28. I Must Be Dreaming

I MUST BE DREAMING

Ishould have known last night wasn’t real the moment I woke up to an empty bed at the crack of dawn, a hollow ache settling deep inside me.

I threw my head back into my pillow, hunger and frustration coiling in my chest as I let out a weary groan.

Charlie didn’t come with me—she doesn’t like me enough, I told myself.

I was too bold, too desperate, and now I’m left with this ache of rejection.

Maybe that’s why I paused—my hope flickering—when I thought I heard Dad’s laugh from the kitchen, as if a fleeting reminder that perhaps there’s still some hope, some warmth amid the solitude I’m drowning in.

I gently pulled back the sheets, my heart pounding with a mix of exhaustion and longing.

I grabbed one of my oversized T-shirts, slipping it over my head as I staggered toward the kitchen, my eyes still blurred with tears I couldn't quite hold back.

When I looked up, there she was—standing there in my clothes, her laughter ringing through the room, shining brightly as she shared a moment with Dad that felt like a fragile piece of happiness I almost feared to disturb.

“Oh hey, honey,” Dad’s voice was tender, full of warmth as he smiled at me. Charlie’s face lit up as she slid a mug of steaming coffee toward me, their affection wrapping around me like a comforting embrace.

“You’re still here?” I gasped hopeful as she drew near, her presence so soothing yet bittersweet.

“Of course, silly,” she said gently, her eyes full of innocence and affection. “Remember, we had a sleepover.” She leaned in, kissed my cheek softly, and suddenly, a blush rose to my face, my heart fluttering unexpectedly.

Then Charlie’s voice, so earnest and sincere, cut through the quiet. “Mr. Jacobs, I would love to take your daughter out on a date this afternoon. Do you mind if we reschedule therapy?” Her face was serious, full of genuine intent, making my chest tighten with hope and nervous anticipation.

Dad looked up from his newspaper, a small smile playing on his lips as he considered her words. “Hmm?” he murmured, then nodded softly. “Oh, yeah, that’ll be fine. You two kids go and have fun.”

I glanced at Charlie, and the way her eyes met mine sent a jolt straight to my heart, making my pulse race uncontrollably. As I smiled at her, she gently nudged the coffee in my hand, her voice soft but filled with warmth, “Drink up, we’ve got school in about an hour.”

I nodded, taking a hesitant sip. How did she know how I drink my coffee? Every detail was flawless. The perfect balance of cream and sugar, the warmth of the coffee wrapping around me like a comforting hug—everything about it felt just right, just like her.

Her eyes watched my throat as I swallowed and I couldn’t help but picture last night when she was buried between my thighs. As if instinctively I clenched them feeling the wetness of my release still coating the inner thigh.

Charlie gave me a knowing smirk and I blushed, hiding my face in the coffee.

I called out with a burst of warmth in my voice, “I’ll make breakfast,” fighting to keep my focus, even as Charlie’s presence still lingered here, tempting me with every glance.

My hands moved instinctively toward the stove, pulling out a few pans, setting them gently on low heat as I dolloped buttery goodness into each one, feeling the melt as my senses sharpened.

I grabbed the bisquick and some eggs, the milk from the fridge—every movement fueled by a rising passion, a craving for something more.

“Pancakes or French toast?” I asked with anticipation.

“Pancakes,” Charlie answered softly, a mischievous sparkle in her eyes.

“They sound like cake for breakfast, and honestly, I could use that kind of sweetness to start the day.” Dad nodded in agreement, and I lost myself in whisking the batter, cracking eggs with deliberate care, the sizzle of the batter hitting the pan singing to me.

I seasoned the eggs with salt and pepper, then reached for a ripe tomato from the vegetable drawer, dicing it fine and slipping it into the eggs, feeling the flavors come alive.

As I turned the pancake, my gaze kept darting up to meet Charlie’s, her eyes catching mine each time—the electricity between us impossible to ignore.

My heart raced as I served breakfast, a genuine smile spreading across my face when everything was ready.

The towering stack of pancakes sat invitingly beside three fluffy omelets, a feast that felt charged with unspoken promise.

I handed out plates, the warmth of the syrup jar between us, thick and glossy, a sweet temptation. “Dig in,” I grinned, my voice thick with emotion, clutching an omelet and a few pancakes for myself.

Charlie reached for the same, her eyes shining with something fierce and tender. Dad took a generous portion, utterly unbothered, but I was fixated on Charlie—watching with bated breath as she cut into her omelet, then took that first, deliberate bite of the eggs.

A soft, sensual moan escaped her lips—the kind that stirred something deep inside me, an undeniable longing. The sound hit me like a wave, igniting a fire in my chest, my thoughts spiraling to a place of wild desire—wondering what it would be like to have her begging for release.

Dad said goodbye sometime after breakfast, but Charlie and I were lost in our own world.

She poured her heart out, her voice trembling with excitement, as she passionately shared her love for Greek and Roman history.

Her eyes sparkled as she told me the story of Artemis, the fierce huntress—her fearless band of warrior women, their unwavering strength, and their incredible bravery.

I was truly moved by how deeply she cared, how much that ancient world meant to her.

Seeing her face light up with such pure joy, her passion igniting every word, filled my heart with pride and wonder.

It was as if her love for the past had ignited a fire inside her—and in me as well.

“What about you? What ignites your soul? What fires burn so fiercely within you that they consume your every thought?” She smiled gently, and in that moment, my mind wavered—caught between honesty and the irresistible urge to sweep her into my arms, to silence her question with a kiss.

