Chapter Twenty-Six #2
I did my best to keep the wound on Wraith’s neck clean and away from any possibility of it becoming an infection until Guildford and the others came.
Guildford had told me that I did a nice job attending the wound given the limited resources and our current condition.
I told Guildford about the call and everything that happened.
Julian took my phone and looked into it, revising the call through his immaculate hacking skills and listened in on the call.
After Guildford had all the information he needed he came up with a fake story to tell the hospital because he was sure that Wraith will need stiches.
So that’s where he currently is as I sit at his desk in his bedroom doing my homework.
.. or trying to at least. It’s been two days since the attack and I’ve forced myself to attend classes while trying not to break down thinking of my Dark Angel.
I never realized that I loved him until his body hit the ground, unconscious.
The first time we had sex in his shower I was just trying to beat him at his own game and it turned into something entirely different.
I thought I was in this game to win and I guess I did win something, just not what I thought I was going to win.
I had won him... throughout all the time we spent together, getting to know each other, when we slept under the stars at the cabin it was all just—I was falling in love with him without even realizing it.
But just like with everything you win while playing a game you can also lose it and I’m praying that I don’t lose my win in life, my Dark Angel.
I’m trying to read the next question on my math problem but it just goes in one way and comes out another, going straight through me, causing me to have to reread the problem.
Sighing I run my hand over my face and lean back in the chair.
It smells like Wraith, the masculine scent of one his colognes that has hints of Musk, Vetiver, and Cedarwood.
I scan the shelves above his desk set up and glance at all his fragrances.
I see a black helmet sitting behind his lineup of colognes and I stand up to grab it.
Looking at his bedroom door I contemplate putting it on before deciding to do it anyway.
I let out a satisfied hum as his scent invades my senses.
My foot gets stuck on one of the chair legs as I go to sit back down, causing me to lose my balance.
I catch myself by slamming a palm on his desk.
The vibration from my palm illuminates his computer screens.
They’re unlocked. Setting my foot free, I breathe deeply and sit back down in the seat carefully.
An app is open on of the computer screens and curiosity piques my interest. Grabbing a mouse I click on the app and different areas of the city pop up on the display.
I then remember him telling me he hacks into the city’s security cameras to watch me.
I click on the mouse again and my blood turns hotter than the earths core, my spine ramrod straight, and my throat becoming dryer than cotton balls.
I squint at the screen to see if I’m seeing what I’m seeing correctly.
Grabbing my phone without taking my eyes off the screen I call Brunelle.
It rings a couple of time before she answers.
I put her on speaker, flipping up the visor on the helmet.
“Hello?”
“Are you at the apartment?” I ask.
“Yeah why?”
“Can you go into my room please?”
“Why?”
“Just—please.”
“Harsh, I have a guest over right now and we’re in the middle of something.” Brunelle whispers into the phone.
“This is important.” I state.
I hear her sigh and rustling coming from the other side of the line.
“Give me a second.” She says.
A few seconds later I see her enter my room in just a man’s button up shirt.
Right clicking the mouse the video plays in color, left clicking it the video goes back to black and white.
Fuck me... he’s been stalking me in my room.
Has he watched me sleep? Has he jerked off while watching me get dressed?
“I’m in here, did you need something.”
“I know you’re in my room, I can see you in a man’s button up shirt.” I state.
She freezes, looking around my room.
“How do you know that?” she asks, almost breathily. “Are you here? Stop playing with me I know it’s Halloween time but we black and you know we don’t do this Halloween scare prank bullshit.”
“I’m in Wraith’s bedroom.” I state, leaning back in in my chair.
“What?” Brunelle asks. “Then how are you—”
“Look at the wall.”
She turns and faces a wall but her back is now to the camera.
“Turn around and look at the wall behind you.” I instruct.
She follows my guidance. Leaning forward I look at the screen to see if there is some type of camera control. I mess around with it for minute and the camera goes up and down. Brunelle screams.
“The fuck? Why is there a camera in your room?” she asks, getting closer to it.
“Take it off the wall.” I say.
“Okay.”
She struggles at first but then eventually she’s able to pull the camera down.
“It looks like it has a symbol on it.” Brunelle says.
“What kind of symbol?” I ask.
“A—it looks like the symbol of the motorcycle gang your friend is in.” she responds. “Is this his?”
“Can you meet me at Withems?” I ask.
“Uh, now?”
“Please, I’ll owe you.” I say. “I didn’t mean to cockblock you.”
“We can always have fun later on tonight.” Brunelle smiles into the camera.
She winks.
“Also, he was having a hard time getting it up anyway so, I think I owe you for saving me the embarrassment that is my hookup.” She adds.
I laugh.
“Meet you there in about thirty to forty minutes.” I say.
“See you soon.” Brunelle kisses the camera and we end the call.
***
I couldn’t leave the house without someone tagging along which is why I’m on the back of Frani’s motorcycle when we pull up at Withems Grill and Chill.
I take my helmet off and walk into the place with Frani in tow.
I see Brunelle sitting in the corner with the camera on the table as she stares out the window.
“Hey.” I say sitting next to her.
She turns to look at me and smiles.
“Hi.”
She looks at Frani and she grins.
“Oh my gosh, hey girl.”
Frani smiles and waves at Brunelle. “Hey.”
Frani points to the camera.
“What’s that?” she asks.
“Oh it’s, uh—”
“A camera your brother placed in my room.” I cut in.
I still haven’t processed that he has been stalking me all the way.
I’m a little mad but I don’t know why or when he placed it in my room.
It could have been anytime after we found out I was wanted by the Ezmereldain De’Verde or before I don’t know.
My feelings when it comes to this topic is just a ball of something. .. unknown. Indifference maybe?
Frani whistles lowly.
“Wow, I knew he was crazy about you, but I didn’t know he was obsessed with you.” She says.
“It’s weird.” Brunelle says. “Who watches someone through a camera like this?”
“Hey Brunelle, I love you, you know this, but step out of line when it comes to my brother and I will kill you.” Frani says.
“Sorry.” Brunelle apologizes.
“It may be a fucked-up way, but I can tell that he loves you, Harshal.” Frani says. “I mean you’ve got to give it to him, he lost his biological brother due to narcissistic parents, said parents used to beat him as a kid, and years later he managed to find the one meant to love him... you.”
“You don’t know that.” I shake my head.
Frani looks at me, grasping my chin using her pointer finger and thumb she forces me to look at her. Her facial expression serious.
“He may not be my blood, but I know him like he’s my blood and I fucking know that if anything happens to you right now he will exit that hospital building, injured, unconscious and all to avenge you.
If you decide to hide anywhere on this earth he will burn it down until he fucking finds you and there’s nothing me or my father can say or do that will fucking stop him.
” She states. “And honestly when he sets his sights on something he wishes for you best believe there is no stopping him, not that anyone would want to with just a single look at him, just saying.”
I smile as I let what she just said sink into my head. I can honestly picture my Dark Angel actually doing all that too.
“Love comes in many different shapes and forms, this is his... and it’s most likely just the beginning, now it’s up to you if you want to get off the ride or stay on just to experience his roller coaster of love.”
