The surprise
It was Mia's big night.
No not her big night that would end her singleness, but we had planned so much for her engagement, it was like a mini wedding.
I tilted my head to meet Lucas as we rode next to each other in the back of the Limousine. The kids had decided to ride with their grandparents. They had been super clingy and just as excited after Lucas had told them they would be spending their holiday with their grandparents.
I spent the last few days trying to organize them for it and tonight after the engagement party, they would be going home with their grandparents to spend the next few weeks.
They had been beaming with joy in the last few days and I already missed them. Thankfully, I had great consolation. With the kids out for a while, Emma was only obligated to come once a week, and that meant time alone with Lucas.
Much needed, much desired alone time with him
I blushed as I imagined all the things I hoped to do with Lucas in that big empty house and yes it had every single thing to do with his cock and roaming naked all day.
"You look handsome," I whispered bringing my lips closed for a kiss. That was not a lie. I had had my fair share of men for a lifetime but goddamn I had never seen any man rock a tux better than Lucas.
It was the sexiest black Tuxedo I had ever seen, or maybe it was because the man wearing was somewhat belonging to another world entirely.
It was perfectly trimmed, fitting his lean muscular body, with a bow tie that matched my gold glittery dress.
His brown hair was neatly shaved in the edges, leaving the top short.
I missed running my hand through it while he did very evil things to my body, but that loss was compensated by the dark stubble he had let grow on his chin.
How do I put this nicely? Um...Friction.
"And you're glowing." his eyes lingered for a minute on the dipping neckline of my dress and a low growl escaped his chest. "I don't know if I want to turn around and take you back home to fuck you brainless or if I want to wait until we're done with tonight so I can get my price legitimately, and sill fuck you brainless. "
"What about a third option," I leaned closer as I spoke.
"I like the sound of that."
"You take me right here, in the back of this very spacious limo. I mean it would be a shame to waste all of this room," I gestured to the space around us, "it was obviously made for two people who just want to fuck like rabbits."
"You just might be more perverted than I give you credit for." he grinned, running a smooth hand over my knee. "I would love to take up on your generous offer, sadly we're here" he pointed at the window outside.
I frowned, not bothering to hide my disappointment. "Let's ditch the engagement tonight."
"My sister would have both our heads," he tore himself away from me, and I shivered at the sudden loss of contact from his warm body. "the press is here, can you handle that?"
"I've never had to handle such a situation before," I answered, frowning as my eyes caught sight of the swarm of rep[orters, racing towards the limo.
"Just smile, nod, and say nothing," he said in a clipped tone and his jaw ticked.
I had a feeling he was not their greatest fan. "You don't seem to like them much."
"Major understatement, but I'm not the only one that's not best friends with those leeches." he took my hand and held it firmly in his, "follow my lead and you would do great Muffin."
He climbed out of the Limo first, and I used the next few seconds to calm my breaths before the door swung open again. Taking his hand, I stepped out as gracefully as these Louboutins would allow. I tipped my chin up, forcing a smile as camera lights flashed in my face from all directions.
"They seem to love you," I noted as he looped my hand in his and led us through the swarm.
"More like they just want new gossip." he gave a tight, yet charming smile.
I was more focused on reaching the grand doors, but some of the questions still filtered through my ears.
"Lucas...Lucas who's your date?"
"Is she going to be the next Mrs. Maxwell?"
Seriously?
Most of the rude questions left me stunned and some were simply hilarious, but we managed to push past them and Lucas released a deep breath as the doors banged shut.
"What was that?" I chuckled, trying to catch my breath like I was just in a marathon.
"And today they're being nice." he smiled.
"I have a feeling I do not want to see their bad days."
"Trust me, you don't. My family and I do our best to keep out of their bad books or at least out of their books at all. But we can only do so much."
As we walked into the large and wide room where the party had already started, I gasped as I took in the sight of the ornate decorations.
"Where did Mia get the time to organize this?" I chuckled, still in awe at the ornateness of the room.
"Mom did most of the decor here." he grinned, "My mother would pass off for an event manager any day."
"I have not the slightest doubt." My eyes roamed the room until I caught sight of Mia and Mason. They were receiving congratulatory praises from guests.
Lucas and I walked up to them and I gave Mia a big hug, not minding how hard she squeezed this time. Lucas and Mason engaged in their manly hugs and chats. She was beming with joy all over, her white perfect teeth glowing along with the white dress she wore.
"You look like a princess," she said.
"That's dangerous, the bride is supposed to be the most beautiful." I teased. "so you finally rocking the white,"
"And it's red for my wedding day," she said excitedly. "I cannot wait to see the look on Mason's face when I tell him."
"From the look on his face right now, I know he would not mind."
"He better not. I cannot believe it's finally today." tears swarmed in her eyes as she looked around the room like it was the first time she was really taking it all in.
