Chapter 14 The Plan
Ye Wangbai's idea was simple.
This place was desolate—no surveillance cameras, no witnesses.
As long as we pushed Song Mei's body off the cliff and made it look like she slipped and fell by accident.
Then pretended to call the police afterward.
All I had to do was provide an alibi—tell them that last night when Song Mei met with the accident, Ye Wangbai was with me the whole time.
I figured that would clear his name.
We soon reached the spot where Song Mei had "died."
She lay beneath a few cherry blossom trees.
Eyes tightly closed. A thin trail of blood at the corner of her mouth.
Still wearing the same clothes from yesterday.
I couldn't help glancing at Ye Wangbai.
Just yesterday he had been fooling around with her right in front of me, completely enchanted.
Now he held her corpse in his arms.
His face showed no guilt at all. Only ruthless determination.
He carried her step by step toward the edge of the cliff.
I couldn't hold back anymore.
"Ye Wangbai, maybe we should still call the police. Or an ambulance. What if Song Mei can still be saved?"
As soon as I spoke, her eyelids fluttered even more.
Ye Wangbai paused for a second.
I could see a flash of hesitation cross his face.
But it vanished quickly. He shook his head.
"No. It has to look like an accidental fall!"
With that, he spread his arms without another moment's delay.
Song Mei's body dropped into the abyss.
I heard the wind rush past as she fell.
Ye Wangbai was drenched in cold sweat. He collapsed to the ground as if all strength had left him.
After a while, he reached a hand toward me.
"Wife, my legs are weak. I can't stand up. Help me, please."
