Chapter Nineteen #2
The tip of his nose brushes against mine and I can no longer resist the urge to kiss him.
My lips meet his and he kisses me back almost immediately.
Our tongues tangle and teeth knock against one another’s.
He moans into my mouth and I swallow it like it’s my next breath, cherishing it like a treasure deep inside me.
Reaching for the sauce he dipped his finger in I grab the spoon and use it to cover his lips.
My stomach growls at the smell of the sauce—I haven’t had anything to eat all day but that breakfast bar—my tongue licks the sauce and it’s like his taste takes away the spiciness and replaces it with his sweetness.
I throw the spoon in the sink while still tangling myself in this beautiful person before me and it quickly becomes heated.
The next thing I know is I’m nipping at the hem of his shirt as my teeth bury themselves in his angel soft bottom lip.
He moans again and I grunt, trying to keep myself at bay.
“Shit!” someone curses.
Breaking away from Grey Eyes I see Aziz quickly turning away to exit the kitchen.
“Aziz!” I call for him.
“I didn’t know you and your friend were getting in the mood.” He says.
I can tell Grey Eyes is embarrassed and I hug him to relieve him before gripping his hips and helping him down.
“I’m sorry.” He whispers.
“I’m not.”
I then kiss the tip of his nose before I go after Aziz.
“Unc!” I call after him.
He’s now at the front door. Turning around he looks at me.
“Did you need something?” I ask.
“Yeah, food, I’m fucking starving but I can wait until you and your friend finish making out.” He says.
“Oh, well, dinner is almost finished.” I state. “Can you wait until then?”
“Of course, I’m going to get a little snack in the meantime.” He says.
He turns to Halah who is lounging on the porch and asks,
“You want a snack?”
“Hell yeah.” She replies. “The smell of whatever he’s making has made my stomach rumble angrily.”
Aziz turns again and heads back to the kitchen with me in tow.
Grey Eyes has left the kitchen and Aziz retrieves his preferred snack as I wash my hands and get sanitary again before finishing up the Tteobokki, which doesn’t take long.
About thirty minutes later the kitchen is full of people as we shuffle around the floorplan getting our plates ready so we can go sit down and eat.
“Aziz and I started a campfire outside if anyone wants to join us.” Halah announces.
“Why the fuck did you start a campfire in the middle of summer?” Fritzi asks.
“Hey nitwit, we’re no longer in the middle of summer, tomorrow is the first day of fall which means we need to start planning for our Halloween party.” Frani states.
I think about what my sister just said and frown as the realization dawns on me. Fuck! Where the fuck have I been? It seems as though school just started. A lot has happened since the party we hosted before the first day of school. Time flies when your occupied I guess.
“Fuck yeah! What’s the theme going to be?” Fritzi cheers, grabbing a beer from the fridge while balancing his plate in one hand.
“Fuck the themes, Halloween is supposed to be fun, let’s let people be creative with it.” Frani responds, exiting the kitchen.
“Even cooler.” Fritzi nods. “I think I know what I’m going to be.”
He follows Frani out the kitchen and outside. I smile and shake my head as their voices travel through the house.
“You guys throw a big Halloween party?” Brunelle asks.
“Did you not just see how my cousin reacted at the mention of the party?” I ask.
Grabbing a knife I place it a few inches away from my neck and mimic me slicing my neck as I say,
“Our Halloween parties are killer.”
Grey Eyes swallows as he moves away from me and the memory of him watching us skin that one guy alive at the last party we had pops into mind. Stepping closer to him I whisper in his ear,
“We’ll try not to kill anyone this time. But if it calls for it, we will, just a fair warning.”
“I’ve been around you enough to know that.” He says. “But it’s still something I need to get used to.”
I nod in understanding. He then turns to exit the kitchen with his plate.
Soon everyone is outside by the campfire eating the dinner I made. Dad has been on his phone for the most part as everyone enjoys one another’s company. He was the first person to finish his food I noticed and has been quiet. Standing up I walk over to him and snatch his phone.
“The fuck?!” he exclaims.
“How’d you like the food?” I ask.
“It was good, now give me my phone!”
“You’ve been on it the entire time.” I state.
“That’s because—”
His phone buzzes in my hand and I look at the screen. It says that a package has been delivered.
“What did you order?” I ask.
“Well if you must know.” He grumbles. “I used the money we retrieved from Vegas to buy the ones who lost their bikes because of Jamie new ones.”
“You got me a new bike?” I ask.
“If you give me my phone I can show it to you.” He says.
Giving him his phone he maneuvers through it and shows me my brand-new bike.
Now I know how first-time fathers feel when their baby is born because this ride is beautiful!
He’s my favorite color, grey, with a dark angel ready for battle on it.
The sword he wields is badass if I do say so myself and it’s just perfect.
It even came with a matching grey helmet I can customize if I’d like. I whistle, impressed.
“He’s a beauty.” I say.
Dad smiles.
“I knew you’d like it.”
“It’s the perfect shade of grey.”
Dad chuckles. “They’re at the house if you want—”
“Oh, I’m taking him out for a ride tonight and you know it.” I state.
Dad shakes his head as he chuckles. “Boy what would I do without you?”
