Shattered trust

Author's pov-

Purv stormed into Rudra's apartment, slamming the door behind him with a force that rattled the walls. His fists were clenched so tightly that his knuckles turned white, his entire body rigid with anger.

Rudra, who had been lazily lounging on the couch, jolted upright at the sight of his bestfriend's furious expression. "What the hell happened?" He asked, sitting up straighter.

Purv ran a shaky hand through his hair, his jaw clenching. "I saw her," hit bit out. His voice was laced with betrayal, like the words themselves burned on his tounge. "I saw Divya with Rehan. And she was-" he stopped, exhaling sharply, unable to even say it.

Rudra's eyebrows furrowed in confusion. "Wait, what? What do you mean?"

Purv let out a bitter chuckle, shaking his head. "She let him touch her, Rudra. She enjoyed it." He let out a dry laugh, filled with disbelief. "And here I was- thinking she was different. That she actually cared about me." His voice cracked at the end, but he quickly masked it with a sharp exhale.

Rudra's eyes widened. "No way."

"I saw it with my own eyes," purv snapped. "I saw her melt under his touch, and when I confronted her, she didn't even deny it! She just stood there like- like it meant nothing."

Rudra was still trying to process everything. This didn't make sense. Divya knew the plan. They had talked about it. They had decided to let Rehan think he was winning while gathering proof of his intentions.

So why... why had she suddenly changed course?

Rudra's mind raced as realisation hit him. "Wait," he said slowly, standing up. "That doesn't make sense."

Purv shot him a glare. "Are you seriously defending her right now?"

"No, listen to me," rudra insisted. "We had a plan, purv. Divya was supposed to play along just enough to make Rehan trust her, and then we were going to expose him. So why would she suddenly abandon everything and actually let him get close?"

Purv stilled.

His breathing was heavy, his pulse hammering, but Rudra's words settled in his mind like a poison.

"We planned this," Rudra repeated, his voice firmer now. "Which means either she wanted to betray you..." He paused, watching purv's reaction carefully. "Or something else is going on."

Purv's eyes darkened. His anger hadn't faded, but now-now there was something else lurking beneath it.

A dangerous suspicion.

Because if Divya hadn't just changed her mind out of nowhere...

Then someone had made sure she did.

And he would find out who.
