Chapter Nineteen

Levi

I watch as everyone quickly finishes breakfast and then gathers their bags and starts to walk out of the door. This is one hell of a mission we’re going on and I send a prayer up to Nyx for any assistance she’s able to give and that we all survive this.

I can not even fathom losing one of them. Having my demon side finally released has heightened certain parts of my personality, I know that if I lost one of my brothers I’d barely hang on to my control but if I lost Sage the world would burn.

I need to warn my brothers and what will happen if we lose her but I feel it would be a pointless conversation since they’d be right there beside me. None of us will survive it and I fear the world wouldn’t either.

Sage is the last one to finish packing and start to leave before she can get very far I shut the door and lean against it.

I love that she needs no prompting at all as she drops her bag and practically falls into my chest. I wrap my arms around her tightly, kissing the top of her head as my heart beats a mile a minute.

I still can’t believe that we have been so damn lucky to have her as ours.

She amazes me with her skill, strength and courage every damn day.

She’s so damn beautiful that she makes the whole room light up when ever she enters and the thing that makes her even more stunning?

She doesn’t even realise the effect she has on us.

“Are you ok?” I ask, trying to make my voice as soft as I can. With my human glamour dropped its quite rough. Not that she seems to mind.

“I think so. I mean it was such a shock that Monty was killed. At least it was to us, the more I think about it the more certain I am that Monty knew he was going to die after handing that envelope over. I think I’m just still trying to process it.

I know it makes me sound cold but its different than it was when the Director was beheaded by Creep.

She was a vile person who had been the indirect cause of many students deaths.

But with Monty there was just something about him that I can’t quite put my finger on.

It’s almost as if, if we had met under different circumstances we could have been great friends.

Or at the very least strong allies.” She explains, her head still resting on my chest. “Not to mention he seemed to know something about me. it was clear that he knew the goddess quite well so I doubt anyone else but her knows and she won’t tell me until it’s the right time or the Fates allow her.

It’s going to bug me.” She says thoughtfully and I stroke her back trying to offer her comfort whilst also enjoying just having her in my arms.

“I’m fine, honestly and I’ll deal with the shock of seeing him beheaded when everything finally calms down after we’ve rescued the Centre’s and their Bonded.” She finally adds, pulling back and looking up at me.

I really hope we can rescue them all for her but I meant what I said I will not risk her and the others. We can find another way to rescue them if this doesn’t work out and as much as I want to keep Sage happy I want to keep her alive more.

She smiles softly as if she knows what I’m thinking and isn’t mad at me for it. I have told her and I will stick to it. I do double check my bond line to make sure that I’m not projecting to her.

I can’t help myself as I dip my head and take her lips with mine.

I spin us, picking her up and pressing her back against the door as her legs wrapping around me.

My dick hardens and I growl as she grinds her hips against mine.

Her tongue expertly tangles with mine and I nip her lip, her moan sends me wild.

Eventually I slowly start to pull back kissing her one final soft kiss before resting my forehead on hers as we both try to catch our breaths.

I love her so damn much.

“I have a feeling I might not get the chance to do that for a while so I thought I’d make the most of it whilst I can.” I smirk as I let her slowly slide down my body.

Her eyes heat with desire and I barely restrain myself from pulling her back towards me and saying fuck it to our gifts going crazy. I do manage it though mainly because I like Toby and his brothers and I am aware that my brothers are waiting for us both. We need to get going.

She grins up at me before turning and opening the door. My eyes travel down to her ass that looks absolutely biteable in her leather riding pants. I reach out and smack her ass as she passes through the door.

“Promises, promises.” She mutters huskily as she runs her desire filled eyes down my form pausing on my clearly hard dick she licks her lips and my already desire ridden heart beat spikes severely.

The minx just smirks and struts down the hallway towards the stairs swaying that delectable ass of hers temptingly.

“Just wait Darling. As soon as we’ve got control,” I start.

