Chapter 70

Anu-Ms K

Daniel’s arms are wrapped around me as we lay in bed.

His soft breathing lets me know he’s in deep sleep.

I lay awake, thinking about how the next few hours are about to be a big change in my life, and it scares me a little bit.

I know without a doubt that I love Daniel, and he loves me.

The road to the moment has been fast, and with some potholes and shock absorbing moments, but we have pulled through to the other side.

Yet, I still carry a fear that I’m taking a bold step without my daddy or my brother to catch me.

I’ve never done such a thing. Well, you kind of moved Daniel in without much thought, my good angel reminds me. I chuckle inwardly. I sure did and tried to raise my hand only to find Daniel’s hand resting on it.

This guy always wraps around me like he’s scared I might run in the night to some non-existent place, and he can’t find me.

I’m going nowhere, and I suspect he wants to marry me so fast for that very reason, before I can fully consider the implications.

You are thinking. Are you going to back out?

No!

Then stop thinking and just go marry the man. You know he loves you.

That he does.

He nuzzles me and mumbles “Anu” in his sleep, making me smile. I meld my body into him and slept.

“Wake up princess, it’s our wedding day,” he says, nudging me gently.

“Leave me alone, I love this bed.”

“It’s the same mattress as the one in Chicago.”

“Okay then. I don’t want to get up. Can we get married tomorrow or sometime in the future?” I hear a chuckle.

“I came with lemon tea.”

My eyes flick open.

“You could have led with that, but I still don’t want to get up,” I say, sitting up to take the tea from him, and I notice he’s dressed in a blue shirt and dress pants. “Isn’t the wedding in the evening?”

“Turns out I don’t have any casual clothing here. The few I have are in Chicago.” I eye him from the brim of my tea mug while taking a sip.

“Come on, get up. I want you to meet my dad before the ceremony,” he says, taking the mug from my hand.

“Isn’t the plan to see him at the ceremony?” I grumble; still upset he woke me from my beauty sleep.

“Yes, but I can drive you there and back to Jordan’s place in time.”

“I don’t have anything to wear that’s presentable,” I say, letting the message pass through us. “I packed in a hurry.” My voice is low.

“I know, and I don’t think he cares. He has been asking to meet you for a while now.”

My brow raises.

“Really?”

“Yes, ever since I asked for my mom’s ring,” he says, dropping the shocker on me.

I gasp, lifting my hand to look at the ring again. Still beautiful.

“This is your mom’s ring?”

He nods.

“It’s still beautiful and I’m never giving it back,” I say.

He smiles.

“I believe that’s the plan, for you to never take it off,” he says and I smile.
