Unspoken realities

Author's pov-

The warm comfort of the morning had faded by the time purv stepped out of bed. He moved with his usual confidence, but there was something different about him-like a storm brewing just beneath the surface.

Divya sat up, watching as he grabbed his shirt from the floor and slipped it on.

She didn't want to ask. But she had to.

"Purv.. what was that call about?"

He didn't answer immediately. Instead, he ran a hand through his hair, exhaling heavily. "I told you, it's buisness."

"But it's bothering you."

Purv paused, his back still turned to her. "It's nothing I can't handle."

That didn't reassure her.

Divya pulled the sheets tighter around herself. "You always do that," she said softly.

He turned slightly, raising an eyebrow. "Do what?"

"Push everything away. Act like nothing affects you."

Purv let out a humourless chuckle. "And what do you expect me to do, Divya? Spill my heart out? Tell you all my demons?"

She didn't flinch at his sharp tone. Instead, she met his gaze with unwavering patience. "No. But I want you to know that you don't have to carry everything alone."

For a second, just a second, something flickered in his eyes- something vulnerable, something raw.

But then it was gone.

Purv let out a slow breath and stepped closer. He placed a hand on her cheek, his thumb brushing against her skin.

"You don't get it, Divya," he murmured. "I don't know how to be that person. The kind who talks, who shares. I never have."

She reached up, covering his hand with hers. "Then let me teach you."

His jaw clenched, as if waging a silent war with himself.

Then, finally, he sighed. "Give me some time."

It wasn't a promise. But it was something.

And for now, that was enough.

Later that day, as divya walked into college, she couldn't shake the feeling that something had shifted between them.

It wasn't just the intimacy. It was more than that.

It was the way purv had looked at her before he left. The way his fingers had lingered on her skin, as if he didn't want to let go.

As if, for the first time in a long time, he was scared of losing something.

Or someone.

But just as she was lost in those thoughts, a familiar voice pulled her back to reality.

"Divya!"

She turned to see kaashi hurrying towards her, eyes wide with excitement. "You will not believe what I just heard!"

Divya raised an eyebrow. "What?"

Kaashi glanced around before lowering her voice. "Vaani. She's back."

For a moment, everything stopped.

The world around her blurred, her heartbeat echoing in her ears.

Vaani. The girl purv had never moved on from. The girl he had lost.

Divya felt a chill run down her spine.

And just like that, the unspoken realities between her and purv... became a little more complicated.
