Epilogue - Colt

How is this my life?

The sun drops close to the horizon, lighting up the ocean to a magnificent blue with its pink and purples as it sets for the evening. It’s the perfect backdrop as my fly line whips across the water in a practiced move.

I never thought I’d be fly-fishing in Belize as part of my damn job. After lighting up my cigar, I inhale the cherry whiskey flavor and clamp it between my teeth as I soak up everything about this private paradise.

A splash behind me has me turn my head to find Ethan wading through the water toward me. His skin tans so easily. He’s like a bronzed god as the fading light almost makes him glow.

“Ah, the cigar came out. You’re happy.”

Blowing the smoke into the air above my head, I nod. “Happier now that you’re out here.”

“Pfft. I’ve been on the beach watching you all afternoon. I’m never far.”

After pulling in my fly line, I offer my hand and pull him closer to me. The warm ocean water splashes up between us, and I can’t think of a more perfect moment in my entire life.

Ethan reaches for my cigar and puffs on it, blowing a circle into the air above us.

“I don’t know what it is about you and a cigar Colt, but holy fuck, does it ever do it for me.”

My laugh is low as I take the cigar back from him and draw a final puff before letting the smoke billow out through my lips and watching Ethan’s eyes grow dark.

“It does it for me, too, when you look at me like that.” My finger trails down his chest and over the bulge in his bathing suit. “Let’s take this out of the water, yeah?”

Ethan nods and grabs my hand as we wade back to our villa on the beach.

It’s not quite perfect, but pretty close.

Six villas sit along the beach with private gardens and pools.

Dense clumps of palm trees and jungle-like shrubs guard our privacy.

It would be perfect if we were alone and Ethan could moan as loud as he wants, but it’s fun to get him to stay quiet, too.

Quiet time is for back in Fort Collins in our apartment with thin walls.

Here…I don’t care who hears us.

He pulls me along the beach and up the path to our gorgeous villa that has probably graced the cover of a travel magazine more than once.

“I made dinner and was coming to get you for that, but I like where this is going instead.”

His hands already tug at my shorts, and I slip out of my fishing vest. Ethan is the most enthusiastic partner I’ve ever had. Not that I’ve had dozens or anything, but Ethan is by far the one who brings the most fun to sex.

“Get naked,” I whisper against his lips as I back him up to the patio lounger. “On your stomach.”

His entire body shivers as he groans and does what I ask.

“I love it when you put the quiet cowboy away for a while.”

“Why’s that?” I ask as he throws himself on the lounger and spreads his legs. How did I get this lucky?

“Because it’s hot when you tell me what to do during sex, but make me choose what’s for supper all the time. I love how, ahhh…fucccckkk…” Ethan trails off when my tongue meets his hole, and he stops explaining what I do to him.

I know what I do to him, and I’ll do it every day if he lets me.

Which surprised me somewhat. He calls me his quiet cowboy, and that’s mostly true.

But with Ethan, I’m so comfortable that I just step up and tell him where I want him or what I want him to do.

He never complains. He loves it just as much as I do.

My hands grip his cheeks and spread him apart while holding him down because Ethan can sometimes forget that his ass smashing against my nose causes damage when he bucks like an unbroken horse.

“God, Colt,” he huffs into the lounger. “I’ll stay still. I promise.” He reaches back to spread his cheeks. “Give me more. Please.”

Hoping he keeps his promise, I add my thumb with my tongue and listen to the soft waves against the beach that pair nicely with Ethan’s muffled moans into the cushion.

Somehow, I don’t think we can add a line about how hot sex can be outside on the private patios into his article.

It’s a shame. People should know it’s amazing.

“Colt…” he whines in the tone that I know means he wants it all. My gaze darts around until I find the bottle smushed between cushions. Perhaps we’ve spent too much time out here if we’ve left the lube between the lounger cushions.

My fingers slide in slowly as I tease him a little. “I love it when you do this, Ethan,” I whisper as I lean down to kiss his shoulder. “I love it when you just give it all like this. You’re so beautiful.”

His answer to my words is more rapid breathing and pulling his knees in to lift himself up. Normally, I’d work him over until he has at last one orgasm first, but today I’m impatient. I want to be buried in the man I love as the last light of the day slips away into night.

Ethan must pick up on this. His hand reaches back to guide my cock, and I press forward until he keens, arching his back and reaching behind to grab my ass and pull me tight against him.

My arm wraps around his chest, holding his body against me as I bury myself in him.

Ethan struggles out of my grip so he can ride me, pushing himself back on my cock so hard I need to reach somewhere to find leverage so I don’t fly off the back of the lounger.

His speech is barely coherent, just a constant stream of cuss words and moans with a few ‘I love you’s’ thrown in.

He’s so perfect, and I’m so lucky.

