Sister's return

My blood ran cold as she said the word for the second time.

If Lucas did not have both hands wrapped around me so firmly, I sure as hell would have tumbled over to the ground the moment she said the words.

Words could not be formed, my thoughts were an incoherent jumble spiraling left and right and running a million miles per second as unanswered questions swirled freely.

There was a commotion, the other guests could vote their questions, The whats, hows, when, whys? I just stood there, stricken by the horrific piece of news I had just received.

"Surprised?" she snickered, "believe me I was shocked when I found out too."

"You're lying," I finally found my voice, pushing myself off Lucas.

He shared the same shocked expression everyone else had written on their faces.

"I know you needed a great comeback to make everyone dazzle and fawn at your presence, but that was quite an overkill.

I do not have any siblings." I flashed her a faltering smile.

"Then why do you look so terrified of me right now?

" one of her perfectly arched brows raised, she pivoted around the room, sucking in a sharp breath at the sight of everyone else.

Even the kids were as still as a statue, watching both in confusion and curiousity.

"But you're right. After five years of having to stay away from my family, I needed a mindblowing entry, and what better entry than crashing my dear sister in laws engagement party and revealing my long-lost sister? "

"I am not your fucking sister!" I barked, somehow resisting the urge to slap her across the face.

"Oh come on, I cannot be that bad. Look at the resemblance between us, we almost look like twins, except I look like the supermodel I am and you look like you belong under the bridge."

Her words stung, but before I could voice my anger, Lucas was already in front of me. "Get out!" he boomed, pointing towards the door. "get the hell out of here now."

"Oh baby," I almost wept at her pathetic attempt at seducing Lucas. "Come on, you haven't seen your dear wife in almost six years and all you can say is that?" she trailed a hand lazily over his shoulder and he smacked it away angrily.

"You lost the right to call my brother that when you walked out on him and his kids..." Robin spoke through gritted teeth as he approached us in heavy steps, I was not the only one that wanted to tear her apart.

"Ah, I had almost forgotten how supportive your family is. It's nice to see you too Robin. Thanks for taking care of my babies all these years, and thank you sis for playing the good mom."

"I swear if you call me that one more time, I will rip your head apart." I stepped closer feeling my rage boil so much it ould spillover, but Lucas held me back.

She scoffed, "Aww you almost look cute together, I felt a little guilty for ruining your dance, it was so romantic. But I'm tired of going back and forth with this issue, so let me give you some proof to soothe you." she dug her hand in her Chanel purse and took out a piece of paper, neatly folded.

"DNA results." she said simply as she stretched the paper to me. "believe me, I'm the most disgusted that my mother had an affair with your father too, I mean I have to share some blood ties with someone so pathetic. But it's not okay, I guess we cannot turn back the hands of time now can we?"

"I am not taking a look at that." I looked at the paper in disgust, "whatever is written in there, it's false.

" My mom died before my eyes yourself father left me at the foster home.

"I have no other boyfriend get yourself and your lies, out of here.

As you rightly say, my boyfriend and I were having a very romantic dance. "

"You're so unfortunate that they could not even tell you the truth. Too bad though, because whether or not you look at the contents of this paper or not, we are sisters—half-sisters actually—I look just like my mom, so I guess apart from my husband you also stole my face too."

"Shut up!" I screamed as the tears flowed down my cheeks "You shut your filthy mouth right this fucking minute, you know nothing about my life."

"On the contrary I do." her confidence was almost terrifying.

She turned round to look at the piercing attention on us.

I had not even noticed that most of the guests had left already and now it was just a handful of people along with Lucas's family.

She leaned in to whisper, "you do not want me spilling all the pitiful details of your life growing up, especially the part where your dear pathetic father sent you to live in the foster home because he was too ashamed to tell you that he was running away from the cops for killing his wife. "

A vise tightened in my chest and I staggered a step back. It was a lie, it had to be. Dad never explained why he left, but that could not have been the reason. It had to be fucking something else because there was no way I had lived this lie all these years without so much as a clue.

I looked to my side where Celine stood. The look on her face was pure murder and I knew that would have been the word to describe Sarah right now if Alex did not have his hand wrapped tightly around her, holding her back. Lucas's eyes danced with rage but he too could not do anything.

She was here for a fight ad she had decided to start with me.

It was my fight and I would be dammed if I walked out the loser.

But right now as her words struck me, I realized it was a losing battle.

I did not want to believe her, refused to accept that the mother I believed brought me to this world, the mother whose face my brain pictured when I remembered the word "mom" was really just a stranger, murdered by my father.

It was too much. Too much for me to breathe.

"Liar!" I screamed the only word that board in my head.

"Those tears in your eyes say that I'm speaking the truth, but you can choose to believe what you want to," she smirked, knowing she had struck the nerve she was aiming for.

