Chapter 14 #2
Brynn felt that touch everywhere. In her toes. In her fingertips. In her chest. And especially in her center, which was starting to pulse and contract, a desperate tightness blanketed on top of everything that made her squirm to try and get more friction.
She found it by pulling Hallie’s face back down to her and kissing her like this was going to be her last kiss. She asked for—no, demanded—entry with her tongue. Hallie granted it, along with a moan into Brynn’s mouth, and heat soaked through her body.
Brynn had never wanted to kiss someone like this. Messy and devouring and like she couldn’t get enough. And that was because she couldn’t get enough.
Hallie’s lips were warm, but her cheeks still held the slightest tinge of cold from the outdoors. She smelled like a pine forest, which only made Brynn want to burrow closer and inhale the scent.
Brynn had never felt like this before. Had never been this close to coming. From the touching and the kissing and the reverent way Hallie was moving against her, like Brynn was both breakable but also the only thing keeping Hallie holding on to reality.
“Keep doing that,” Brynn panted as Hallie’s fingers continued to push in and up, in and up.
Their kissing grew messy—messier, really—but she didn’t care. She needed. She needed… The comforter was still between them, and that was just not going to work for her, orgasm on the table or not. She wanted to feel the pressure of Hallie’s body against her, without the barrier in between.
Deftly, Brynn pushed the covers down, pushing one side and then the other, wriggling her own body to help the process along. And then she felt the press of Hallie’s stomach against her own, where both of their shirts had ridden up.
Hallie looked down at her then, bright eyes searching for any sign as to what Brynn was thinking. Which wasn’t much, right now, if Brynn was being honest.
Her hand found its way to Hallie’s waist, holding Hallie against her as her own hips started to jerk, searching and straining for a release that was building in the base of her spine.
It was an absurd realization, how her body just seemed to know how to chase the feeling coursing through her, like she’d tapped into some primal part of herself that she hadn’t known existed before.
And the source of it was looking down at her, lips parted and panting slightly, fingers not letting up for a second as she worked Brynn with a deliciously intense rhythm that was making that feeling of infinity expand and expand and—
“Tell me what you need,” Hallie murmured throatily in her ear, low and slow and—
Her hips jerked forcefully into Hallie’s hand as her entire palm pressed hard against Brynn’s clit.
Brynn’s body snapped, completely out of her control, like it was being pulled apart at the seams. She got it now, as throbbing heat and tension exploded in her core, sensation washing through her body as the waves of her orgasm rolled outward.
Hallie’s fingers didn’t relent. She maintained her rhythm, working into Brynn as the pleasure kept expanding and growing and taking up all the air in the room.
“Hallie,” she cried out, not knowing whether she wanted her to go faster or slow down, her body in some liminal space where nothing else was real except the sensation rocketing through her.
And Hallie was right there, with a whispered, “I’ve got you,” as she pressed her forehead against Brynn’s, anchoring her to the moment. Finally, her fingers slowed even as she stayed inside of Brynn, keeping her walls stretched as little bursts of pleasure continued to flair through her body.
Exhausted, like all the energy had been zapped right out of her, Brynn’s hands fell back to the bed at the same time that Hallie slid sideways and dropped onto the mattress.
Brynn would have laughed if she could have managed it, how Hallie’s body thumped, like they’d both been wrung out of all they had to give.
To Hallie’s credit, she’d been the one doing all the heavy lifting.
There would never be enough words in the English language for Brynn to describe how she felt right now.
“I guess you really don’t know what you don’t know,” she settled on.
She turned and looked at Hallie, smiling, that oh-so-pleased warmth still soaking into her bones. “But now I do, thanks to you.”
She sure as hell didn’t understand that that was what she’d been waiting so long to feel.
And god, it hadn’t disappointed. Especially because it had been with Hallie.
Hallie was stretched out next to her on the bed, and she’d put one of her hands under her head, on the side closest to Brynn. This left the perfect space for Brynn to curl onto her side, nestling in the crook of Hallie’s neck.
Hallie still hadn’t said anything, but Brynn could see the punctuated rise and fall of her chest, like she was working to regulate her breathing.
Brynn skimmed her fingertips over Hallie’s stomach, which had been pressed against her own seconds ago. It was so warm to the touch, any traces of the cold outside long forgotten.
