Nick is on his way home from Europe when he learns of Skip’s death.

As a police funeral is planned for Skip, Sam and her squad begin a reinvigorated investigation into his shooting, which has now been upgraded to homicide. Sam and Freddie find a connection between Skip’s case and the long unsolved murder of his first partner, Steven Coyne.
Shock reverberates through the department when it’s learned that a close friend of Skip’s had information about his shooting that he kept secret for years.
DEA Agent Patrick Connolly is hit and killed by a stray bullet while walking on 12 th Street at lunchtime.
Darren Tabor introduces Sam to Roni Connolly, his colleague at the Washington Star .
Sam has to give Roni the dreadful news about her husband’s death and feels an immediate affinity for the young woman.
Angela is pregnant with her third child.
