Chapter 4
CHAPTER FOUR
Emersyn
After returning home late from the wedding, Axel asked me to be his official girlfriend, and I agreed. We kissed for what felt like hours before falling asleep in each other’s arms.
Over the next week, Axel and I fell into an easy routine. He got up and went to work early and stayed late, working long hours at the garage, while I spent my days writing, cooking, cleaning, and other tedious tasks.
Yet I didn’t mind one bit. Not for the sweet man who showered me with so much love and treated me unlike any guy I dated before. Not that there was much to compare, but I went on a few dates here and there and nothing seemed to stick. Nor did anyone seemed to care in the way Axel did.
I enjoyed cooking and planned elaborate dinners for us, riding into town to shop at the market for that night’s meal. I even made desserts, the food network channel keeping me company as I tried new flavors.
Tonight, I planned on a ribeye steak with a side of baked potatoes and cheesy broccoli. I wanted the night to be special. Because tonight was the night, I wanted to go all the way with him.
It sounded silly like a teenager planning the big night to lose her virginity, but it was important and should be treated as such.
I’d purchased some new lingerie, set up candles around the bedroom, and even sprinkled rose petals.
Setting the stage was the most important in getting the ambience correct and I spent the most time there.
I kept myself busy and distracted by staggering what I needed to do in order to make the time pass quickly. A long bath and plenty of pampering, before cooking our meal and getting dressed.
The final hours ticked down slowly when, finally, I heard the key in the lock and the door popped open seconds later. I covered my sexy outfit with my robe and tied my hair up in a messy bun for now.
“Hey Axel, in here!” I called from the kitchen before busying myself at the stove.
“Hey beautiful. How was your day?” He asked as he wrapped his arms around my waist. “Did you just take a shower?”
“Yeah, felt amazing.” I slid my arms around his neck and pulled him down for a kiss.
“Let me go take one of those and we can have dinner, yeah?”
“Mmm hmm, I’ve got dinner waiting.”
“You’re too good to me, Em.” Axel looked at me with so much love, my heart pounded in my chest.
While he showered, I finished dinner and plated the food, my stomach twisting into knots I didn’t know were possible.
Maybe he’d reject me and say it was too soon. Maybe he’s trying to protect his heart. Maybe, maybe, maybe. I could think up a million different scenarios, but I needed to face it head on instead of avoiding it.
“Phew, special occasion?” Axel said as he walked into the kitchen and took a seat.
“No, just wanted to show off my cooking skills a little.” I grinned. “Did it work?”
“Of course it did. You impress me every day.” He winked. “Steak? Baked potatoes? Delicious!”
“How was your day?” I asked him and pulled my robe tighter.
Axel glanced down but didn’t say anything before taking another bite of his baked potatoes. “Same old shit, different car. What about you? Get some writing done?”
“Yes, and did some laundry, a few chores, went to the market, the same old stuff. Don’t you wish laundry would just vanish off the face of the earth?”
Axel laughed. “And everyone would be naked? Or wearing dirty clothes?”
“Too many details. Just banish laundry. Simple. Done.”
“You got it. Laundry, poof, gone. By the way, this steak is delicious. Thank you.”
“Wait until you see what’s for dessert.”
“Chocolate and peanut butter mixed into a delicious concoction?”
I eyed him suspiciously. “Where’d you see the recipe?”
Axel chuckled, the sound deep, rumbly, and almost throaty. I squirmed in my seat, ready to toss this robe aside and show him what’s really underneath.
I trusted him one hundred percent. I was ready to give myself over to him, to let him have his way with my body, something I’d never shared with anyone else.
“Nowhere. Just thought it sounded good.”
“It actually does. I’ll have to look it up.”
After we finished dinner and cleaned up mostly, I led Axel upstairs, feigning some excuse about checking the toilet in the bathroom.
As he walked towards the bathroom, I dropped my robe and whistled at him. He turned towards me and his mouth fell open. His eyes traveled over every inch as he took in my lacy corset bodice with a matching thong.
“Damn…” He walked over to me. “Are you trying to tell me something?”
“Like what?” I teased.
Axel searched my eyes. “Are you sure? Like one hundred percent? No doubts?”
“I wouldn’t want to lose my virginity to anyone else besides you, Axel. You’ve made me so comfortable, and I know you’ll take care of me through thick or thin. I think it’s time.”
His breath hitched in his throat, and I smiled at his visceral reactions, loving the effect I had on him. He scrubbed a hand down his face and when his eyes bounced back to mine, they were full of a fiery passion.
“There’s no going back.”
“I know. But I trust you. And I want you, Axel. I love you.”
His mouth fell open and the happiest look came over his face. “I love you too, Emersyn.”