She reached for her wavy hair and plucked out a few strands, stretching them out to me, "if you need further proof, carry out your own test, I got my proof the same way. "

"What does that even mean?"

"The other day in front of the kid's school," she smiled ruefully, "now that I think of it, I really should have pushed you to your death, maybe that would have stopped you from fucking my husband.

It's fine though. The evidence I got that day is enough to leave you so devastated, watching your tears stream down your face freely, that's more than enough satisfaction for me. "

"You must feel really good right now Sarah." Lucas finally spoke. I had not noticed that he had the paper containing the results in his hand until I looked at him.

"I do. I have had to live these past few months watching this con artist, impersonator get your attention and stay around my kids, but now I feel much much better getting her back for it, and that's not even the main reason I'm here," she smirked.

"Then I guess you do not know that just DNA does not really prove anything.

Chris is not going to take any test again to prove anything because whether or not you are both blood sisters or halfsisters, nothing changes.

" the finality in his tine could only o so much to make me feel better, but his warm hands wrapping around mine and pulling me into him comfortably was a lot more than just welcome, it was needed.

"This still means the world to me and you are really just nothing but an old flame. "

"Old flame?" she looked visibly hurt.

"Yes bitch old fucking flame." Mia snapped, "past, ex, those are the words to describe what you mean to our family now. My brother got over you and he got over you a damn long time."

"His letters say very differently." she was clinging on to her last hope now, I could tell that from how her pace quivered and I knew Lucas could tell too, but that did not stop the way he froze.

"How did you know about the letters, I never sent any." he looked both shocked and confused.

"What letters?" Mia asked sharply.

"I guess your dear perfect brother never told you that he had been writing to me every day since I left.

" her confidence returned as she spoke. "I know you missed me, Lucas, believe me, I missed you too.

" She stepped closer and placed a hand on his chest. like the speed of light, Mia was on her, grabbing her hand and throwing her back so hard, so almost lost her balance.

"Kepp your disgusting hands away from my brother." she made a move at her again, but Lucas held her back.

"Don't waste your strength on her."

"Let me be, I have plenty to waste on her, so much I wished I could say to her that day when she turned her back on you and the twins, so let me speak." she pulled her hand free from his and turned to face the witch.

"I see our little Mia is no longer that scared and shy little teen, last I heard you're now an aunt to three kids. Where's Lilian by the way?" she tipped her head around the room, laughing when her eyes met Lilian. "Best friend. There you are, you don't look so happy to see me."

"Because I 'm not." Lilian's voice was just as cold as the glare she was shooting Srah. "why have you come back now? You always did find a way to ruin everyone's happiness without trying. Our family is finally rising from the dark cloud you put us in for years, why the hell are you back now?"

If no one else's words got to her, Lilian's emotionless words were enough to fill her eyes with tears. "I just want what's mine back."

"You lost that the day you chose your career over us.

" Lucas said coldly, "I gave you a choice Sarah, I told you if you left that would be the end, I gave you a chance to take back what you lost but every time you just shoved it back in my face.

So you do not come here today and lay claim over my kids or act like you know us or expect us to treat you like a long-lost family member.

You are not family Sarah. You stripped yourself of that privilege long ago, so I'm asking nicely now, leave us alone. "

"What has she done to you baby," she still had the nerves to ask, "she has snatched you away from me, she might have my face but she's not me..."

"A fact I'm most thankful for. You were my biggest mistake in life Sarah and I'm glad I did not make that mistake twice."

"We have children together," she said in a sob.

If she was fooling anyone with those tears, she most definitely not me.

"Children whom you abandoned, why do you feel like anyone is under any obligation to even hear what you have to say.

You have no place here, not on this family, not in Lucas's life, and most definitely not in the kids' life.

Just go back to wherever you're coming from. "

"How dare you even talk to me," she launched an arm at me but ended up screaming in pain as someone grabbed her hair from behind.

"Listen to me you disgusting bitch," Celine said, pulling her hair tightly from the root and ignoring her cries of pain.

"I've listened quietly while you spew all those words at my best friend, but if you dare lay even a finger on her, I will end you.

.." her voice dropped to a whisper as repeated, "end you. "

"Bess are you okay?" she looked at me in concern.

"I am no," I nodded, I had never been more thankful for my overprotective best friends.

"Celine, please let her go, the cops are on their way," Lucas said, but from the look on his face, I knew he would much rather prefer he didn't let go.

"How can you be so cold to me," she shrieked, clutching her head as Celine released her. "I'm your damn wife!"

"Ex-wife." Mia and I clarified at the same time, completely unprepared for another shock in the same night.

"Wife," she repeated, "Lucas and I are not divorced, so yes, he's my husband and I am his wife."
