Chapter 25 #2
“I heard they weren’t happy about the exercise when we danced earlier,” she said.
They were carrying on the conversation like she wasn’t standing there looking like a goddess and he wasn’t harder than stone.
His eyes dropped again, helplessly, to the curve of her stomach.
She stepped back, fully under the spray, water tracing the lines of her collarbones and sliding down between her breasts. Her hair darkened as it soaked through, clinging to her shoulders.
Jay swallowed. He couldn’t push her. Shouldn’t want her when she was already exhausted, already dealing with so much. But she looked at him like she knew exactly what was running through his mind.
“You’re staring, Jay.”
“Trying not to.”
“That working for you?”
“No.”
A small laugh escaped her, and something inside him eased at the sound of it. She hadn’t had much to laugh about lately.
“Come here,” she said softly.
He hesitated.
“Blue….”
“I’m pregnant,” she said, arching a brow. “Not made of glass. Now take your clothes off and get in here.”
His jaw tightened. “I don’t want to hurt you.”
“You won’t.” The certainty in her voice undid him.
The steam curled around him as he pulled his shirt over his head, then shoved his shorts down. The air was cool against his skin for a second before he stepped into the shower behind her.
Blue moved closer.
Up close, her eyes were darker, heat simmering beneath the surface. There was want there. Real, unmistakable want.
“This has been building,” she said.
“It has,” he whispered.
His hand hovered near her waist before finally settling there. Her skin felt warm beneath his palm.
“I don’t know what’s safe,” he admitted.
She reached down and guided his other hand to the gentle curve of her belly. The contact stole his breath. Their baby was inside there.
His thumb moved instinctively, brushing across her skin.
“You’re not going to hurt the baby,” she said. “And you’re not going to hurt me. I want you, Jay. I want this.”
That did it. He leaned down and kissed her, fighting the desperate need to ravish Blue, and tried to take it slow. Their lips clung together, so soft and sensual.
Her hands slid up his chest, fingers splayed as they glided over his wet skin. Her touch was exquisite, and he wanted more, needed to feel her hands all over his body.
Jay cradled the back of her head and angled her mouth more fully beneath his. The water ran between them, over their shoulders, down their sides, adding to the heat that was already building inside him.
She sighed into his mouth.
He moved her slightly, bringing her flush against his body as he wrapped an arm around her back, anchoring her to him.
“You okay?” he murmured against her lips.
“Mmm,” she hummed. “Don’t stop.”
He kissed her again, deeper and even slower. Her fingers curled in his hair, and the sound she made when he traced his mouth along her jaw went straight through him.
Jay ran a hand down her body, and she shuddered as his thumb brushed over her nipples.
“Jay….”
He paused immediately. “Too much?”
“No.” Her eyes were half lidded, her cheeks flushed from the steam and the need. “Don’t treat me like I’ll break.”
He rested his forehead against hers. “I could never forgive myself if I hurt you.”
“You won’t, and some pregnant women love sex even more than before.”
“Nice. I can work with that,” he said.
She slid her hand down between them and grabbed his erection, stroking up and down his hard length a few times. Jay was sure he saw stars. The kiss that followed was less restrained.
He shifted, lifting her slightly so her back pressed safely against the tiled wall, one hand braced beside her head, the other steady on her hip. She hooked her leg around his waist, drawing him closer.
The contact forced a low growl from his throat. “Blue,” he warned softly.
She smiled against his mouth. “Stop thinking.”
Easier said than done. But when she looked at him like that, eyes heavy and lips swollen from his kisses, he let himself feel instead.
“I need to be inside you, Blue.”
“Yes.”
“Next time we’ll go slower,” he vowed.
She didn’t reply.
He boosted her up, and she wrapped her arms around his neck. Jay then slid deep inside her wet heat.
“Christ, you feel good,” he whispered.
“More.” She tugged on his hair.
She clung to his shoulders as he eased out and drove back inside her, again and again. The water muffled their moans and sighs, but when the tension built inside her and she tightened around him, Jay felt something fierce and overwhelming bloom in his chest.
He wanted this woman, and not just for now.
He thrust again, and they both found their release.
Neither moved for long minutes as both fought to regain their breaths. She hung in his arms, her head now resting on his shoulder as water cascaded over them.
“You okay?” he asked again, voice quieter now.
She let out a small breathless laugh.
“Blue?”
“I’m more than okay.”
Relief flooded him. Jay pressed a kiss to her temple, then to her lips.
She ran her fingers through his wet hair.
He shut off the water, and then carried her out of the shower, only then lowering her to the floor. He should let her go, but didn't want to. Instead he grabbed a towel and dried her.
“I can manage that.”
“So can I.” Once he’d dried them both, Jay picked her up.
“What are you doing? Put me down.”
He didn’t, instead walking to his bedroom. He kicked open the door, then headed for the bed. Dragging back the covers, he lowered Blue onto the mattress and then joined her.
“Jay—”
“Sssh. Sleep now, talk tomorrow.”
He pulled her into his arms and closed his eyes. For the first time in a long while, he dropped into sleep with zero white noise or trying to calm his crazy thoughts.
