The hunt begins

Author's pov-

Purv sat in his car, gripping the steering wheel so tightly his fingers ached. His jaw was clenched, his mind replaying the scene over and over again-the way Divya had let Rehan touch her, the way she hadn't pushed him away. It made his stomach twist in ways he hated.

But Rudra was right.

This didn't make sense.

Divya knew the plan. She wasn't someone who would just throw it all away-especially not for a guy like Rehan. So either she had genuinely changed her mind... Or someone had pushed her to.

And if that was the case, then there was only one person cunning enough to pull something like this.

Vaani.

Purv exhaled sharply, trying to rein in his emotions as he pulled out his phone and dialed a number.

"Sir?" His private investigator's voice came through the speaker.

"I need you to dig into someone," Purv said coldly. "Vaani Mehta. Find out who she's been meeting, who she's been talking to, and if there's any connection between her and Rehan."

There was a pause before the man responded. "Understood. I'll get back to you soon."

Purv ended the call and threw his phone onto the passenger seat.

If vaani was behind this, he would make sure she regretted ever getting involved.

But first-he needed to confront the one person who always knew more than she let on.

Purv pushed open the doors of the university's rooftop terrace, his eyes immediately locking on to charvi, who stood by the railing, scrolling through her phone.

She turned at the sound of footsteps, her lips curling into a smirk. "Well, well. If it isn't Mr. Ice king himself."

"Cut the crap, charvi," purv said, striding toward her. His patience was already running thin. "Tell me what you know."

She arched a brow. "About?"

"Vaani. Rehan. And whatever the hell they're planning."

Charvi's smirk faltered for a split second before she recovered, tilting her head. "Why would I know anything?"

Purv's eyes narrowed. "Because you see everything, charvi. You hear everything. Don't play dumb with me."

Charvi sighed, crossing her arms. "Fine. I did overhear something a few days ago," she admitted. "Vaani and Rehan were talking in the parking lot. She sounded pissed about something, and he was trying to calm her down."

Purv's fists clenched. "What were they saying?"

Charvi shrugged. "Something about how Divya was getting too close to you, and how it was 'messing up the plan'."

Purv's blood ran cold.

Vaani had orchestrated this. She had been watching, waiting, and when she saw Divya getting close to him, she had used rehan to drive a wedge between them.

The realisation hit him like a punch to the gut.

This wasn't just about jealousy.

This was a setup.

And he had walked right into it.