“Live a bland life.” I joke.
That makes him laugh and I smile before hugging him. He’s the best father the little boy in me could have ever wanted. Sometimes I wish he was my biological father, maybe my brother would still be alive if he was.
“Oh shit, he’s a hugger tonight.” Justin comments.
The gang quiets and shifts their attention to us. Fritzi’s jaw hangs open and a moth flies into his mouth. He chokes and scrambles up, trying to get the creature out of his mouth. I laugh. Serves the asshole right. He continues to cough as he makes his way inside the cabin.
“Is he okay?” Brunelle asks.
“He’s Fritzi, Flit, he’ll make it to see tomorrow.” Halah reassures her.
“I know my son and I know that he’s a tough boy, he will most defiantly be here tomorrow, asking for avocado toast in the morning.” Aziz comments, leaning back in his chair.
He grabs his beer bottle and tips it back, taking a long sip before staring off into the fire.
“Alrighty then.” Brunelle says, standing up and heading back inside the cabin.
“I have an announcement.” Dad’s voice booms as he stands.
Everyone’s attention flies to him, Fritzi coming back out to join us.
“Those of you who lost their motorcycle in a fire, Wraith, Aziz, Fritzi and Halah.” Dad looks at each of us.
“I’ve ordered you guys a new bike using what was supposed to be Jamies money, they’re at the house if you’d like to retrieve them when we return or whenever.
But just know you have to be careful if you go get it now.
.. at least until we figure out a plan to put Jamie down for good. ”
The gang nods as they take in what Dad said.
“Am I understood?”
“Yes Prez.” We all say unison.
“Good, now we may carry on with our evening slash night.” He says, sitting back down.
I can’t wait to try out my new ride... with Grey Eyes on the back.
***
It’s three fifty-eight in the morning and everyone is asleep except me.
Grey Eyes is sleep beside me and it comforts me to see his chest rise and fall peacefully, under me and my families protection.
I feel bad that I dragged him into this.
If I would have controlled myself and not looked his way, not involve myself with him, he could be on campus right now, going to work without a care in the world.
But no, I had to get involved with him and now look at us.
Turning over on my side I stare at his peaceful face as he rests.
Placing my head so my ear rests just above his heart in his chest I listen to the beat of his heart.
The dark angel in me flutters his wings with each beat and I soon realize that his heart beats exact seventy beats per minute in his sleep.
I smile while listening to his heartbeat, my head rising and falling with his chest. But my smile doesn’t last long.
As each second ticks by his heartbeat starts to pick up speed along with his breathing.
Muffled whimpers begin to spill from his lips as his body begins to jerk. My head turns to look at his face.
“No!” he mumbles.
It was almost incoherent but I was able to catch on. His breathing becomes heavy and I raise up. Beads of sweat begin to form on his forehead, right below his dreadlock cap. He’s having a bad dream so I begin to shake him.
“Grey Eyes!” I say while shaking his body. “Pretty boy!”
He continues to jerk and sweat in his unconscious state.
“Harshal!” I call. “Harshal!”
After a few more seconds of violently shaking him my eyes clash with his beautiful grey eyed gaze.
“Hey, hi.” I whisper.
By looking at him I can tell he’s still trying to decipher where he is. His eyes go in and out of focus before he rubs them. Sitting up he takes a deep breath, a breath that almost sounds relieved.
“You’re okay.” I say. “You had a bad dream.”
He looks at me with his head cocked to the side.
“What are you still doing up?” he asks before his facial expression turns to worry. “I didn’t wake you did I? What time is it?”
I tap my phone screen.
“Four-o-eight.” I respond. “And you didn’t wake me, I just couldn’t sleep.”
His hand goes underneath my shirt and he rubs the bare skin of my back. My nerve endings go haywire at his touch and I groan in satisfaction. How can a persons touch be so comforting?
“I’m sorry.”
“Don’t be, it’s nothing for you to worry about.” I state. “Do you want some tea, milk, or something?”
“No.” he responds. “...But I do need to use the restroom.”
His touch leaves my back and I want to protest, just to keep any part him touching any part of me. As he climbs over me to get out of bed I grab his hand and use it to turn him. He looks at me.
“Want to go for a late-night slash early morning ride?” I ask.
He’s silent, contemplating his answer.
“We can go get snacks, star gaze like we did last night, or just simply ride around.” I add, trying to sweeten the deal.
He smiles.
“In the community car?” he asks.
I shake my head.
“No, let’s call a cab to take us to my house so we can pick up my new motorcycle and ride around.” I reply. “Test drive it.”
“But don’t we have to stay hidden, I mean the whole point we’re even at this cabin and I’m missing class and working hours is to be incognito.” He states.
I pretend to take offense. “You don’t think I can be incognito?”
He laughs but quickly stops and crosses his legs.
“Shut up, don’t make me laugh.” He smiles.
I smile and tug on his arm.
“Please, it may unwind me and when we come back I could probably fall asleep.” I comment.
Sighing he says,
“Fine, let me use the restroom and switch out of my pajamas first.” He says.
“Yay!” I smile and he rolls his eyes, making his way to the bathroom.