“I plan on not leaving our room or being clothed for at least a week.” She says loud enough for the others, that are gathered at the bottom of the stairs to hear.

Their attention instantly snaps to her, mine has never left her. I love this side of her, full of confidence and just damn right sexy as fuck.

“Do you think you're up to it?” She asks popping her hip and smirking.

Kysen chuckles at our dropped jaws.

“That’s my girl.” He chuckles, fortunately we know him well enough that he doesn’t lose his head for that remark.

Sage giggles and winks at him.

“Beautiful, we are more than up to that task. After this long we have had many, many hours to imagine all the delicious ways we can make you come.” Kai smirks, stepping up to her and kissing her hard as her mouth drops open in shock.

Kai has a certain way with words.

I lean on the wall and chuckle, feisty suits our Sage.

“Excuse me Sir,” Toby says, Kai pulls back and wraps an arm around Sage’s shoulder.

“The horses are ready for you and I’ll have provisions ready for you when you get back.

In case, goddess forbid any one needs medical attention.

I’m sure they’ll need a good meal regardless and we will have something quick they can grab if they want before you move on. ”

“Thank you so much Toby. You and your family have gone above and beyond.” I say gratefully.

When the opportunity presents itself we will definitely be coming back here.

“Here,” Sage says, handing him four gold coins.

Kysen grins as Toby’s eyes widen in shock. I have feeling she’s just given him the equivalent to an awful lot of money.

“Half now and half when we get back.” She says firmly when he tries to argue with her.

There’s no point she’s set on helping the people, so she will.

“Thank you, miss.” He says gratefully sensing a lost battle before he’s even tried to fight it.

She smiles and follows Hunter as we all start to leave.

We quickly load up the horses and then set off.

The whole town is yet to wake, the sun only just starting to light the sky.

We needed to make an early start, if we can manage to check the place out and get Kysen’s brothers to us then there is a small chance that we could rescue them tonight.

That would be the ideal situation anyway and the shortcuts we’ve found should help immensely in getting the guys to us.

Instead of following the wide entry road that we came into the town on we make our way through the cobbled streets as if we were going to ride into the centre of town but five minutes before we get there we follow Kysen down a small turning.

Cobbled streets turn into packed dirt and it’s not long before we reach the woods and the path running through them.

Although not as wide as the paths we’ve been travelling so far it is still wide enough for us to travel on horseback and hopefully just about wide enough to bring the carts and carriages back.

“Alright guys, from here we just head straight and it should lead us to the woods surrounding the walls of the Cursed City. So lets kick it up a notch and see how fast we can make it.” Kysen suggests.

My horse snorts as his muscles bunch preparing to set off.

Almost as if he understands what Kysen has just said.

There’s something just that bit extra about them.

It would hardly surprise me to find out that they had a magic of their own.

I know that they have been used to bring students and instructors through portals to the Fae and Demon realms before and it makes me wonder if maybe they’ve picked up magic whilst travelling through the portals.

Like some residual magic clings to them and because of that it’s changed them.

If I remember, I’ll have to look it up when we get to the academy.

Kysen urges his horse into a gallop and the others follow with no encouragement, I’m the last to follow making sure I have eyes on everyone.

“Watch out for low hanging branches.” Hunt calls back as he barely manages to duck one in time.

“Good call.” Kai calls back amusement clear in his tone even over the sound of the rushing wind and the horses hooves.

After that there’s not much opportunity to talk. Unsurprisingly our horses make it to the edge of the forest surrounding the Cursed City in less time than they should’ve and they don’t even seem to be winded.

We pull the horses to a stop well within the edge of the trees so there’s no chance that they’re going to be spotted.

“We’ll leave the horses here so that we can move more stealthily and are less likely to be seen.” I explain out loud as everyone starts to dismount and Sage gets this cute little furrow in between her eyebrows. The one she gets when she’s confused about something.
