The ghost from the past

Divya stood frozen, kaashi's words echoing in her ears.
Vaani. She's back.
She forced herself to blink, to breath. "What... what do you mean she's back?"
Kaashi grabbed her arm, pulling her toward a quieter corner of the hallway. "I mean exactly that! She just enrolled in our college. She's back in Delhi, Divya. And guess what?"
Divya's heart pounded. "What?"
"She's in our department."
A wave of unease washed over her. It was one thing knowing about Vaani as a part of purv's past-it was another to have her right infront of them, in their daily lives.
"Did purv know about this?" She asked, her voice quieter than before.
Kaashi shrugged. "I don't know. But the moment he sees her..."
Divya didn't let her finish. She already knew what kaashi was trying to say.
Her chest tightened. She trusted purv, but that didn't mean this wouldn't stir something inside him.
And that terrified her.

By lunchtime, the entire college was buzzing about vaani's return.
Divya sat in the canteen, pushing her food around her plate, lost in thought. Aditya and kaashi sat across from her, exchanging glances.
"You good?" Aditya finally asked.
She looked up, giving him a weak smile. "Yeah. Just tired."
Kaashi sighed, resting her chin on her palm. "You know, you don't have to act like this doesn't bother you."
Divya exhaled. "It's not that, kaashi. It's just... I don't know what to think. Purv never really moved on from her, even if he doesn't realize it."
Aditya crossed his arms. "And you're scared he'll go back to her."
Divya didn't answer. But the silence was enough.
Kaashi reached for her hand. "Divi, listen to me. You're not just some rebound in purv's life. I've seen the way he looks at you. Whatever he had with vaani-it's in the past."
Before Divya could respond, a sudden hush fell over the canteen.
She didn't even have to turn around to know why.
Vaani had arrived.
Divya clenched her jaw as she finally looked up.
Vaani was stunning. Long wavy hair, perfect features, and a confidence that made it impossible not to notice her.
But that wasn't what made Divya's stomach twist.
It was purv.
He had just walked in from the other entrance, and the moment his eyes landed on vaani, he stopped.
For a second, just a second, everything around them disappeared.
Divya held her breath, watching as vaani turned, their gazes locking for the first time in years.
Then, vaani smiled.
And walked toward him.
Divya's fingers curled into fists under the table.
She had no idea what was about to happen.
But she had a sinking feeling that whatever it was-it wouldn't be easy.