“Ethan.” My palm pushes him hard between the shoulder blades until his cheek hits the cushion. He grips the sides of the lounger as I let the wave of pleasure race through me and empty into him with a loud groan.

“Colt! Fuck!” His orgasm hits him as he shouts my name. I collapse against his back, completely limp and exhausted. It was fast, but damn, it was good.

A day fishing in the sun followed by intense sex is a sure way to fall asleep at the drop of a hat. My eyelids droop while draped across his back.

“Cowboy…get up.”

Ethan wiggles with a laugh, and I push myself up. My spent dick slides free, and Ethan twists around to face me.

“Outdoor shower?”

“Sounds good.”

It’s just a shower head beside the pool with a privacy wall. It’s more like a rinse station, but it works. Ethan set towels out earlier, and after handing me one, I wrap it around my waist as he disappears inside to get whatever food he prepared.

My phone still sits on the patio table from this morning. Ethan came out when I caught my first fish of the day and took photos for me. Opening my text string with Chris, I send him a photo and tell him which fly I used.

He immediately texts me back with a fish he caught today while fishing in the Florida Keys. I can’t wait to get back to Chance this summer for some guided fly-fishing trips and to catch up with Chris in person. I’m loving this life, but I need the fresh mountain air and a quiet stream soon.

“I don’t know if you want butter, but I melted some just in case.” Ethan places a large platter of food down at the table along with the aforementioned butter.

“This looks amazing. Is this lobster? When did you have time to prepare all this?”

Heaps of lobster meat and fresh vegetables fill the tray. Fruit slices, crackers, and breads. “I can multitask.” He plants a quick kiss on my lips. “I have a surprise.”

He quickly goes back into the house, and I sneak a chunk of lobster before he returns with a bottle of champagne and two glasses.

“Wow. What are we celebrating?”

Ethan vibrates as he pulls the foil from the bottle. His cheeks, still flushed from sex, seem to flush more with excitement.

“Remember when we did the Yellowstone hike with the new boots from Fin, Feather, and Fur?”

“I do. Great boots.”

Ethan hums as he works the cork out of the champagne.

The cork sails into the tiny garden, and he releases a satisfied sigh.

“I love doing that.” He pours us each a glass, and after another breath, he raises his toward me.

“Since you remember the hike, you’ll also remember how we reached the point where the bison surprised us, and I spent at least thirty minutes taking an awfully large number of photos. ”

“I remember that, too. It was breathtaking.” Our hike brought us close to several smaller hot springs off the main tourist paths.

Nothing suitable for humans, but still, the steam from the small areas was almost ethereal.

Closer than I thought we’d get in the area.

It was well marked for safety, though. Snow still lingered on the ground from an early fall snowfall.

I’d been nervous about grizzly bears, but the park wardens said they hadn’t seen any for several weeks and the area should be safe.

I carried a weapon just in case, but didn’t tell Ethan.

We didn’t expect to be alongside a group of bison enjoying a warm-up before making their way toward the river.

Ethan had the presence of mind to photograph what we were witnessing, while I simply stared in awe.

The biggest wildlife I’d seen was a mountain lion and a black bear. The black bear wasn’t even big.

Being that close to bison was nerve-racking, and thankfully, Ethan kept a safe distance and used his zoom lens.

“I submitted one of those photos to National Geographic magazine, Colt.”

“Are you…” My heart hammers against my ribs.

Ethan nods with a giant grin. “They’re publishing my photo, Colt! It’s been named one of the top five wildlife photographs of the year!”

I can’t toast him. Instead, I jump up with a whoop. My towel falls from my hips as I grab Ethan’s face between my hands and kiss him. “I’m so proud of you. You did it.”

“We did it, Colt. I never would have done this without you.”

“Snow Creek people are gonna want photos from a guy published in National Geographic. That’s an amazing thing to say. I went on a fly-fishing tour, and an award-winning photographer from National Geographic took photos for us. Baby, you’re doing what you’ve always wanted.”

Ethan steps out of my arms to gulp his champagne. His gaze runs down my body, still naked, since my towel dropped to the ground.

“Doing what and who I want. We should probably eat this food because I won’t be sleeping tonight.”

Wrapping the towel back in place, I sit next to him at the table and pour him more champagne. “Why’s that? Too excited about all this?”

“Excited, and I bought you a new cigar today when I was out.”

“Is that so?”

“Yep,” he pops the ‘p’ before dunking a piece of lobster in the butter. “You, a cigar, and the rest of this champagne. No clothes and a gorgeous night with stars.”

“I thought we needed to plan the next trip and your magazine articles tonight?”

“Tomorrow is a new day, Colt. Work can wait. Tonight is for us.”

“Forever is for us.”

His expression softens. “You’re right. It is.”

The End
