Chapter 30

You can’t resist this sexy abominable snowman hockey player. Over the next several hours, you end up making sweet love by the fire, and then you fall asleep wrapped in his warm, furry arms.

The next morning, you awaken, feeling well rested and content for the first time in a long time. Robert must have gently disentangled himself from you while you were sleeping, and now he is cooking something on the fire. When he sees you are awake, he flashes you a smile that shows all his fangs.

“Hello, sleepyhead,” he says.

You return his smile. “That was nice. Really nice.”

“It was, wasn’t it?” He reaches for your hand, and you give it to him. “I’ve been so lonely since Nicole disappeared. But you’ve made me feel whole again.” He squeezes your hand. “I hope you’ll stay for at least a little while.”

You think of the dinner party that you stood up last night, and the money you won’t earn to pay your rent. You have nowhere else to go, but even if you did, there’s nowhere else you’d rather be than here with him.

“I’ll stay,” you tell him.

An amazing aroma fills the cave. Whatever Robert is cooking for breakfast, it smells incredible—like nothing you’ve ever experienced before. Your mouth starts to water.

“What are you cooking?” you ask.

The yeti jerks his head at the space on the ground where the hitchhiker had been lying last night. Now, all that is left of him is a pile of clothes and his duffel bag.

“I don’t just eat frosted flakes,” Robert explains.

For breakfast, you feast on scrambled eggs with a side of hitchhiker bacon. He is delicious.
