The silence between us

Author's pov-

Divya sat on the edge of her bed, staring at her phone screen.

No calls. No messages.

Nothing.

She had expected purv to storm into her house, demand answers, refuse to let her slip away so easily. But he hadn't.

Instead, he had walked away.

And that hurt her more than anything.

She exhaled shakily, running her fingers through her hair. The confrontation at the library had left her exhausted, her emotions frayed. She had told herself she wouldn't cry, but the moment she stepped into her house, she had broken down.

Not because of what purv had said.

But because of what he didn't.

There was a knock on her door.

Her mother's voice came through. "Divya, come eat something."

"I'm not hungry," she replied, her voice hoarse.

A pause. Then a sigh. "Atleast come out of your room."

"I need some time."

She heard footsteps retreating, and then silence again.

Divya curled into herself, pulling her knees to her chest. She had thought she could handle this, thought she was prepared for the pain that came with pushing purv away.

But why did it feel like she had shattered something inside herself instead?

Her fingers hovered over her phone.

She could text him. Ask him if he was okay.

But no. That would defeat the whole point.

He needed to figure out what he wanted.

And she needed to let go of whatever hope she had been holding on to.

Outside, the sky darkened, the city lights flickering in the distance.

And in the quiet of her room, Divya closed her eyes, willing herself to forget the way purv had looked at her before walking away.

As if he was losing something he didn't even know he wanted to keep.

Purv sat on his couch, a glass in his hand, untouched.

Rudra paced infront of him, running a frustrated hand through his hair. "So that's it? You just left?"

Purv didn't answer.

"Purv," Rudra snapped, sitting across from him. "What the hell were you thinking? We had a plan. And now, rehan and vaani are the ones winning."

Purv exhaled through his nose. His mind kept replaying Divya's words.

You never once made it clear what I am to you. So why does it matter?

He clenched his jaw. It mattered. It fucking mattered.

Rudra sighed, rubbing his face. "Look, I get this is messy. But we need to do something before Rehan pushes things further."

Purv's grip on the glass tightened. He knew Rudra was right. He couldn't just sit here, drowning in his emotions while rehan got closer to Divya.

And vaani...

His expression darkened. He had been so focused on Rehan that he hadn't considered the fact that vaani was part of this.

He set the glass down and stood up.

Rudra raised an eyebrow. "Where are you going?"

Purv grabbed his jacket. "To deal with Vaani."

If she thought she could manipulate him, she was about to realise just how wrong she was.