She watched me with unwavering attention, her eyes searching mine, as I was lost in her breathtaking beauty, feeling my heart pound harder.

“You would make a breathtaking huntress,” I breathed out.

A soft chuckle escaped her lips, tinged with a bittersweet echo that I couldn't quite grasp—like I'd missed something vital, something that whispered of unspoken pain beneath her smile. She leaned in, kissed my forehead tenderly, and gently pulled me to my feet, guiding me around the table.

“Let’s go shower—time is slipping away, and we’ve got school to get to.”

I looked at her, a warm smile spreading across my face, as she led me back toward the bathroom, feeling my heart swell with a mixture of affection, longing, and the unspoken hope that maybe, just maybe, she understood what I couldn't put into words.

Pulling her shirt over her head I watched as her breasts bounced slightly as she tossed the shirt aside.

My sunflower pendant sat between her breasts catching my eyes in the light.

If I was honest, I had never seen another woman’s breasts so close.

As if catching my thought Charlie grabbed my hand placing it on her left breast.

My breath hitched as embarrassment crept through me, you’d think having a pair of boobs I would have been less nervous. There was just something different about someone else’s breasts. Especially when they laugh and kiss you and whisper “You’re so cute.”

Charlie pulled my fingers to her lips and kissed them gently while I stood there almost too frozen to the spot. She grabbed my other hand kissing the tips of my fingers before placing both my hands back onto her breasts.

“You can explore my body if you want too,” she whispered encouragingly.

A small flicker of fear bubbled to the surface before I shoved the anxiety downward.

My fingers trailed across her round slopes toward her nipples.

The urge to taste them overcame any fear or embarrassment and I leaned close.

My tongue darted out to the soft delicate skin.

She smelled like men’s cologne and a soft mix of cherry blossom and she tasted slightly salty.

My heart thudded wildly in my chest as I felt the soft giggle beneath my tongue.

I looked at her confused for a moment before realizing my tongue had hit a sensitive spot.

She was ticklish and it just made me want to lick her more.

My tongue glided across her breasts towards her nipples and I heard her breathy moan pulling back and smiling at her. I kissed her on the lips.

“Time limit and all right?” I grinned mischievously as I slipped off my T-shirt and turned the shower water on. When the water was warm enough I slipped into the stream slicking my hair back and closing my eyes to soak in the warmth.

Hands grabbed my waist and my eyes shot open, “that wasn’t very nice,” she purred against my neck.

I turned towards her, my eyes catching on the water as it rolled down her breasts and splashed on to the floor.

“What are you going to do about it?” I baited.

Her hand latched around my neck before I could blink. Charlie’s face flashed with violence as her lips slammed into mine. Kissing me with such intensity that I could barely see straight.

“Mmm, see sleeping beauty, that's the difference between you and me, I’ve been starved of touch,” she paused her fingers finding the wetness of my pussy and shoving two inside.

I gasped as she pumped and when she jerked her hand away a naughty smile lingered on her lips.

“You however, are a greedy little girl and you’ll soon find that I’m more than willing to wait for you to beg. ”

She shoved her fingers coated in my juices in her mouth before she left the shower.

Discombobulated and so fucking turned on I quickly washed up and despite how hard I tried, my pussy weeped for the touch of her.

Charlie wasn’t in my bedroom when I got dressed. Her black lighter sat in the pocket of my jeans as I walked out the door.

There at the end of the sidewalk was Charlie, dangling a helmet from her fingers calling me to her like an addiction.

My heart thudded wildly as I approached her, every step felt like a dream come true. She set her helmet on my head and I climbed on.

“Hold tight,” she laughed as the engine revved.

I had just enough time to grip to her leathers, my thighs squeezing tight against hers.

The chilly October air whipped by us and in a matter of minutes we were at the school.

She smiled as she helped me off her bike. Her fingers lingering on my rosy cheeks as if to ask something but shook her head.

“I —“

“Woah Charlie is this your bike?” Savannah’s voice interrupted and I turned toward the cheerleader.

“Oh my god Anna! So this is why you didn’t text me this morning, I didn’t know you two were close,” she looked between us questioning.

I didn’t hesitate. I was tired of living like the perfect daughter, the model citizen and I gripped Charlie’s hand in mine, clinging to her as I spoke, “Yeah, Charlie’s my girlfriend.”

Charlie’s eyes lit up with pride. She pulled our joined hands to her lips and kissed mine, “catch you later beauty, I’ve got to go to the main office and clear up my absence.”

Savannah turned towards me a large smile across her face, acceptance was all I saw. I was glad, proud even.

“Well good for you babes, it’s about time you go out with someone who treats you right,” she hugged me and then rushed off toward a row of cars that just pulled into the parking lot. I walked towards the school still full of amazement.

Charlie caught me before first period leaning in close and slipping a note into my hand, when she didn’t head in I looked at her strangely but she pointed to the note.

I’m not skipping. I’ll see you after lunch.

I watched her walk down the halls towards the office once more as the bell rang.

I missed most of the history lesson from the overall tiredness and worry. Charlie didn’t show up for lunch. I spent most of the break watching, waiting.

Coach canceled cheer practice. I reached for my phone to call Savannah.

“Need a ride?”

I turned.

Charlie stood beside her bike, helmet dangling from one hand, smiling like she’d known exactly where I’d be.
