Chapter Twenty-Seven
Harshal
It’s morning and last night we got a call from the doctors saying that Wraith has woken up.
I asked Frani to take me to see him but by the time we got to his room he had already passed out again.
Now I’m looking out the hospital window as I sip on my apple juice, the camera from my bedroom laying at his feet.
I hear a grunt and turn to see him sitting up in his hospital bed.
He looks around the room and spots me, his eyes look dead but the longer he looks at me the more I see life enter them.
“Hi.” He smiles.
“You stalking me now?” I ask.
He freezes.
“What?” he asks.
I gesture to the camera that sits beside his feet, I’m sure he recognizes it.
“You’ve been stalking me since the party you and your sister had at the club.” I say.
I recalled the time I went to go study and get my books for school, thinking I saw him but playing it off, thinking positive thoughts when it really was him.
“When were you going to tell me about this being in my room?” I ask.
He’s silent.
“Or were you planning not to?”
“I—look I know I may have crossed a line by watching your every move and I’m sorry.” He starts. “I just, when I first saw you I couldn’t get you off my mind and I thought if I kept an eye on you I’d grow bored of you... turns out it had the opposite effect.”
I listen to him, letting his words tumble about in my brain.
“And you couldn’t have asked me out like a normal person?” I ask.
He scoffs.
“I’m allergic to said thing.”
I chuckle before thanking the heavens that I didn’t lose him. I may have been mad and creeped out at first but after a few days of processing what Frani said and the whole situation I’ve finally learned to accept it. To see and learn how my Dark Angel loves all while loving him back.
“Allergic?” I laugh.
“Yeah, I get hives when the word is said in my proximity.” He jokes, shooing me away. “I should call security to send you away for threatening my life with such a barbaric word.”
“Okay, okay I get it.” I chuckle.
He laughs before the room falls silent again.
I walk over to him and before I could do what I intended to do he grabs my hips and pulls me on top of him.
My ass lines up with his penis which hardens with each passing second and he uses his grip on my hips to grind me on his pelvis, my ass sliding against his penis.
I bite my lip and lean down to kiss him.
He hums before kissing me back. I bite his lip and his dick jumps.
“Do that again I liked it.” He rasps.
I chuckle into his neck before nibbling on his flesh there.
I get to his patch where he was cut and I try to fight the tears threatening to invade my eyes.
I fail and a tear falls on the patch. Leaning down I plant a hot, passionate kiss right above the patch.
Wraith’s hand rubs my back up and down in soothing strokes.
“You do realize that you could never get rid of me no matter how hard you try right?” he asks.
I smile. I’m so gone for this man it’s ridiculous. The funny part is... I didn’t even realize it until he nearly died, talk about a wakeup call, huh?
“I don’t think you should be talking.” I say. “You need to rest your vocal chords.”
He hums as he continues to rub my back and eventually he puts me to sleep.

The next day comes and I felt like I fought for my life when taking my math midterm.
I passed it thank goodness, but it was traumatic.
The cells in my brain are burnt, I’m surprised my brain can still function well enough to walk.
.. to even think. I’m supposed to be meeting Frani and Fritzi at one of the parking lots on campus today so I’m surprise when I turn the corner and I see a streak of neon colored hair fly by me, her perfume wafting in the air furiously following after her.
I turn around to make sure it’s Frani and when my brain confirms it’s her I turn back around to face Fritzi. He doesn’t look too happy either.
“What’s her problem?” I ask.
“It’s fucking bullshit.” Fritzi grumbles.
“What is? What happened?” I ask.
I’m thinking it’s a joke but that thought immediately leaves my head when he explains what’s going on.
“My uncle has been arrested.” He says.
My heart drops and my eyes widen as I struggle to process what the fuck he just told me. Guilford is in jail? For what? How?
“For what?” I ask.
“Julian is dead as well.” He adds.
“What?”
Fritzi and I begin to walk to his bike since Frani is already on hers and has just left the parking lot.
“Yeah, here.” He hands me his helmet since mine was with Frani and well, she’s off into the sunset at the moment. “I’m thinking it’s a fucking set up.”
“Jamie.” I state.
“Abso-fucking-lutely.” Fritzi says getting on his bike.