“Hallie?” Brynn finally asked, the smallest bit of doubt creeping into her voice.
It wasn’t like Brynn was a virgin or anything, but this was a very specific type of first time, and they’d shared something that meant something to her, beyond the fact that she’d wanted to feel this type of closeness with Hallie for weeks now.
It wasn’t special because she’d come, but because Hallie had seen all of her, metaphorically speaking, and she’d been so patient and thoughtful and sexy and… just fucking perfect, really.
“It’s never been like that for me either. Just so you know.” Her tone was so vulnerable, eyes searching when Brynn looked over to meet them. It blanketed the whole moment in softness, even though what they’d just done had been anything but tender.
“I’ve been doing research,” Brynn said, and Hallie laughed right on the heels of those words. The movement jostled Brynn, and she had to wrap her arm around Hallie’s torso to keep them connected. Which she was absolutely going to do; there was no way she was letting Hallie go right now.
“I can’t wait to hear what about exactly,” Hallie was saying, but her breath in her throat hitched when Brynn scratched her nails down Hallie’s side, and she watched, mesmerized, as Hallie’s legs bowed outward.
She couldn’t wait to have the chance to touch Hallie, too.
Even without coming, she seemed incredibly blissed out right now.
But, Brynn realized, she would probably feel the same way if she had the chance to make Hallie feel as good as she’d just felt.
That knowledge, that power, would have her in a very similar state.
And there it was again, the feeling of how right they were together. It overwhelmed her rational senses, making it hard to think.
All that left was existing in the moment, which Brynn was trying her best to do.
“Having an orgasm produces all kinds of hormones and chemicals. Oxytocin, for instance, known as the love hormone. It promotes feelings of bonding and connection,” Brynn rattled off, her fingers sliding upwards, closer to Hallie’s rib cage again.
Hallie brought the arm under her head down, wrapping it lightly around Brynn’s shoulders. “I’m feeling pretty bonded and connected.”
Brynn snuggled in closer and placed a light kiss on Hallie’s clavicle, through her shirt. “Then there’s dopamine for pleasure and reward and serotonin for well-being and relaxation.”
Letting out an over-the-top yawn, Hallie said, “I’m also feeling pretty pleased and relaxed.”
It was crazy to consider that not only was she spouting off facts during her postcoital bliss, but Hallie was just letting her ramble. If anything, she was encouraging Brynn by playing along. It was, just like everything else between them, so ridiculously easy.
This was everything Brynn had ever wanted, and the craziest part was that she hadn’t even known she’d been looking for it.
“Is this going to change things between us?” Brynn asked, unable to hold the words in as soon as they popped into her brain. Which, whether helpful or not, was starting to fire normally again.
The hands that had been massaging into Brynn’s shoulder stilled as Hallie looked down at her again. “Do you want it to change anything?”
Brynn considered the question. She wanted it to change things in the ways that meant that they got to keep doing this—lying together in bed, exploring their attraction to one another.
But she absolutely didn’t want to let it disrupt the closeness that they’d developed over the last few months.
“I guess I see what’s happening between us as a continuation of what’s already been happening.
At least, that’s how I’d like to think about it. ”
Hallie mulled over the words, but Brynn was relieved when she started massaging her shoulder again.
“We’re friends who are attracted to one another.
We live together, for right now. You are just coming off a very…
intense”—was the hesitant word that Hallie seemed to settle on—“engagement. We sort of skipped over the whole dating slash making sure we want the same things part.”
Brynn was about to respond when she felt Hallie’s inhale, and she held back as Hallie spoke again.
“The whole point of you coming to Stoneport was to regroup and date and figure out what you want to come next. Do you think that this happening,” Hallie asked, pointing between them, “is going to dampen your ability to do that?”
Easing up on her elbow, Brynn gave Hallie a hard look. “Are you trying to give me an out?”
“No,” Hallie groaned, rolling her body into Brynn’s. Brynn wanted nothing more than to wrap her other arm around Hallie, too, and get completely lost in how good it felt to be so close. Inhaling Hallie’s scent. Touching the smoothest skin she’d ever experienced.
But none of those desires, no matter how potent, changed the fact that Brynn needed answers. “Then what exactly are you saying?”
