Chapter 13 Snowy Kiss Interrupted

Cheng Nuo really moved back as he had said.

My parents liked him very much and treated him almost like their own son.

He came to my house for dinner almost every night.

My mom would specially cook the dishes he liked.

He never came empty-handed each time, but he did not bring any valuable gifts either.

They were all some food and daily necessities.

Every time, he coaxed my mom until she beamed with joy.

After dinner, he would urge us to go out for a walk to aid digestion.

I knew she wanted to create chances for the two of us.

At the beginning, I still felt a little awkward.

But as time went on, I slowly got used to it.

The winter nights were too cold.

My hands froze until they hurt a bit.

I could not help blowing warm air on them.

Cheng Nuo glanced at me and directly opened his coat to signal me.

"Feel it."

I subconsciously glanced at his lower body. "Are you sick—"

"What are you thinking?" Cheng Nuo directly stuffed my hand into the inner pocket of his coat.

My face flushed red, and I was about to pull it out when I touched something hot and soft.

I pulled it out to look.

It was actually a steaming hot roasted sweet potato!

I did not know whether to be shocked at where this person had conjured a roasted sweet potato from, or shocked that this person was actually using a coat worth tens of thousands to hold a roasted sweet potato!

"I saw you looking at it earlier when we passed by," Cheng Nuo said with a smile. "Their roasted sweet potatoes are delicious. I used to buy one every time I passed by before. Try it."

I held the warm sweet potato.

My snow boots crunched on the snow.

The late-returning traffic on the nearby road reflected the snow in the sky into a warm orange color.

I suddenly felt that this moment was especially reassuring.

"Don't just focus on eating it yourself. Give me a bite." Cheng Nuo stopped in his tracks.

I felt a bit embarrassed. "I'll go buy you another one."

"I'll just eat this one." Cheng Nuo lowered his head and bit right next to my tooth mark on the sweet potato in my hand.

He smiled with an unclear meaning.

"It's really sweet."

I did not know if it was because the two of us were too close or because the roasted sweet potato was too hot, but I felt my face heating up.

A hand held mine.

"Still cold?"

This time I did not dodge.

Heavy snow fluttered down from the horizon.

I suddenly felt that this winter was the warmest one I had ever spent.

When our walk reached the doorstep of my home, Cheng Nuo held me back.

"Going back just like this?"

I looked up in confusion.

Cheng Nuo's lips bloomed into a smile as he wrapped his coat around me.

Under the dim streetlights of the residential area, his kiss fell together with the snowflakes, carrying a slight coolness as it melted.

I felt my heart melt like the snowflakes as well.

It was a touch and then separate.

Cheng Nuo's expression suddenly changed.

His gaze landed behind me, and his smile disappeared.

I turned my head.

Chen Yanzhou stood in the snow holding an umbrella.

I did not know how long he had been watching.

After a few seconds that felt both long and short, he spoke.

His voice was even colder than the snow.

"So, you were so determined to break up with me because of him?"