"Nu-uh." I wiped her eyes before the tears streamed down and ruined her perfectly done makeup, "save the tears for your wedding day."
"You're right," she chuckled.
"Where's Lilian?"
"Babysitting the kids somewhere. She's still in a mood. I think she's pregnant." she said in a hushed tone.
"That would explain jer mood swings. I better go find her, if that's the truth, I assure you those three kids together might make her go insane."
"The last thing I need is drama on my engagement evening." she chuckled, but there was a serious edge to her tone.
"Well count of me. And congratulations on your engagement, you look fabulous." she smiled and hugged me again.
"Can I say congrats to my baby sister now?" Lucas asked from behind me.
I giggled, "I wasn't stopping you." I turned to Mason, giving Lucas the chance to hug Mia. After giving him my congratulations, I turned around to find the twins and Zoey.
"There you all are," I found them at the back of the room, Lilian sat holding her chin and I could tell she would be in tears if I had not come in time.
"Chris!" the kids squealed and screamed, racing towards me as they always did.
"Kwis!." Zoey mimicked, following in her cousin's footsteps. She had learned my name recently and every time she said it, it made my ovaries flutter.
"My little angels." I grabbed her first, pressing long kissed all over her face. I leaned lower and kissed each of the twins on their foreheads.
"We rode with Grammy Chris," Abby said happily, almost tugging my dress off in excitement.
"And it was so cool," Aiden added, his joy matching his sister's.
"Oh wow, I guess I did miss a lot." I chuckled, "I might just ditch daddy and ride home with you guys."
"Where's daddy?" Abby asked, just as Zoey started cooing "Daddy! daddy!" I turned back to see him approaching us with a familiar woman.
"Take them," Lilan cried, "just take them all away so I can breathe."
"Tired of motherhood so soon?" the woman chuckled from behind us. Robing followed too. "Jesus, sis the girl is barely three."
"How would you like to adopt her?" Lilian snapped at her sister. I recognized her from the day I visited Lucas's company.
"I don't mind adopting three adorable humans." she leaned down to hug Abby and Aiden first.
"Hey my love," she cooed at Zoey, who was now struggling to go to her and Robin took her. He said a small hello to me, then went to stand behind Lilian.
"I know you," Lilian's sister said as she got a better view of my face.
"Chris is daddy's girlfriend." Abby jumped with joy as she spoke.
"I knew you looked familiar," she said in realization.
"It's nice to see you too..." I made a pause struggling to remember her name.
"Addison," she reminded me with an earnest smile that made her facial resemblance to Lilian obvious.
"I'm sorry...I" she waved off my apology with a hug.
"It's fine, we only met once." I smiled hugging her back.
"What's wrong sis?" she turned to Lilian with genuine concern this time.
"Just a bad headache." Robin was still patting her back and Zoey was practicing the art of hair eating with her father's hair.
"On today of all days?" Lucas chuckled from behind us.
"Daddy!" the twins who had their attention somewhere else turned and grabbed their dad in a tight hug. Anyone would find it hard to believe they left the house together only a few hours ago.
"I'm in no mood for you today Lucas," she said in mock annoyance.
"I remember saying that only a thousand times before," he grinned, and stepped closer, with the kids hovering next to him. "what's wrong sis?"
"Headache."
"I think I'll just take her home." Robing offered, ut she hissed a sharp, "hell no."
"Hell no!" Zoey babbled, mimicking the scowl her mother was giving her dad. I worked to hold back my amusement at how cute she looked.
"Okay, okay." he raised a hand in the air, "I was only trying to help, there's no need for you both to attack me."
"Give her to me, she'll make me feel better." she stretched her hand and took Zoey. "Mia would be hurt if I left, plus I spent too much time preparing for it to ditch it for a headache."
"Would some juice help?" I offered.
"I think."
"I'll get you some."
"You are simply the best, thanks."
"Can I come too?" Abby asked, holding on to my hand as I turned to leave. "I want some water too."
"Of course princess."
I made my way across the room, nodding politely at party guests whom I had never seen before, but somehow recognized me as they waved and made greeting gestures at me. It was like they knew me and were surprised to see me.
I took a glass of juice for Zoey and two bottles of water for the kids and turned to leave when a woman grabbed my hand softly, preventing me to leave. "What the...?" I turned in surprise, almost dropping the juice.
"I'm sorry," the woman said softly and I held back, seeing the apologetic look on her face, but her next words not only left me in shock but made my stomach churn in anger. "I just never thought you would be here tonight Sarah, it's been so long."
"Excuse me?!"
"You certainly look a lot different now, did you lose some weight or something?"
