Ginae’s Prologue
“Deeper, Phyre. Go deeper!” I cried out in ecstasy.
“You want the whole thing?” Phyre whispered with his lips against my ear.
“All of it.”
“If I give it to you, ain’t no running.”
“Mmm,” was all I could say in response because he’d already begun to press his way into my soul.
Phyre Jordan was everything I expected he would be, which was why I avoided him for so long. Once I gave in, it was all gas and no brakes between us. The past six months had been a romantic whirlwind, and I was glad I’d given him my number.
“I love you, Sweetness,” he confessed as his strokes went deeper.
“I love you too.”
We were in the missionary position, and his chest was pressed against mine. He lifted onto his forearms, causing me to open my eyes and look into his.
“I don’t think you understand, baby. I love you. I want you to be my wife and the mother of my children. I want to spend the rest of my life making you happy.”
This wasn’t the first time Phyre had confessed his love for me, but this time, it felt different. The look in his eyes, the tone of his voice, and his energy felt different. He seemed anxious and tense . . . even nervous.
“Umm, I want that too, baby. Are you okay?”
His mouth covered mine as he made the sweetest love to me. He was gentle, yet firm, and every move he made was with intention. I never doubted his love for me because he never hesitated to make sure I knew. Tonight was no different.
By the time he filled me with his seeds, my heart and soul were already full.
He planted kisses all over my face and neck as I came down from my high.
When he removed himself from my womb, he rolled over and wrapped me in his arms. Within minutes, we were fast asleep, but throughout the night, I was awakened by his soft kisses and whispers of him talking in his sleep, confessing how much he loved me.
The next morning, I woke up to the sound of the shower. I scooted toward the edge of the bed to grab my phone and check the time. It was a little after seven, so I was confused about why Phyre was up so early on a Saturday morning, but I didn’t give it much thought.
I’d received several text messages from an unknown number, and I assumed they were spam. I opened the thread to delete the messages and block the number, but when I saw Phyre’s name, I paused and read the messages.
Unknown:
Whatever you have going on with Phyre ends today.
Enjoy the dick while you can because this is the last time you will fuck my future husband.
You won’t be seeing him again.
The picture that followed the message blew my mind. My heart sank to the pits of hell, and I felt like I would vomit. Tears formed in my eyes, causing my vision to blur. I wiped them away and re-read the information on the picture.
“Hey, baby. I hope I didn’t wake you,” Phyre said as he left the bathroom with a towel wrapped around his waist.
I lived in a studio apartment because that was all I could afford as a nursing student on a budget. Phyre’s apartment was much nicer, but further away from campus. He came from a wealthy family and didn’t have to depend on financial aid and scholarships to pay for his education.
“How could you?” I asked, just above a whisper.
“How could I what?” His face showed his confusion.
“You’ve been lying to me this whole time.”
He took a few steps toward me, and I held up my hand, stopping him in his tracks.
“Nae, baby, what are you talking about? I haven’t lied to you about anything.”
“You’re engaged?” I asked.
His body language gave me my answer before he responded.
“What?”
“You’re engaged!” I said louder, and this time it wasn’t a question.
“Baby, let me—”
“Get out!” I shouted as I hopped out of bed, naked as the day I was born. “Get the fuck out!”
“Ginae, please. Let me explain.”
“There’s nothing to explain. Get out before I call the police.”
“It’s not what you think.”
“Are you engaged?”
“Yes, but—”
I lifted my phone and dialed 9-1-1 before showing him my screen.
"If you come near me, I won’t hesitate to call. Get your shit and leave. I don’t ever want to see or hear from you again. You’ve been stringing me along all this time. I can’t believe I fell for your ass.”
I was livid. My body shook, my hands trembled, tears raced from my eyes, mixing with the snot running from my nose. I wanted to scream and punch Phyre in his mouth, but I refused to give him the satisfaction.
“Ginae, please. Give me five minutes to explain.”
My eyes landed on the bathroom, and I wondered if I could get there without Phyre touching me.
“You’ve had plenty of time to explain. I’ll give you five minutes to get your belongings and leave my presence. If you say one more word to me, I’m calling the police.”
He sighed, but he didn’t say another word.
I sat on my bed and covered my naked body with the sheet.
It took him longer than five minutes to get his shit, but he didn’t say a word while he did it.
I tried to stifle my cries, but it was impossible.
When Phyre finally left, my heart broke into a million pieces, and I didn’t believe it could ever be repaired.
