Chapter 37 Lunch With The Sinclair Family

About ten minutes later, Kendall appeared at the entrance of the Imperial Hotel. The three members of the Sinclair family had been waiting for her on the sofa in the hotel lobby ever since she agreed to meet them.

When Kendall's figure appeared at the entrance, the front desk hadn't even reacted yet. The three members of the Sinclair family, who had watched the surveillance video many times, recognized Kendall at first sight.

Victoria quickly got up and walked to Kendall with a kind smile on her well-maintained and beautiful face.

The front desk staff, who had just realized what was happening, followed closely behind Victoria and introduced her to Kendall.

"Miss Kendall, this is young master Nathan's mother.

" She then pointed to Normand and Neil, who were a step behind.

"This is young master Nathan's father and older brother. "

Kendall was confused. "Young master?" When her eyes fell on Normand and Neil as the front desk staff introduced them, Kendall was slightly stunned.

"My youngest son, Nathan. He's the one you were with during the elevator malfunction that night," Victoria said. She looked at the fair-skinned, fresh-looking Kendall in front of her and liked her more and more.

"Thank you so much for what you did that night. Nathan has claustrophobia. If it weren't for your help, I don't know what would have happened." Victoria's gratitude was so strong that it was hard to ignore.

Kendall didn't quite understand Victoria's enthusiasm. She humbly said, "Madam, I didn't really do anything."

She was telling the truth. She hadn't helped Nathan much in the elevator that day. At most, she had just taken a small nightlight out of her backpack and given it to him. And it was a very cheap nightlight at that.

Victoria smiled and shook her head. Kendall didn't know about Nathan's condition, so she thought that. But the hotel lobby was a busy place and not a good place to talk.

Victoria kindly took Kendall's hand. "It's almost noon now. You must not have eaten yet, right? Can we treat you to a meal?"

Kendall had agreed to come to the hotel because she heard that the family was already waiting for her at the hotel, and she felt that their attitude was very sincere.

The second reason was that she was just driving around and had nothing else to do, so she agreed to meet them. Kendall originally thought it would be a simple meeting where they would say a few words and she would leave. Now... they wanted to eat together?

It didn't seem like a bad idea though.

Kendall smiled and agreed. "I haven't eaten yet. I'm a little hungry, actually. Thank you, Madam."

Victoria was happy and immediately took Kendall to a private room on the second floor.

The first and second floors of the Imperial Hotel were for guests to eat.

They also hosted wedding banquets, corporate banquets, and celebration banquets.

The accommodation rooms were on the third floor and above.

A waiter followed them and handed them the menu after they were seated. Victoria sat next to Kendall and pushed the menu toward her, asking if there was anything she wanted to eat.

The wealthy woman had no airs and was very approachable.

Kendall looked at the menu with her and generously ordered two dishes she liked.

Victoria then asked Kendall if she was allergic to or disliked any food.

After getting Kendall's reply, Victoria skill-fully checked off eight or nine more dishes, two desserts, and a plate of fruit on the menu.

The waiter left with the menu. Normand, who was sitting there, suddenly spoke in a calm voice. "Miss Kendall, do you know us?"

He was truly a business mogul! What a sharp intuition! She had only glanced at him and his son!

Kendall looked up, smiled, and admitted frankly, "I saw you from a distance at a banquet before."

"Oh? What banquet?" Victoria asked curiously. "Kendall looks so young. You should still be in college. Did an elder in your family take you to a banquet?" Victoria was very approachable. Since she heard the staff call her Miss Kendall, she directly started calling her Kendall.

"Yes, something like that. I just graduated this year and don't have a stable job yet," Kendall said.

The banquet was last year. At the time, the father of a company's CEO was celebrating his birthday. Jake went through a lot of trouble to get an invitation.

Originally, Jake didn't want to take Kendall with him. In his eyes, although Kendall was his biological daughter, she grew up in the countryside and didn't know anything about high society etiquette. She was no match for Mia, who was skilled in everything.

But Mia loved taking Kendall to such grand banquets because every time she took Kendall out, she could feel a sense of superiority from being with her.

Kendall was a green leaf, and she was the red flower beside the green leaf that always caught all the attention!

Of course, Mia wouldn't show her intentions.

She would just hold Jake's arm and say that she would have a companion if she took Kendall with her.

Only then did Jake agree to take Kendall out.

The host of that banquet seemed to have a high status in Orapolis.

Normand and Neil also went. Even though Normand and Neil weren't the main characters of the banquet, people who wanted to curry favour with them surrounded them the entire time.

The reason Kendall remembered the Sinclair father and son was mainly because of Mia. Mia liked Neil. She purposely took a glass of red wine and went up to him, winking at Neil and trying to get closer to him.

Neil, a business genius, seemed to have the wisdom to see through her tricks. When Mia purposely pretended to fall and lean on him, Neil seemed to have anticipated her move. He took a big step back and perfectly avoided Mia and the glass of red wine in her hand.

Mia fell to the ground in a sorry state, and the red wine in her glass spilled all over her, revealing her ugly demeanor. Kendall, who was sitting in a corner and witnessed the scene, almost laughed out loud.

Later, she purposely looked up the Sinclair family's background online. Compared to the upstart Hansen family, which had suddenly accumulated wealth in a short period of time, the Sinclair family was a true prestigious family from high society.

