Chapter 9 #3
After several shots of Patron, Edgar finally let the tension go and gave Felix a hug, officially welcoming him into his family.
We did a few more shots before ladies joined us with platters of food Luna and the staff made.
I don’t know about the others but I was starving since we hadn’t eaten dinner.
With the food, drinks and old school music Lincoln put on the surround sound system things turned into party.
We danced, played cards and domino’s and had a good time till wee hours in the morning.
Not sure how the guys were feeling this morning but I woke up with the worst fucking headache.
Now, I remember why I really didn’t like drinking the hard stuff.
Groaning I turn over onto my back throwing my arm over my eyes to block the morning sun from shining in my face.
With my other arm, I reach across the bed in search of Monica only to find her side of the bed empty.
Lowering my arm, I glance at the clock on the side of the bed.
Damn it was almost noon. I can’t believe I slept in this long.
Peering at the time in disbelief I noticed the glass of water and two Ibuprofen sitting next to the clock.
Monica must have known I was gonna feel like shit.
Sitting up, I reach over picking up the glass and pills.
Throwing the medicine in my mouth, I wash it down with the cool water.
Hopefully, I wouldn’t have to wait long for them to kick in.
When I made it downstairs after taking a shower and getting dressed, I found the rest of The young Heads as father and the Corners affectionately named us last night laying around in the den. It seems they were having the same afternoon.
“What’s up guys?” I greet falling onto the couch next to Adam. Collective groans are heard around the room.
“Man, I’m not drinking like that again for a long time.” Zo moans from under the pillow covering his face.
“I second that.” Nolan slurs.
I give a lazy nod. “Yeah, no more tequila shots for me that’s for sure. My head was banging when I woke up.” I rub my forehead.
“Yeah, well at least that’s all you had, big Brother over there was praying to the porcelain God this morning.” Adam ribs pointing to Felix.
Felix throws a pillow at him that Adam catches. “Hey, it was my pre-wedding reception so I get a pass.”
“Well, let’s just hope that you don’t get as tanked as you did last night at your actual reception.” Marco adds smirking.
“Good afternoon, gentlemen.” Father greets entering with the Corners and James. Now I know they drunk just as much as we did but they looked bright eyed and ready to conquer the day.
“Father,” I dryly respond.
“Glad to see you all have finally gotten up. I want to take everyone out on the yacht for some sailing and lunch. Are you men game?” He asks with a crooked smile.
Just the thought of the movement of the water had my stomach churning. “I’ll pass if you don’t mind. I’m sure Monica and Ladybug would love to join you but I don’t think I can deal with being on a boat right now.”
The rest of the Young Heads concurred with various groans and moans. Felix threw his hand over his mouth racing to the bathroom. The older men roared with laughter watching him. I can see right now I won’t have to worry about him or the rest getting trashed at my wedding reception.
Turning to father, I tell him, “Just let the ladies know we’ll catch up with them when you return. I’m going to lay here and recuperate till you guys get back.” I reach on the side of the couch feeling for the button to that transforms my section of the couch into a recliner.
“Yeah, father can you tell Imani the same for me.” Adam pleads curling up on the other side of the couch. Zo, Nolan, Maxillo, Reese, and Marco resound his statement as they get comfortable too.
“Very well, I guess we’ll see you Young Heads later then.” Father jests.
“Damn shame, young men like you can’t hold your liquor.” Albert teases shaking his head as they leave the room still laughing.
When they’re out of sight Nolan says in a hush, “Whatever, I can hold my liquor I just didn’t want any of you to look bad in front of them by yourselves.” He grunts as he’s assaulted by the many pillows thrown at him.
That three-hour nap is just what we needed to rejuvenate.
I woke up feeling ten times better. Luna brought sandwiches and drinks for us.
Just as we were finishing them the kids ran in telling us about what a great time they had on the yacht.
They were so animated and excited as they told us about seeing different fish in the lagoon and how father jumped in first to make sure there weren’t any sharks in the water.
Just from their enthusiasm I hated I was hungover and missed it.
Father came in and told us he has already planned a day of fishing for us men before we go back home.
That sparked my interest because I’ve never been fishing but always wanted to try it.
I always felt it was something a father and son could together and now I look forward to doing it with mine.
