Chapter 10
She looks magnificent, absolutely stunning in that dress. It fits her body perfectly. The high heels add an extra touch of charm, making her breathtakingly beautiful. The little brat has simply blossomed into a gorgeous woman right before my eyes. I couldn't help but take in all that beauty!
A long black dress with sleeves and a deep sweetheart neckline that reveals an enchanting, delicate décolletage.
It flows gently, molding to the soft, perfect curves of her body, completed by a slit running from knee to upper thigh.
It leaves little to the imagination. Sensual without being vulgar—that's the perfect way to describe her tonight.
The perfect ensemble: stiletto pumps, hair pulled back with a few loose strands, and light makeup that enhances her natural beauty, making her even more irresistible!
I've always found her beautiful, but today...
wait, I must be going crazy, right? I've been standing here for several minutes, taking in every detail, when I realize what I'm doing.
I snap out of my reverie, flash my signature crooked smile, tuck her arm through mine, and we begin climbing the stairs.
“You look beautiful…”
“Thank you! The dress and shoes are absolutely perfect.”
The hostess greets us at the door. I give my name and she escorts us to a private room—my preferred spot for conducting business. My clients haven't arrived yet, so I order a glass of wine while Chloe orders juice. Apparently, she's not much of a drinker.
“You don't drink?” I decide to ask.
“No. I've never had alcohol, not even socially, actually.”
“Aren't you curious to try it?”
“I lost my mother to drinking, so I decided never to touch alcohol. Maybe someday I'll try it, but for now, I plan to keep it that way.”
“How long ago did your mother pass away?”
“Just a few months ago.”
“I'm sorry!”
“Thank you! Can we change the subject, plea—”
She barely finishes speaking when we hear a knock at the door. It opens and Victor enters, accompanied by two men who greet us. We sit down and decide to order dinner first, then wrap up the evening with the contracts.
“And who might this beautiful woman by your side be?”
“My secretary. Forgive me! I didn't introduce you properly. Chloe has only been with me for a few days, so I'm bringing her along to learn the ins and outs of the firm.”
“And are you enjoying the work, miss?”
“Yes. I'm studying business administration and recently started a finance course. Now, with this job opportunity, I couldn't be happier!”
“Even though Alex can be difficult to deal with, deep down he's a good man!!”
“Already badmouthing me to my secretary? I'm trying to be a good boss!”
“We only talk about work matters, so I have nothing to complain about.”
“You're smart! Keep it that way—don't give this guy an opening, or he'll have you in his bed in seconds.”
I see Chloe turn red, embarrassed by Victor's comment, but she responds:
“I see him and respect him as my boss, and I don't mix business with pleasure. Personal life and work never mix well.”
I smile at her response. She's shy and reserved, but she always has a quick comeback. I noticed this at the office when an employee tried to give her a rose.
“Don't bother my secretary, Victor! I can cancel our contract right here and now.”
“I'm shutting up already!!” He makes a zipping motion across his mouth. “No need to be so aggressive, you know.”
I catch the sarcasm in his tone. Victor knows my reputation well, and honestly, if she were an older woman, she'd already be in my sheets. But Chloe is different—she's still just a girl, and as beautiful as she is, I have no interest in sleeping with her. At least, not yet!
I prefer women who are more mature and experienced. I'll stick with that mindset, at least for now... I'm no expert who's going to teach her how it's done, not to mention she's way too shy. She's definitely not for me.
We finish our dinner and move on to the paperwork. Victor's two friends decided to close the deal in real estate, which was great news! It's a new venture and it's being very well received. I get their contact information to schedule a meeting and finalize the contract details.
Finally, we're done. The valet brings my car and I decide to take Chloe home. The route isn't unfamiliar to me—she explains that she lives in an apartment above the nightclub. After losing her mother, who worked there, the owner took her in!
After I drop her off safely at home, I continue on my way through the streets of London, now quiet at this hour. And once again, the little brat takes over my thoughts—something that's become routine lately. I need to stop thinking about her. She's just a girl, and I have absolutely no interest.
But... fate sometimes has surprises in store for us, and we're forced to accept them... whether we want to or not!!