The Hansen family had no way of climbing up to their level. Mia's ambition was clear when she set her sights on Neil.

The Sinclair family and the Hansen family were on different levels. Kendall never thought that the handsome boy she casually gave a nightlight to in the elevator that day would be the second young master of the Sinclair family. But... why didn't he come with them today?

Victoria's eyes lit up when she heard that Kendall didn't have a stable job yet. "Do you have a profession you're interested in?"

Before meeting Kendall, Victoria had planned to observe her, but after meeting her in person, she really liked Kendall's clean aura. She couldn't wait to poach her.

"Not for now." Kendall heard that Victoria might want to introduce her to a job, so she casually revealed, "I just signed a work contract a few days ago. I might start working in a few days."

"Is that so..." Victoria felt a little disappointed. The two of them talked about other things, and the atmosphere was quite harmonious.

Don't be fooled by Victoria's approachable demeanor, she wasn't stupid. After hearing Kendall vaguely gloss over the banquet, Victoria never asked any more questions about Kendall's family.

Normand and Neil, the two big men, sat across from them and couldn't get a word in. But looking at their serious expressions and business-like demeanor, it seemed normal for them not to talk.

Soon, the waiter came in with a cart of food. Seeing the delicious-looking dishes being placed on the table, Kendall couldn't help but ask, "Nathan isn't coming today?"

When she heard Kendall ask about Nathan, Victoria couldn't stop herself from smiling happily. "Don't worry about him. Let's eat more!"

After the meal, Victoria's address for Kendall also changed from 'Miss Kendall' to a more informal 'Kendall'.

After they finished eating, Normand and Neil left early due to their busy work schedules. Before they left, Normand and Neil both invited Kendall to visit Nathan at the Sinclair family's home if she had time.

After they left, Victoria leaned in and whispered to Kendall, "Don't be afraid. The father and son are like that. They seem cold but are warm-hearted. They are like ice cubes all day long, and their expressions are colder than one another."

Kendall laughed. "I'm not afraid."

When say two of them leave, he came in and cleaned up the table, leaving behind two plates of desserts and a plate of fruit. Victoria poured Kendall a cup of hot tea and then slowly began to talk.

"Before we ate, you must have been wondering why Nathan wasn't here. We wanted to bring him with us when we left, but he didn't want to come with us."

"He's the same age as you and has had a personality disorder since he was a child.

He's naturally withdrawn. When he was just a few months old, we noticed that he was different from other children.

His brother, Neil, was a troublemaker when he was a child and only became calm after he grew up.

Nathan is completely different. He was born without emotions and doesn't communicate with anyone.

He rarely even communicates with us. But after the accident in the elevator, he, who hadn't left the house for months, has been going out every evening with the nightlight you gave him.

He waits by the hotel elevator for hours, and no one can convince him to leave. "

"We never knew why he was doing this. We thought it was because it was his first time experiencing an elevator malfunction, and it had a psychological impact on him. We even invited a doctor to the house to give him several checkups, and the doctor said he was fine."

"It wasn't until yesterday that Neil found out the reason.

Nathan might be waiting for someone by the elevator.

After he told us that, we immediately asked the hotel to pull up the surveillance video from that day.

Only then did we find out that you had helped him in the elevator.

That's also why Normand and Neil canceled their work to come to the hotel with me to see you and show you how much we appreciate and thank you. "

As Victoria spoke, she picked up her bag and took out a gift she had prepared.

"We should have contacted you sooner to thank you for helping Nathan that night.

I hope it's not too late. This is a small token of our appreciation.

" Victoria said and placed a palm-sized, beautifully wrapped box in Kendall's hand.

Kendall never thought that Victoria would say so much at once. When she looked up the Sinclair family online, she didn't see any news about Nathan. She only saw news about Normand and Neil.

Also, she had never heard of a young master in the Sinclair family from Jake or Mia. It seemed that the Sinclair family had done a good job of keeping the news about him a secret for his protection.

Looking at the exquisite little box Victoria handed her, Kendall's first reaction was to refuse. "I really didn't do anything. The meal you just treated me to is already enough to show your gratitude."

"Please take it. It's nothing expensive," Victoria said. After placing the item in Kendall's hand, she also purposely pressed down on her hand so she couldn't refuse. Her strength was gentle yet firm.

"Also, I have a selfish request. I want to invite you to my house to see Nathan.

Can you?" Victoria might have known that her request was a little too much, so she added, "This is my way of owing you a favour.

If you ever need help in the future, or if there's anything you want right now, you can ask, and I will do my best to help you. "

She then looked at Kendall expectantly. "Can you?" No matter how high her status was in high society or how much she was worth, at this moment, Victoria was just an ordinary mother.

Kendall didn't think much and nodded. "Yes." She raised the exquisite little box in her hand. "This will be my payment for visiting him."

Kendall had already said that the meal she ate today was enough to repay her for helping Nathan last time. Victoria was stunned and then suddenly started to laugh.

She was Normand's wife and Neil's mother. There are not many opportunities for her to take the initiative to owe favours. Since Kendall knew about Normand and Neil's identities, it is impossible for her not to understand this.

Her youngest son might be a little silly, but he obviously inherited her great wisdom when it came to reading people!
