Chapter 18

CHAPTER 18

B lake and Baylan walked silently out of the pack house holding hands. Blake looked lost in thought, so Baylan guided him over to where Puff, Tudor, Alex, Mateo, Atticus, and Ajax were stood talking.

Tudor saw them first and as soon as Blake was close enough, he pulled him into a hug.

Blake one-armed hugged him back, before pulling away. “Thanks, Tudor.”

“Want me to hug you as well?” Mateo asked.

Blake barked out a laugh. “No, it’s fine, but thank you for the offer. I just came to update you on what’s going to happen.” Blake then explained everything.

“I’ve never heard of that before but it sounds lovely we might have to start doing that when gargoyles die not that I want any of them to but you know what I mean.”

Alex gently touched his arm. “We know what you mean, sweetheart.”

“The dragons long ago used to do something similar when a dragon died,” Atticus added.

“But not when their human died?” Alex asked.

Atticus shook his head. “No, the human part of the pairing just had a normal funeral, which I always thought was unfair.”

“We can change that,” Puff said brokenly. “You do what you need to and leave everything to us. We seem to be copied in on all emails from the council, so we can deal with anything urgent.”

“Thanks, Puff, but should you be talking so much?” Blake asked.

“No, he shouldn’t, and he should be drinking his special tea,” Ajax scolded.

Puff rolled his eyes.

“Okay, Baylan and I are off to find somewhere nice to bury Phil and Clara,” Blake said, softly.

“Good luck,” Alex said.

“Thanks.” And with that Blake and Baylan walked away to find the perfect location.

Frederick walked into the dragon’s meeting room. “Hey, mind if I join you?”

“Congratulations on your mating,” Kyle said. “Should you be back so soon?”

“Blake’s friends, Clara and Phil, have just died. Hades and I came back so Hades could help,” Frederick told them sitting down.

“They were in a bad way when we rescued them,” Julian replied. “It’s a shame they couldn’t be saved. I know Blake and the others will miss them, as will Nancy.”

“But, we got to meet the Grim Reaper.”

“Seriously?” General Gasgoyne gasped, sounding shocked.

Frederick smirked. “Oh yeah. Thanatos, or as he prefers to be called, Han, is completely handsome. Apparently, Phil had always said when his time was up, he wanted the Grim Reaper to come and collect him, so Hades called him. While Blake is mourning, Tudor and Puff are looking after everything.”

“Understandable,” General Delinga said. “We will all do what we can to help.”

“So, what did I miss?” Frederick asked.

“Nothing much, we’ve only just started,” Shiloh said.

“We were just filling the Commander in on our initial plans,” General Gasgoyne told him.
