The breaking point
Author's pov-
Divya had tolerated Rehan's subtle advances for days now. The way his compliments lingered a little too long, the way he invaded her space under the guise of being friendly-it all made her uncomfortable. But she had handled it, setting clear boundaries without making a scene.
Until today.
She was leaving the library when Rehan appeared beside her. "Need a ride?" he asked, flashing his usual charming smile.
"I'm fine," divya replied, adjusting the strap of her bag.
He chuckled. "Come on, don't be so cold. We're friends, aren't we?"
Friends. The word felt like poison coming from him.
She was about to decline again when she felt it-his hand, firm and intentional, grazing her waist before moving lower. Too low.
Her breath hitched as she froze in place. For a moment, shock paralyzed her, but then anger surged through her veins. She spun around, her gaze blazing. "Don't touch me like that," she snapped, stepping back.
Rehan raised his hands in mock innocence. "Relax, sweetheart. It was just an accident."
Divya clenched her fists. "It wasn't."
His smirk didn't waver. "You're overreacting. I was just being playful."
She didn't stay to argue. She turned and walked away, her heart pounding.
She needed to tell purv.
---------------------------------------------------
Purv was waiting in the parking lot, leaning against his car, arms crossed. His expression softened the moment he saw her, but as soon as he noticed the tension in her face, his brows furrowed. "What happened?"
Divya hesitated for a second before stepping closer. "I need to tell you something."
Purv straightened, his eyes darkening with concern. "What is it?"
She took a deep breath. "It's Rehan."
The shift in purv was immediate. His jaw tightened, his posture stiffened, and an icy calm settled over his face. "What did he do?" His voice was dangerously low.
Divya swallowed. "He touched me, purv. Not just in a casual way. It was deliberate."
Silence.
The kind of silence that carried the weight of a storm about to break.
Purv's fists clenched at his sides. His breathing grew heavier, his body vibrating with restrained rage. "He did what?"
Divya reached for his arm, grounding him. "I handled it. But I need you to know. I don't trust him."
Purv exhaled sharply, running a hand through his hair. "I should have dealt with him sooner," he muttered, his mind already spinning with thoughts of how to handle Rehan.
Divya shook her head. "I don't want you to do anything reckless."
Purv's gaze snapped to hers. "You think I'm going to let this slide?" His voice was sharp, but there was something deeper there-genuine worry, frustration that she had to go through this.
"I know you won't," Divya said softly. "But I also know you. If you go after him now, you'll end up in trouble."
Purv exhaled, his body tense with unspent fury. "Then I'll plan something better."
Divya squeezed his hand. "I trust you."
Purv met her gaze, his dark eyes filled with a silent promise. "He won't touch you again."
And she knew, without a doubt, that he meant every word.
