Chapter Thirty-Eight
Wraith
When we make it outside we get to our bikes and hop on.
Prez says he wants to get Jamies attention so we have a better shot at trapping him.
I don’t know what it is but like always I trust him.
My Angel sits behind me with his arms wrapped around my middle and it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside.
It’s like my dark angel can finally rest now that I have my guy with me.
I take the device Easton gave us and place it on Grey Eyes’ wrist.
“I’m going to be driving so it’s best you handle that.” I state. “Besides, his ass is all yours now baby.”
I rev my bike before we all take off. We head down the long road on Easton’s property, directly toward Jamie. Prez makes sure to make a lot of noise with his bike and the rest of the gang follows suit. Prez pulls up a few hundred yards away from Jamie and flips his visor up.
He pulls out one of his guns and shoots the two guards closest to Jamie in the head. Their bodies immediately fall to the ground and Jamie looks around before noticing us.
Prez then pockets his weapon and takes off with us following him onto the Las Vegas Strip.
Like expected Jamie begins to follow us.
I smirk and weave my way through traffic.
The gang all spreads out on the strip which confuses Jamie and his crew of bodyguards.
I come to a red light and look behind me to see Jamie hanging out the window of his car, gun raised and pointed at my sister, who sits a few cars down from me.
“Neon!” I shout.
She turns her head to look at me but as she does so Jamiee shoots and hits her in the arm. Her blood splatters on the nearby cars just as the light turns green.
“Baby, shoot him.” I say, diverting my bike to my sister.
She holds her arm but when she sees me coming toward her with angry drivers cursing at me and honking their horns she shakes her head and zooms off before I could get to her. I feel Grey Eyes move behind me and I’m assuming he’s reaching behind us to shoot at Jamie.
“I can’t, we’re moving too much for me to get a clear shot!” he shouts.
“Shit!” I say. “That’s fine.”
Shots sound and car windows break as people scream, shout, and duck. Looking through my rearview mirror I see Jamie pointing his gun at Grey Eyes and me.
“Baby duck.” I instruct.
He plops his head flat on my back and I swerve through traffic. I’m so focused on watching Jamie through my mirror that I don’t recognize what’s going on in front of me until Grey Eyes shouts,
“Car!”
I look ahead and quickly hit the breaks. We come to a screeching halt before I quickly move again and divert lanes. Up ahead I see Prez, Az, and Chill Pepper pull up into a casino. I follow them. We drive to the back of the casino.
“Bring his car to the casino and power it down.” I tell Grey Eyes.
He nods and does some tapping on the device on his wrist. It makes a sound and I look at the screen to see the message that alerts us that the car is connected to the thing.
He does some more tapping on the screen for a few more seconds.
As he does so I see that he’s tapped into the cars system and I can see what the cameras on the car see and everything.
It doesn’t take long for him to complete the task.
“I believe it’s done.” He says.
“Is he here?” Prez asks.
“Yeah, around front.” I respond.
Prez shakes his head.
“Nah, bring him around back.”
“That’s going to be an issue.” Grey Eyes says.
We all look at him.
“Why?” I ask.
“Because he’s gotten out of the car and is heading inside the casino.” Grey Eyes replies.
He shows me the device on his wrist and I see that he is in fact entering the fucking casino.
“Now what?” I ask.
“Improvision.” Prez says. “Let’s go.”
We walk around the building and head inside. Flit of course gawks at how nice the casino is. He looks around at the expensive looking bars, appetizers, statues, and more. He looks at a group of young adults around the same age as us and hums to himself.
“And who is that fine piece right there?” he mutters under his breath.
I look at him then at the group and see he’s staring at one of the men. To be fair the guy is attractive. Big muscles, great style, perfect jawline, matching with a perfectly symmetrical face. But he doesn’t compare my guy.
“Eyes front dickhead.” I say.
Prez guides the gang to a bar. We look around but don’t see Jamie.
“Can I get you guys anything?” the bartender asks.
“Whiskey.” Prez orders.
AZ denies, Chill Pepper orders Tequila, I deny, along with Neon, and Flit. The bartender nods and goes to make the drinks that have been ordered.
“Where did he go?” I mutter.
“I don’t know so stay alert.” Prez instructs.
“It’s a mind game of his, I feel it in my bones.” AZ grunts. “Something his father used to do.”
We may be in a big casino but I damn sure we’ll find him and bring him to his fucking knees.
Flit on the other hand walks up to his father and leans over his shoulder, a wicked grin on his face.
“It’s nice to know you can still feel your bones old man.” Flit teases.
AZ turns and grabs his sons neck and puts him in a headlock. Flit struggles to free himself from his fathers hold.
“I’ve still got my strength as well boy.” AZ states.
“Clearly!” Flit says through a strained voice.
“Here are thos—”
The bartender is cut off when a bullet flies through one of the glasses he is holding in his hand.
The glass shatters and the liquid lands all over the man’s shoes.
People shout and begin to make a big commotion around the casino.
The security guard working on the bottom floor calls for backup with his own gun pulled out.
I look up on the second-floor balconies and see nothing.
“There!” Grey Eyes shouts.
He points to a section of the casino that looks like it leads to a theatre.
“Someone with a gun just went in there.” Grey Eyes informs us.
I grunt in response and immediately begin to walk in the direction of the black stage curtains.
I feel the rest of the gang on my heels as I do so.
I grab my gun from my waistband and grip it firmly as I enter a short curving hallway.
As soon as I enter the theatre all I see is a blur of something before that blur smacks me in the face.
My head reels to the side as pain radiates through my face.
Shaking my head to shake the pain off I turn back to see that Jamie has hit me in the face with the butt of a rifle.
“Ah, well it’s nice to know you can shoot.” I remark before raising my foot and kicking him in his inner thigh.
He yelps in pain as he stumbles back.
“You motherfucker!” he shouts.
Jamie goes to grip the rifle the correct way to shoot me, but I snatch it out of his hand before he could do anything. He limps backwards while holding his assaulted leg. Tossing the gun to Prez I stalk towards Jamie.
“If you want to fight you’re doing it the right way.” I say. “No guns, like a real fucking man.”
I toss my gun to Prez and continue to stalk Jamie. He laughs.
“Fight me?” he questions. “I had an expensive education. Which means my combat skills are the top of the line.”
“Fuck!” I hear someone say behind me.
Grunts and punches sound behind me which I’m assuming means the gang is fighting his guards. I shrug.
“You think so?” I ask.
He chuckles nervously.
“Uh, yeah!”
He hesitated. I smirk.
“Hey Angel!” I call.
Grey Eyes appears beside me in almost an instant.
“This isn’t my fight.” I state. I look at my baby. “It’s his.”
Leaning into Grey Eyes I kiss the shell of his ear.
“Avenge yourself my love.” I whisper in his ear.
