I’m stuck on a part in this book and need help.

I can’t decide which way to go.
So, they’re both artists who are rivals but have to work together on this collaborative exhibition. However, at the end, one artist will be selected to have their own art show.
They’re at each other's throats.
Matteo
I like this. Tell me more.
Jade
Well, no lol. You’ll have to wait until it’s done.
Matteo

I don’t know if they should kiss or not.
Matteo
I vote yes. Always yes.
Jade
I didn’t even tell you what’s happening in the scene.
Matteo
Does it really matter what’s happening?
Jade
Yes. The setup has to be calculated.
Matteo
What if it doesn’t though?
What if it’s one of those moments where the tension is just so thick, it’s consuming them? The only way to get past it is to go through it. What if something snaps inside and he just kisses her?
Jade
I don’t want it to feel like it’s rushed or out of place.
Matteo
How far into the book are you?
Jade
Half way.
Matteo
Has there been build-up?
Jade
Oh, yeah. The tension is thick enough you could cut it with a knife.
Matteo
Do they both want it to happen?
Jade
They’re both in denial, but definitely have those thoughts.
Matteo
I say fuck it. Do it.
Jade
Yeah?
Matteo
If they both want it and they’re holding back, let them have that moment. Time’s suspended. They both stare back at one another. The air is electric.
Jade
He closes the distance between the two of them.
Matteo
Her head tilts back, her lips parting as a soft breath escapes her.
Jade
She says his name softly—questioning—wanting.
Matteo
He lifts his hand to cup the side of her face. He asks her if this is what she wants, because it’s all he can think about.
Jade
She tells him she feels the same way, but they shouldn’t.
Matteo
And he kisses her instead.
Jade
Holy shit.
Matteo
Yeah, lol. Didn’t think I had it in me, did you?
Jade
I’m genuinely shocked.
Matteo
You gonna bring me on as your co-writer?
Jade
You’re good, but not that good.
Stick to hockey.
Matteo
Ouch. You wound me, Sunny.
Jade
Someone has to keep you humble.
Matteo
I’m not sure I’d want it to be anyone other than you, at this point.
Jade
Only until the end of the season, right?
Matteo
I don’t know… Maybe I extend our pact into next season too.
Jade
You think you can be my inspiration for more than one book?
Matteo
You have no idea what I can do.
Although, I wouldn’t be against showing you…