When we get to the police station, Frani is sitting in the waiting room, her arms crossed, leg bouncing as she chews on her gum aggressively.
“How long have you been here?” Fritzi asks as I sit down next to her.
She doesn’t respond, she just continues to chew her gum. She blows a bubble an eyebrow arched before she abruptly stands up and walks to the back of the station where the cells are.
“Frani!” Fritzi yells after her.
“Hey, young lady!” an officer shouts, running after her.
“Fuck!” Fritzi says, going after them both, I follow.
“Get your fucking hands off of me lady!” Frani shouts when the officer grabs her arm.
“I told you to wait in the waiting room.” The officer says.
“And that’s exactly where I came from, the fucking waiting room, now take your hands off of me or you won’t have any and I cross my heart and hope to die with that promise!” Frani grits out, barring her teeth in rage.
“What’s going on her—” Chief Caleb says exiting his office and entering the hallway we’re in. “It’s okay, let her go I’ll take her to her father.”
The officer lets Frani go and walks off, back to the front I’m assuming. Chief Caleb looks at all three of us with sympathy in his eyes.
“You guys do know that he could go to prison for this right?” Chief Caleb asks.
“He didn’t do anything.” Frani bites back.
“Frani, the man’s body was found in a dumpster with your fathers ID not too far away.” Chief Caleb explains.
Guildford has been arrested for the murder of Julian... even though he didn’t do it.
“He’s innocent.” I mumble.
“We know he is.” Fritzi says. “But this asshat doesn’t want to believe it.”
Chief Caleb looks at Fritzi.
“Hey, look I’m just doing my job.” He says.
“Well do it better, because any real police officer knows that there is a such thing as getting fake ID’s, Identity Theft, and much more.” Fritzi explains, his words seeping through his lips like poisonous daggers. “Or did your degree in law not qualify you enough for that type of knowledge?”
Chief Caleb pierces his lips as he stares Fritzi in the eye.
“The ID looked pretty legit.” He says.
“Oh yeah? Let me see it then.”
Chief Caleb shakes his head. “I can’t that’s evidence.”
“Then evidently you don’t know how to do your damn job.” Fritzi huffs.
“Where’s my dad!” Frani nearly shouts through her somewhat controlled anger.
“Follow me.”
Chief Caleb directs us to the cell they have Guilford in and when we get there he’s sitting on the metal bed with his head hanging between his shoulders.
“Dad.” Frani says.
He lifts his head and smiles when he sees us.
“Hey baby girl.”
“Dad, I want him dead.” Frani says. “We have to strike him, we need to accumulate a plan, we need to get you out of here!”
“Hey, Frani.” Guildford says, standing up.
He walks to the bars and reaches a hand out to place it on her head. He grabs a lock of her hair and plays with it.
“Frani!” he sing-songs under his breath.
It’s then that I realize that Frani is crying.
“I-I lost my mother, nearly lost my brother, I can’t lose you too Dad.” She cries. “Please. I have to help you.”
“Does your brother know?” Guildford asks.
“I don’t know, he stayed at home to recover from his wound.” Frani cries.
After my nap with Wraith yesterday he was discharged after making sure he’s okay.
The doctors gave him his medical information, which included foods he should eat until his throat heals completely.
He decided to stay home from school today and rest, but I can only imagine him when he finds out about this news.
“Well, if he doesn’t he’s destined to find out.” Fritzi says.
“He’s not going to like it so, Frani, can I count on you to watch him?” Guilford asks.
Frani nods through her tears and Guilford grabs her and hugs her through the bars.
“I love you.” Guildford says.
“I love you more Dad.” Frani says. “Jamie is going to pay for this.”
“You bet your ass he will.” Fritzi agrees.
“Please don’t do anyth—”
“Dad, we need to do this, for you.” Frani interupts. “This family has been disrespectful to you for most of your life, it’s their time to go, but I will leave the fun parts to you.”
She winks at Guildford. I can see that he’s fighting reason with his own need of vengeance. Vengeance wins as he smiles dubiously at Frani.
“Promise me one thing, baby girl.” He says.
“Can’t say I’ll promise anything.” She shrugs.
“Promise me to be careful and watch over your brother and the gang, you two are in charge now.”
Frani salutes her father. “I promise.”
“And don’t do anything I wouldn’t do.”
“Okay Dad, know your limits.”
We all laugh at that.

I’m the chef tonight and I’ve decided to make fried chicken and chicken flavored rice for dinner.
When we got home from the police station I went to Wraith’s room to discover him sleep.
So, I pulled the covers over his body and came back downstairs to start on homework before I was asked by Frani to cook dinner.
I’m taking some chicken out the grease when Frani scares the living shit out of me.
“Smells delicious.” She says, sitting at the kitchen island.
“Oh my goodness.” I breathe.
She chuckles. “I’m sorry I didn’t mean to scare you.”
“Is he awake?” I ask.
