lip between his teeth and fuck I want to be the one to bite that lip.

“What are you making exactly because that sauce assaulted my tongue with its spiciness.” He says, bringing me back to the present, away from my dirty thoughts.

“It’s a Korean dish I taught myself to make when I was in high school.” I state.

“You’re Korean right?” he asks.

I give a simple nod before going back to cooking.

“So were you born here in America or in Korea or somewhere else and you’re just a Korean descent?” he asks.

I look at him with a smirk on my lips.

“You trying to get know me Grey Eyes?” I ask.

He shrugs. “Well I can’t seem to shake you off so might as well get know my admirer.”

“Oh, I’m an admirer now?” I chuckle.

“I think you might obsessed with me.” he jokes.

I wipe the smile from my face and act like I’m a deer caught in headlights.

“What’s wrong with that?” I ask.

“D—I—Not—just answer my question please.” He says.

“Did I render you speechless?” I ask, walking away from the stove.

I back him up against the kitchen island and pick him up to sit him on it. My fingers gently nudge his knees apart and I step between them. His arms come up to wrap around my neck.

“Don’t flatter yourself.” He whispers.