Realization dawned on me, and I realized what all the friendly yet surprised stares were all about. I scoffed and snathed my hand from hers. "My name is Christine." I flashed her a tight smile, "you sure have the wrong person."
"Oh," she looked genuinely confused and surprised, but that was not doing nearly enough to make me feel better. "I am so sorry."
"Not needed." I snapped and turned around, making my way back.
"Chris are you upset?" Abby asked and I realized I must have scared her with how I replied earlier.
I sucked in a sharp breath and released it slowly. "No, just a little surprised."
"Who's Sarah?" she asked again.
Shit. "I don't know, but that woman thought I was her for some reason." I felt terrible for lying to her, but Lucas had not decided to tell the kids about Sarah yet, and I was not about to force his hands.
Thankfully, the sight of my best friend at our small group helped relax my nerves completely. "Latecomer," I teased as I hugged her after giving Lilian her juice.
She gave me a warm hug back, "Fashionably late." she clarified with a smirk as she released me.
I chuckled, and looked around briefly, "where's Alex?"
"Your business tycoon of a boyfriend and your future brother-in-law stole him from me briefly," she said with amusement, "I have a feeling they would be great friends." she leaned in to whisper "they're both workaholics."
"Tell me about it." I rolled my eyes, amused.
The party rocked on slowly, with me trying to enjoy the night and keep the kids in sight and also out of sight from Lilian.
If Mia was right about her condition, pregnancy was clearly not the most friendly with her.
Celine and I took turns to watch the kids like guards, seeing as Lucas and Alex were busy chatting away at god knows what.
Martha and Calvin were beaming with joy as they made their way across the large mass of guests, greeting and receiving guests.
And soon enough, it was time for the couple's first dance.
Mia and Mason took the floor first, swaying along to the music for the next few minutes as everyone else watched in adoration.
Rounds of applauses filled the air as the music came to a slow stop.
I turned to take my seat back but bumped into a hard chest that made me almost made me fall back. Lucas caught me firm hold, pulling me hard against his chest before I made it to the floor. "Ow?!" I feigned annoyance but ended up chuckling.
"My apologies muffin, but I think you owe me something so I cannot just let you go yet." he wrapped another hand around me and I giggled, feeling giddy at the scent of his cologne.
"I wonder what that is, you seem to have been busy all evening." I frowned.
"I won't bother to apologize for that, seeing as it has been torture staying away from you all night, sadly work calls, but I'm here at your command." he leaned down and nibbled on my ear. "You smell so fucking good."
My cheeks thrummed with heat and I did nothing to stop the sheepish smile, "Do you want to dance?"
"What do you think I meant when I said you owe me something," he pulled himself off me, but only so he could take my hand and ask, "may I have this dance muffin?"
"With pleasure." I grinned.
I chewed on my lips, following as he led me to the dance floor, where Mia and Mason along with a few other couples were swaying along to the cool music.
Mia shot me a wink when we stepped on and I wiggled my brows.
It was easy to forget we were an engagement party with over a hundred guests as he pulled me close, making me rest my head on his chest as we moved in a slow rhythm to the music. It was very different and much more intimate than what everyone else was doing.
"Speeding things up now are we?" I chuckled.
"I just love having your body wrapped around mine and feeling you so close to me." his voice was a husky whisper. He kissed my hair and I wrapped my arms around him.
"How can I complain?"
The next few minutes ran so quickly like seconds.
I found myself savoring the warmth of having my body pressed to his and moving slowly in tandem with him.
I opened my eyes to take a glance at the crowd around us.
To my utter surprise, we were the only ones left on the dance floor and everyone else watched with smiles on their faces as we took the attention of all the guests.
"I think Mia might eventually have our heads anyways." I et my eyes drift closed again. Something was best felt, not seen and this dance was one of those few things.
"Why?" his voice sounded amused.
"We have everyone's attention."
"I don't think she would mind, she's grinning from ear to ear at us."
Our little escape land was disrupted by angry gasps and a ruckus from all around us.
I did not bother to pay heed to the distraction, thinking it would just go away, but as the clicking sound of a woman's heels approached us, I realized I might just have to see who it was that caught everyone's attention so suddenly.
Someone even yelled an "Oh My God!" in the distance.
I turned my head, just in time to feel a light yet rude tap on my shoulder.
"I think you are holding something that's mine." the voice said sharply and Lucas stiffened.
I watched in horror at the woman standing in front of me. Long red hair that fell over her shoulders, a body that looked like sex on a stick, and a face that would make angels weep yet resembled mine so damn perfectly.
"You?!" Lucas's voice was barely a whisper.
"Yes baby," she smirked, "also I think you got the wrong sister. It's me you should be dancing with, not her."
"What?"
"Maybe we need to do a formal introduction," she stretched a perfectly manicured hand, "I'm Sarah, it's nice to finally meet you sister."
