Chapter 62
Daniel
I dislike being at gatherings, and even more so when I’m tasked with babysitting the annoying client, Spencer standing next to me.
I drum out all the nonsense he has been spewing, and I’m just trying to get through the evening.
The deal on the table with his company is huge for my client, and I’m compelled to play nice, despite how much I can’t stand the guy.
Fucking Aaron suggested I bring him to this event and pal up with him.
Why I keep letting Aaron rope me into this stuff is what I don’t know.
You do, know, you don’t trust him not to ass kiss and sell the company while sucking up to clients.
Fuck yes, but at times like this, I wish I let him ass kiss.
I want so much to have Anu next to me, but she seems to be having a good time chatting with Dele Blythe and Lande DeMoore. I smile inwardly, thinking about how I’m going to enjoy taking that dress off her body. I feel the shift in my pants.
Down, boy! I chastise my mind. My eyes trace every move she makes as she talks and laughs with her friends. Knowing she’s not wearing any panties, I find myself intensely aware of her she must have felt my eyes on her. She looks my way and winks at me.
“Can you imagine fucking a woman like that?” Fucking Spencer’s voice interrupts my eye fucking of my girl.
“Excuse me?” I turn to him, confused.
“I asked can you imagine fucking a woman like that? The one in blue,” he repeats himself and nods towards Anu.
Of course, I don’t have to imagine, but… what the fuck?
“That black woman in blue just winked at me. She must have heard about me and probably wants to flirt with me.”
Oh, no, he didn’t!
“I don’t think she winked at you.” I sip my drink to soothe my irritation.
“Trust me, she did.” No, she didn’t.
“Looks like I might get lucky tonight. I would love to give her the best time of her life.”
Fuck no. Please, stop talking. It’s getting hard not to give you a black eye.
“You may get lucky tonight, but I can assure you it won’t be with her.” Only I can touch my girl.
“She just looked my way again. Ladies tell me I’m good looking and charming.”
That is until you open your mouth.
“Really, they do?” I bet they told you that to charm their way into your pocket. Stupid.
“Come on, you know how it is: rich, charming and good-looking; girls love us. What girl wouldn’t drool over us? Maybe not you, you scowl too much and might scare them away.”
I chuckle. You aren’t the one she’s drooling over.
“Good, hope my scowl keeps the uninteresting people away.” Including you, I hope.
“Well, not her; she’s smiling at me.” He starts to adjust his clothing, trying to be cool. “I’m going to enjoy fucking her and draping her in diamonds. She’ll follow me like a puppy till I tire of her.”
Not on your life. And she doesn’t like diamonds.
“What if she’s not smiling at you? And maybe she doesn’t like diamonds.” My girl prefers pure gold.
“There’s no way she’s not drooling for me.”
Fuck, MF is really testing my patience. I watch Anu answer a call and start moving towards our direction.
“Relax, she’s coming this way. Watch me charm her.”
I sip my drink, knowing he’s in for a shock.
Anu gets to us, and I pull her into my arms. I make a note of having my hand roam her body, and her ass. She laughs.
“Uncle Dan,” she purrs softly. “Stop it.”
“I missed you, princess,” I whisper in her ear. She blushes and rests her head on my chest.
“Jordan pinged me. I need to call him, and we can go home,” she says as she pulls away from my body, smiling at me. I can feel Spencer’s eyes intensely staring at her.
“Okay, and I’ll be ready to leave.” I kiss her lips, and she leaves. I take my drink and down it.
“You could have introduced me.”
I turn a stern look at him.
“Now, why would I do that? You seemed so sure she winked at you, and your charm and riches were all she needed.” I pause and watch him scowl. “She was winking at me.” I say
“Are you scared she might be charmed by me?”
I scoff at him.
“Actually, I’m quite sure she didn’t notice you.”
“Come on, man! You know you are scared, but why don’t we wager?”
My scowl is immediate. What did this asshole just say?
“I bet I can charm her to come home with me tonight once you introduce us. And if she leaves with you, I’ll pay you a hundred thousand.”
I return a sad laugh.
“I’m not going to introduce you. She’s worth more than your stupid bet.” I turn a stern look to him. “Goodnight, and we’ll see you in the morning. I’m taking my girl home.”
“A million, then,” he immediately says. This guy must not know about me.
“I’ll advise you to quit while you can. As you said before, you are rich, good-looking and charming. Find another woman for tonight, and every other night.”
“I want her,” he firmly states, looking straight at me, like we are in a standoff.
“You are never getting her,” I sternly reply with a daring stare before turning to leave.
I meet Anu halfway in the hall. She’s all smiles.
“Guess what?” she cheerfully asks.
“What?” I smile, hiding my anger.
“Jordan got nominated for the grammy’s, and it’s the album I tuned.”
“Whoa, that’s wonderful!” I pull her into a hug. “You did it, Anu.”
“I can’t believe it.”
“I believe it; you are amazing.”
“Thank you. The kids are going to be so excited when I tell them that Jordan wants to do a version with them to promote the program.”
“That’s great! Cara is totally going to fall in love with you now.”
“I love her too.”
“Come on, let’s head home.”
“Don’t you need to say goodbye to your client?”
“No, what I need is you in my arms.” She bats her eyes at me, with a sexy smile. Her flirting is working.
“Shall we?” she asks, purring. I love her flirty games.
