Chapter 63
Daniel
I walk into the office. I don’t want to be here. It was hard dragging myself away from Anu. I didn’t want to leave her. Her soft and warmth were all I needed today, but fucking Aaron kept calling. I had to put my phone in silence.
I barely have my coffee when he bursts in like fire is up his ass, and he needs my help to put it out.
“Spencer is not signing the deal,” he sputters. He looks like he’s about to scream but making herculean effort to control himself.
“Why?” I ask, unrattled by his discomfiture.
“Because…” He pauses to control himself. “Because he said he wants a date with some girl he saw you with last night, and he won’t sign.”
My jaw tightens. I turn a lasered look to Aaron. I lean back in my chair. A sad chuckle escapes me. Spencer wants a fight, then he gets a fight.
I get up and button my jacket. Aaron is next to me.
“Can you just give her to him, so we can close this deal?” he rattles.
I don’t respond and continue toward the conference room.
“Everybody out,” I shout the moment I step into the room. They all leave. I move closer to Spencer, pull a chair, sit and face him. He looks at me with a smirk on his face.
“I told you last night; you are never getting her. Put a billion on the table, the answer is still no.” His eyes widen.
“Sign this deal and we both walk away rich; no harm no foul.” I lean closer.
“Don’t sign, and I will call my brothers up and we will buy this company, and you are out of luck while we walk away.
But one thing is certain: she will never be a bargaining chip.
” I rise and turn towards the door. Aaron looks confused.
I pause at the door when Spencer calls my name.
“All you had to say was you are in love with her,” he says with a shrug.
I don’t respond, I leave and hear the door shut behind me. Once in my office. I call her:
“Hello.”
“Hi, Princess.”
“Hey, you left early today. Are you okay?” she asks.
“I’m fine, just needed to get something done.”
“Okay. I thought I rode you to the point you had to run away.”
I burst into laughter.
“No such thing, princess.”
“Good. Well, I need to get going. I’m interviewing a few teachers today,” she says.
“Have a good day, and see you tonight.”
“Sure, if you don’t leave town.” She teases, I wish I didn’t have to travel as often.
“I promise I won’t.”
“Alright, see you later.” I hang up, smiling, just as Aaron comes in.
“He signed, and said to tell you, you are a lucky bastard,” he says, looking relieved. “Can I ask who she is?”
“Nope.” My answer is firm. It’s none of his business, the only thing he has to know is that she’s mine.
